Hi, i researched this topic a bit and it seems that there are plenty of programms, some free, some not. They all use windows speech recognition so i think there shouldnt be much difference on how well they understand the commands. As most of the information i came across is pretty out-dated i thought it would be best to ask u guys - Which ones are u using and do u have profiles to share ? greetings tob.s

Hi, it always bothered me that is quite complicated to change your skin in dcs and even impossible online. I came up with a the simple idea of a small programm that would allow one to choose a plane & skin file and then would backup and overwrite all skin-files with this one. (So it doesnt matter which skin is selected in dcs) Off course this would only work on your pc, other players will still see the default skins, also u would see every plane off that type in the skin you selected. It still could be nice for screenshots & videos or just because u like that skin ^^. Another button would allow you to restore the default skins. I know some programming and with some research i could make such a programm, first i thought of a simple batch but i may use vb6 for graphic ui and more confort. would u guys like such a programm ? Anybody knows if the skins get integrity checked so this could be a problem online ?

also had this problem, as used by the mig21 in only clicked the reload buttons and wondered why it wont work - u need to hold down the reload buttons until the gun ready light switches on - takes around 3-5 secs

Hi, well as far as i noticed there wasnt a steam exclusive dcs sale before, so might there be an "normal" sale just around the corner ? i know i could use the steam keys in the non steam version, but i hope for some discount on the mig15 /hawk / c101 as i already own the other modules ( add a "first world problems" meme here :))

in multiplayer u could easily stay behind your allies and wait for the shilkas to activate their radar. once u got lock, switch to optical and use a vikhr from safe distance.

hi, first up +1 for the tu 160, big, fast and lots of possible tasks. It might be a bit to much firepower for most missions we have atm though (not speaking of the nukes). Some guys say its boring, but if its stealth is effective enough for taking out sams like patroit & co id also like an f117 - sneak in and open the path for the a10. Also the f111 would be nice with its wide variety off weapons and jamming. i cant say i like the direction in which current modules go. Theyre all great simulations and flying em is fun, but when i comes to flying missions online theyre useless. So when flying more complex missions ure still stuck on the oldest modules - su25, a10, ka50 and fc3 fighters. I realy hope for something that fits on the dcs battlefield, not super modern or super powerfull but still a threat for the enemy - something u can do more than just target practice and aerobatics with. Instead of concentreating on its strenghts ( the simulation off a complex & dynamic battlefield, combined operations, tactics & teamwork ) dcs splits up more and more, so we got ww2, 60s, 70s and 90s + trainers. Of course more variety means more market but trying to be everybodys darling seldom works. And now some guys also want civillian stuff - i guess what they realy want is a dcs fidelity civillian plane in microsoft fs enviroment as dcs doesnt have any features that would make flying from a to b interesting. It hasnt got the variety of airports/ map size or complex air traffic control. Wheres the point off flying civillian planes full of tourists from one military base to another ? "This is your captain speaking, if u look right ull see some patriot sites firing at us" - it simply doesnt fit. Maybee its me, cause for me, watching the autopilot fly a Boing soon gets boring. But i realy guess u civillian guys would be happier in fs / xplane. Its the same like flying a fighter in fsx - it could be a great simulation of the plane itself, but theres nothing for a fighter to fight with in fsx ( i havent flown fsx for years , so i dont know if thats changed, but i guess ull get the point ) So while im happy and excited about any new dcs plane, i also wish they used the time to make a plane that brings more possibilities to the battlefield and so extends the DCS gameplay, which is more than just flying around or dogfighting. My hopes are with the f18 and its ground radar and a Cobra with tows to be an alternative to su25 & ka50. my two cents...

