  1. +1 Really sounds like heat issues. I do not overclock my GPU but I do manually turn up the fan to 60% for DCS otherwise it will start throttling after a bit. Similarily, turning off turbo mode and locking the clock on my CPU keeps the stutters down. Also, make sure Oculus or Windows are not trying to dump some updates to themselves or other loaded software...those gigabyte downloads suck system bandwidth and cause major stutters. some other tips: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=171754
  2. ...kegetys sRGB fix works a charm as long as you don't have to do multiplayer

    Well played ED

Happy 20th anniversary Matrix! Well Done Ed! On April Fools day to boot!
  4. +1 Thanks Mustang!

If you are making vids or screenshots, set textures to high, shadows to Medium or High, Terrain object shadows to default, MSAA to 4x or 8x, maybe even set ssaa to 2x, Anisotropic filtering to 16x, click full screen and tweak your gamma down a bit, you can also get some interesting effects with depth of field if your graphics card can handle it. If you are flying and need workable framerates on a low power machine start with adjusting gamma as that's free and click full screen, and add medium or low shadows, reduce clutter/grass visibility to 350 or so, turn off cockpit global illumination, rain drops and dirt/flare, and reduce chimney smoke density.
  6. Hit the nail on the head here, Thudster!
  7. Looks like there might be some work needed or at least hire a better valet for the BBQ.
  8. +1 here. Been noticing that for awhile. You have to exit out of the game whenever you change the msaa settings otherwise you get what you see. Happens in the A-10c too.
  9. The tree visibility slider has no effect on the Los Vegas map.
  10. +1 trackir tripple monitor and freeze/crash sometime audio remains on
  11. Just an aside: Make sure you watch your GPU temps and power. Overclocking can cause stuttering when the GPU throttles back just like hitting the limiter on a car throttle...I've found setting my GPU fan on a constant high speed of 75% alleviates the sputtering especially while overclocking. I'm running a Titan XP but I'll bet the 1080Ti are the same. For whatever reasons the default auto fan profile is not aggressive enough to keep the temps from banging on the ceiling. Some anti-stuttering steps: 1. GPU fan at 75% 2. CPU ratio locked 3. CPU turbo boost and power saving features turned off 4. Windows indexing turned off 5. Disable SSD write caching 6. Nvidia GPU power management set to "prefer maximum performance" 7. Disable or Enable in-game overlay feature in Nvidia Experience (seems enabling is in as of 2.5.2 open beta)
  12. Negative, not happening on my install. M2000c is a go.
  13. Quickly, thanks for all your hard work! I love the discussion on the frame render times. What was your default pixel density setting? I probably missed this somewhere so I apologize if you stated it already...
  14. I too, noticed the grid. As you get close to it, it seems like some kind of specular map catching the sun at certain angles and sort of looks like snow crystals reflecting sunlight.
  15. @311Gryphon, it was fixed a couple of updates ago.
  16. Just wanted to start a list of things that I always forget to check/re-do after a major os, mb bios, graphic driver, or application update (please add your own suggestions): 1. For Nvidia users: in manage 3d settings make sure the card is set to prefer maximum performance mode to avoid unwanted throttling. Also check refresh rates and make sure Windows is set to maximum performance in power settings. 2. Disable indexing on all drives and make exceptions for all DCS folders and exe's in anti-virus software. 3. After updating Windows: make sure that all input devices like the G27 Wheel that some use for rudder pedals have current drivers loaded...this keeps your custom control files happy. Windows tends to lose things during major updates. 4. Be sure to check all your custom mb bios settings. Keeping the CPU at constant speed and below thermal throttling thresholds helps prevent stutters--turn off the power saving features and keep fans up high if you are overclocking. 5. Increase fan speeds on your Nvidia cards to keep them from autothrottling. (I liked 60% on my TitanXp the 3090 is much better at controlling itself) 6. Make sure your graphics card is set for msi and is not sharing an irq (not sure if this is still relevant) 7. MSI Motherboard bios settings: Settings\Advanced\PCI Subsystem Setting tab and set the “Above 4G memory / Crypto Currency mining” option to “enabled. 8. Enable re-sizable bar if your hardware supports it (mb, graphics card, windows Uefi) 9. Disable game streaming overlays in nvidia experience settings and/or uninstal nvidia experience and disable windows gamebar and enable windows game mode (less micro-stutters for me). 10. Enable no_device_hotplug = true in DCS (now in game settings) 11. Blow dust out of coolers and fans in your box regularly (more than once a year). 12. You may want to check wake turbulence is off for large engagements especially large bomber formations. (not an issue with 5950) 13. If you're a VR user, set object visibility to low (gives you back 10+ fps) while enabling all the rest of the eye candy. 14. Disable graphics processor scaling in windows. 15. Keep an eye out for mega updates downloading in the background while playing DCS. Some software that will download in the background causing major stutters: Nvidia drivers, Oculus updates, Windows update, Adobe creative cloud. 16. For my old 6700k setting Windows 10 to background server vs. program worked wonders for eliminating stutters along with setting DCS to low priority. (found this trick in flight simulator 2020 hints and it works great there too). Since upgrading to an AMD 5950x, no longer needed. 17. Use a powered external USB hub for the G2. Otherwise the disconnecting usb2.0 sound driver bug can cause all kinds of hell. 18. Adjust super sampling/pixel density/resolution in SteamVR per application settings, not in DCS...you get more granularity. 19. Force Smoothing always on in SteamVR per application settings (or disable it if you're using openxr) 20. Turn off all extra programs in MSI Dragon Center if you have to use it like me for rgb lighting control.
  17. Seems like API was just what the doctor ordered vs. Zero's and Betty's early in the war--sawed off wings and caught them on fire at the same time. My experience with the H2 and .50 API was shooting up land vehicles. The round hits , you get a nice sparkle that lets you know where the hell the round ended up, and allows you to correct your aim very efficiently.
  18. What's up with the .50 cal? Rolling into a diving strafe, I am catching and passing my rounds as I fire them. Seems like the rounds are loosing too much energy too quickly.
  19. Seems the issue went away with the latest NVidia drivers 361.75 or intel hd drivers or the windows update...who knows but I'm not seeing it any longer. Came back again after a mother board bios update and audio update. I have a feeling this is definitely a resource allocation issue. Windows still doesn't seem to do it quite right.
  20. As a work around, I used Nvidia Inspector overclocking mode to adjust the P2 state back up to the P0 clock. Then when Track IR is started while the cards do go to P2, the memory clock remains fixed. I run 2x980Ti in SLI so you have to adjust the p2 state on both cards. Very cumbersome, so still hoping for a fix. You can save your settings as a shortcut through Nvidia inspector.
  21. Likely exceeding max vram with depth of field and other goodies on. Turn them down or upgrade to a 6 or 8 or even 12gb card to run. Another generation of Nvidia high vram boards will be out soon to help lower the price. We'll be looking to build a triple 4k (see 12K gaming) system later this year. Happy New Year!
