IR AA missiles locking to ground targets?
BIOLOG replied to Octav's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
D-Scythe look up airborn target "Dan'" in Russian "Воздушная мишень Дань" This is what generally used to test missiles in Russia... Also about 95% of missiles have 2 or more fuses... IIRC R-77 has one impact fuse and two oppositely directed proximity fuses (basically they form two radio/laser rings round missile, one at front, one at the back)... Oh, and Octah, HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! -
IR AA missiles locking to ground targets?
BIOLOG replied to Octav's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well... If you shoot at M1's turret top... Not sure how thick is the armor there... -
Well, It was implemented in original Flanker or in Flanker 1.5, but I think it is not possible in LOMAC due to the engine... there was discussion about this long ago... But I'm not sure... However don't fret, ejection sequence in 1.1 became much better, and has a proper animation now... It's not as spectaculat sequence as in RL, but still makes atmosphere better... And the pilot body remains on the surface now, it doesn't just deisppear... Even if ejection was unsecessful  (De ja woo... IL-2...)

A64 3500+ w/ SLI BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E
BIOLOG replied to spearsd's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Lol, I'm watching this tread, and I have a feeling my card is underpreforming... I have ASUS 6800GT/TD (yes it's a hybrid, a GT core and 128Mb DDR RAM), and I can't really play LOMAC on high settings. Haze kills it lol. Might be due to my CPU and Memory thoy... (P4 2.2GHz 400FSB effective, 768Mb PC133 SDRAM) -
Yep. re're pretty unique :D
-
Heh, IIRC they're working right till the new Year's eve...

Merry Chrismas All! P.S to answer your question spearsd, Russian Othrodox Crismas is celebrated on 7th of January

Make about 10 different channels between which player can switch :D One of them the "battle one", with damage reports, ect, other one the "landing one", ect.... I wonder in RL, can pilots from one side listen to enemy's chat? Or is it encoded somehow
-
I think it's only comms between you and wingman, sry. Might be an idea for the future thou.
-
We have pilot talk and wingman responses in 1.1 I believe  So wish granted :D

Which Planes Do The Russians Fly The Most?

LMAO, I forgot about that sig, lol. Been there for a long time... -
Which Planes Do The Russians Fly The Most?
BIOLOG replied to S77th-GOYA's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well, there are some people in Russia who Fly Hogs and Eagles but not that many... I only know a couple. Personally I fly MiG-29C most of the time, sometimes I fly other planes too. I only tried Eagle and Hog, don't really like flying them much. But I'm the odd one out cause I'm Russian but leave in UK at the moment. And there are indeed Russian servers round there. Both on HL (although I haven't been there for quite a while), and at other places. -

Yeah, Harrier is native Brit :D -
Fate of american aircraft in LockOn 1.1 ?
BIOLOG replied to condor11's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I am 99% certain this will not affect 1.1... It's a bit too late for that. It might affect 1.2, but I seriously doubt that -
Hmm, in latest beta, it seems that MiG can't get killed that high. Which to the certain extend makes sence. How far did you say the fragments were supposed to fly? Just so I can compare game abnd RL geometry...
-
I was testing it in btw 1.1...

Last time I was testing A-G aspects of planes (from MiG-29A/C/G and Su-27/33), a long while ago, my aircraft was destroyed if I dropped bombs below 100-150m, and was flying slow... Also there has been a couple of cases when I bombed myself (works very well I might add). So there is a good blast damage. Of cause it depends on the bomb and aircraft you are talking about. I am sure Su-25T would have much better "blast damage" model then MiG's... I might test some A-G weapon preformance today (if I have time) and report with results. However let me once again stress the fact that developers simply haven't got time to model everything in RL detail. Therefore you cannot expect them to model persise blast fragment paths. Simply impossible because of limited time. {S}

That's a bloody good point actually! -
Whatever, lets end it here.