Youre right, it was the govenour / prop pitch set to manual. For u other guys out here - its a small black switch below the throttle lever and is has to face towards you for automatic prop-pitch. Its not set by the automatic startup. Thanks & happy flying

Hi, just recently bought the 109, went singleplayer to setup the controls and tried the "start" instant mission, with the secound try i got her off the ground and flew around some minutes without problems. Later i tried multiplayer and short after takeoff the engine suddenly stopped, gears not working too. I tried three times, all with the same result. All i can say is that it had plenty of fuel and engine temperature was ok. As i was using the automatic startup i wonder if there is something missing in the procedure which would cause this.

when i comes to sam, the ka50 still is the best option im my opinion. Of course one has to advance very carefull and scan the terrain, but then you can stay out of range or below trouble. Im curiuos about the f18 ( ground radar + HARMs ). Will the mirage have some guided ag weapons ?

very much fun in sandbox, atm campaign is short and way too easy though. But once u set yourself goals like - how far could i toss a boulder etc u can spend hours on it. Also physics seem quite accurate and its running fast & stable. So deffinitly worth the money if ure into building stuff. A way more advanced game i love is Rawbots which was canceled some months ago (website disapeared). it has more parts and also allows to programm those parts so u could build autonomus bots. Another great game like this is fantastic contraptions 1+2 - its flash and free to play http://www.fantasticcontraption.net/fantastic-contraption-2.php

thanks - i decided to start with the 190 as it seems generally more easy to fly and also offers more visibility. Just had a quick flight and it feels great. Btw the 109 says 10$ Bonus - anyone can confirm this ? Im planning to get the mig15 next month, so using the bonus i would just pay 5$ extra for the 109 ...

Hi, im not realy into the ww2 dcs planes (im more into the choppers, a10c and mig21), but as they are on sale i decided to try one. However i cant realy decide between these two (already own the p51), so i wanna ask u guys which one is the better simulation ( not the better plane ). Which ones engine managment is more complicated - stuff like prop pitch, radiator and fuel settings ? I like ground attacks, so one criteria might be the choice of bombs/rockets and canons. And finaly are there any significant bugs ? thanks tobs

Hi, i also tried the free ones - facetracks strenght is that you only need a webcam, but it often looses track and then has struggles to find you again . So i also tried building my own quick and dirty IR-diode-Tracker which, after removing the ir-filter of the webcam and adding some floppy-filter, had a quite good tracking. ( Filter removal was rather easy on my webcam, it only took some minutes ) As it was made mostly of cardboard it soon got out of shape though. hi i already wondered why there are less and less "real" missions despite from free flight and target pratice maps - so as we now know the problem and we dont know when it will be fixed, i think we should spread the knowledge and make the pilots revert to 1.2.14.35734. Maybee by adding a "Attention - this mission requires a downgrade to version ... or youll crash to desktop - see forum post...for instructions" at the top off the mission description ( i guess many pilots wont know which exact version number theyre running, so just adding 1.2.14.35734 to the server name wont help much ). greetings tobs

Hi, theres a (already known) bug related to dynamic unit spawns in the latest update that will cause clients to crash when entering a server running certain missions. So in order to play those missions youll need to downgrade DCS. I had the same problem with DCS-Belgium / Gori Valley Mission and its admin figured it out. You can do this by opening a command prompt and browsing to c:\program files\eagle dynamics\dcs world\bin ( or whereever u installed dcs) Execute in the bin directory the following command: DCS_UPDATER UPDATE 1.2.14.35734 step by step ( win7 & 8 ) click start and type "cmd" enter if u installed dcs on another drive use "drive-letter:" (for example "f:" ) to switch drives use "cd\games\dcs world\bin ( or wherever u installed your dcs ) once in the bin folder, type DCS_UPDATER UPDATE 1.2.14.35734 the updater will download around 300mb and thats it - u should be able to play online again.

Thanks - it works now Hi, thanks for your help. i just downgraded to 1.2.14.35734 and everything works fine now. Took out one complete patriot site at wp3 and disabled the one at wp4 - the other one was already down when i joined the server. For now, Its very easy to take out these patriots if u head for wp3 directly from the start and stay by the hills. I could reach the wp3 patriot only running into one manpad - later, while approaching wp4, some bandits ( f16?) got me. So i would suggest to add some tanks & airdefense between the villages on this screenshot. greetings tobs edit --- just had anouther run and there where a lot of people trying to join the server, but then leaving some secounds later (crashing i guess) - you might wanna add "use Version 1.2.14.35734" to the servers name / mission description----
