We need a "true" toggle water control option
chris455 replied to River's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
So, tell us what commands you program to your speed brake, please. You need "E" (to depress the button for WI) and "ALT t" (to lock it there). How do you do it? -
OK, These ships are simply beautiful. I think we are all in agreement. Now at the risk of sounding like a complete dufus, what can be done with them? Are they pending WWII assets that have not made it into the game? Or can they be used as a mod and placed into DCS by anyone who chooses to? I still have lots to learn about this sim............

I have determined, at least for myself, that the advice given here re: axis binding etc, does in fact work as advertised, but I sure wish the Devs would give this (and the Mustang overheating bug) some attention. After reading the changelog of the most recent update, I think a lot of those items could have taken a back seat to this problem, considering how long they have had to fix it. My two- Thanks for all the good info, guys- There is a carb air mod floating around in these forums that restores the lever animation- you might want to do a search for it-
-
Thank you for the video, all very correct procedures regarding adjusting the range finder, etc. One thing you might have overlooked is, you state you are commencing fire at 600 feet. Even if you have adjusted your range finder to this range, the fact remains your convergence is set to 1000 ft. Your K-14 sight cannot change this fixed value. If you want to hit the target at convergence range, you should set your range finder at 1000, your wingspan setting to your target's wingspan and strive to open fire at this range. ( ie., fire when his wings fill your sight at the 1000' setting). This way all of your bullets are all converging on the target for maximum effect.

I am unaware that these levers cause overheat. I thought overheat problem was caused by a bug with the cooling model. The workaround being to set both oil and coolant radiators to manual "open." This should result in significant drag but at least you won't overheat. The "levers" problem pertains to Ram Air vice Filtered Air and Carb Heat vice no Carb Heat. Shouldn't cause engine to "blow up" unless I am missing something. Whatever it is ED needs to fix it soon.

Thank you. Have you heard anything as to whether they intend to fix this?

I have been away from DCS for some time, I understand the P-51 had a problem with it's carb air controls not working properly (lack of animation/ had to bind to an axis only, etc.). Has this been corrected yet? many thanks for any helpful answers- Chris

Does anyone know when areas like Marianas, etc will be able to use this feature? Currently I can only get it to work with Caucasus. I'm using the latest stable version of the game. Thanks in advance for nay help and Happy Thanksgiving to all! Chris

Thanks all for some great info. I think I will sit tight and await the next stable version. Enjoy, be safe, and remember that in a world such as we now live in, being able to access certain modules in a video game or not is, well, a rather minor problem..............again, Thanks! Chris
-
Well, THAT escalated quickly......................... I guess I will just have to wait until the open beta is promoted to stable. Any guesses as to how long that may take? Thanks in advance - Chris
-
OK, maybe I goofed.................is it because I am still using the "Stable version"? 2.5.5 something? When 2.5.6 becomes the stable version, will I be able to use Ju-88/ other new stuff at that point? Thanks for the help and answers and stay safe out there!

Is this AC supposed to be available now as an AI? Why do I not see it in ME? Thank you for any helpful comments.

P-47D was used in PTO, even some bubbletop versions in Phillipines, IIRC. See 348th Fighter Group.

We are? Did I miss something???:helpsmilie:

Disregard guys- don't know what I initially did wrong, but my 2nd attempt at an autoexec.cfg worked. Maybe this will help others, good flying in any case !

Latest update..

Consider going into the Modules Manager that appears on the initial game screen. From there, select "Modules," let the list populate and ensure they are all installed/enabled. Hope that helps- Chris -
Hello gents, Does anyone know of a way to lock framerates in DCS World 2.5.1? There are old threads on this subject, but there no longer appears to be an autoexec.cfg in C;\Users\User\Saved Games\DCS\Config. When I append an autoexec.bat file with max refresh instructions in Config, my game will not launch. I am seeking to limit framerates to around 60 so they do not exceed my monitors maximum refresh rate and cause stutters. Thanks in advance for any help- Chris

Those instructions are fairly straightforward.

Thanks for the replies guys- moving my skins to my saved games folder!

Gentlemen, I recently tried to install a skin for my P-51D, and it seems that now that I am using DCS 2.5, I no longer have a P-51 liveries folder. In DCS/Coremods/aircraft, my F-86 shows up just fine, and I can install skins for it, so I know that this is the correct path. But my Mustang folder just went "poof." Can someone share with me the exact syntax for the naming of the p-51 folders e.g, "Coremods/aircraft/P-51/Liveries/P-51D" or whatever it exactly is, so I can create a new folder for my skins? I would be indebted. Thanks and have a great weekend all! :pilotfly:

Guys, May I delete my original DCS World 1.5 install after sucessfully updating to 2.5 OB? Thanks!

Try flying against the Dora for awhile. Currently, the AI in DCS are UFOs. No energy bleed, not affected by G, aircraft trimmed perfectly at all times, constantly @ max power with no overheat. This is said to be under review and may change. As it stands, the Dora is much easier to kill in the P-51 right now, I would let the 109 alone until the AI gets calibrated. Otherwise it's mostly an exercise in frustration and even if you do succeed against them there is nothing really to learn except how to overcome a completely overmodeled myth. BTW- "Rinky dink" K14 sight is actually very accurately modeled and if you use it properly it will result in a quick kill almost every time. S! PS- A couple more things- are you flying with a wingman? If you are alone, the AI will concentrate 100% on you, greatly reducing your chances. A wingman will occupy at least some of their attention and give you more opportunites to get nose position on them. Also- Dont dive after them if you can resist the temptation. The AI will almost always go into a steep dive to lower altitudes, then black you out with impossible G pullouts. The P-51 shines at the higher altitudes, especially against the 190. Keep tally on them and resume your ACM when they attempt to regain altitude.
