thanks. As I've been reading up on this, I'm seeing that as well. The Noctua works great for the 9700, but you definitely want water for the 9900.

I need someone to counsel me off the ledge... :-) - i7-9700k, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra, DDR4-3200 CL14 RAM, Samsung 970 Evo Plus.... tossing between the Noctua NH-D15 air cooler, or going water... I've loved using Noctua air in the past... My finger is getting itchy!!!

Lots buddy! For my gamer rig, I'm generally using it for flying DCS about 85-90% of the time. Followed by that other flight sim, and then ArmA3 and other VR titles... ;)