О, о, понаскакивали, блин... (can't translate that literally, but it contains nothing offensive, just an exclamation regarding me being stormed by lots of people that think that F-15 is superior in any case) Anyway, if you read my message again, perhaps you notise that I mentioned using terrain... And AWACS... Now, consider this scenario.F-15 flyes in the area. AWACS has a bearing on him and derects MiG-29 towards it. MiG-29 flyes low, uses terrain and IRST to lock F-15 and fire missile preferably at about 5nm, in the rear hempshire. F-15 will never know what hit him. That's just one of possible scenarious when F-15 will be at disadvantage. This scenario is unlikely since in RL, F-15 will most probably have an AWACS as well, however in real life you will not generally have 1 v 1 fight anyway. Also if you think that seekers on AIM-9M, R-73 and AIM-9X are vulnerable to flares to the same extend, you are wrong. AIM-9M should be most volnurable, then R-73 then AIM-9X. Simply because AIM-9X is newer technology. P.S. If you want to bring AIM-9X into play, which is not technically in force yet (although from what I hear it is almost there), why don't you consider modifications of R-73 which are soon to substitute basic R-73Э? For example there is R-74МЭ which has been around for past five years and might be ins slow production even (I say might be, cause noone can tell reliably, lol). It has newer IR seeker and longer (40km) range. P2.S2. I never said that F-15 is worse then MiG-29... I said that there are hypothetical situations where MiG-29 can beat F-15... Same could be said about any two in existance. And don't even start about Raptor, plz... P3.S3. Since when did beaming and anti-missile manuvers stopped working when AIM-120 is within 8nm? Anything can be evaded at any distance. Sometimes just by luck. Anyway this is deteriorating into "my daddy is better then yours!" type of discussion, don't you think? :D

Well, If it Was MiG-29C... I would have definately chosen MiG... If I had AWACS... I would have Chosen MiG-29A... Espesially if other side didn't have AWACS. Archers+IRST=Eagle's misery, unless he visually spots the missile. And even them he will have to dodge it, which is not an easy task. But I suppose I've chosen miG-29 in any case, of any modification, simply because I love that plane. In the hands of skilled pilot... It's a beast. Btw, pilots being equal, and both quite skillful, I can see a number of ways in which MiG-29 pilot can push for WVR combat. Iraq terrain might be an advantage here. On other hand F-15 pilot might want to keep it's distance. I would imagine, he would rather bug of then go into WVR with MiG-29.

G and Speed overload effects in 1.1
BIOLOG replied to skyshadow_raven's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
true... Although that would largely depend on weight of weapon and it's launching mechanism. -
Sure is.

G and Speed overload effects in 1.1
BIOLOG replied to skyshadow_raven's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Destroying jet byr over G is quite hard. Pilot will die first IMHO. Russian 9-G rated jets are built to withstand 18-G's... There is always a 100% "extra" strength in Russian aircraft. There is chance of failuire at over 9-G, and fairly obviously higher over-G, higher chance. However I think that chance is very very low. Btw, in real life, highest G experienced in a MiG-29 were 15G's. Cheers -
LMFAO. You really got me rolling on the floor in hysteric laughter mate. Thanks! :D Now then. First of all you would not know a single reliable thing about ethiopian incident. Neither would I or anyone else for that matter. Most of info which is published about it not particularly reliable to say the least... Of cause you could be working in CIA or something but even then you would probably not know the whole story. And you would probably have enough sence to keep what you know to yourself in that particular case  . Anyway from what I heard they used R-27R's (I am quite sure not R-27RE's, but have no reliable proof), and these missiles were not even maintained correctly (now this part is relatively reliable). Ethiopia story is even more unreliable then this article, which has tons of holes in it. This article is, IMHO quite contarminated with propaganda, to make senate provide more money for F-22's... Also, regarding these MiG-29 kills you mentioned... They were in such state that I am not at all surprised that thy got shot down. Many of them didn't have ammunition, working radars and RWR's. So not a particularly worthy opponent against F-15. Still they got pretty close to F-15's undetected. What was it, 20km? With AWACS in the area :D ? Anyways I do appoligise if I offended anyone in this post... Lets keep this argument civil, as it is now... Don't spike a flame war lol.
