Yes as said above, you are most probably experiencing FPS drops. The time frames are much higher and it may look like stuttering. But if this is happening at the same level of details as you had with your 1080ti, then something is wrong.
-
Sure I'm using TrackIr too, It took me several days to learn to use it efficiently, but it paid off. Also the main part with TrackIr was to setup my own profile with much more aggressive curves so I do not have to move my head so much. VR is something I would want to try, but I do not think that I will use it until the performance hit will not be so high.

Hitting a power limit should not cause stutters but rather cap your frames at certain point. I'm using different power limits all the time and it only changes the total Watts allowed for the GPU. Hitting the power limit is nothing wrong or bad, it only means that the GPU is utilized to 100% which is OK. What could cause problems is Thermal limit (but your temperatures look ok). It's not clear what is happening from the image you have provided. But I will guess that the GPU is trying to change into a different (higher) power state but fails to do so due to some limitations. You have only two states of the power limit there which is strange, graph with percentage would be better I suppose. Do you use some FPS limiter in game? For example Vsync or FPS target via drivers, if not try it. If you want to measure how much power the GPU draws, try to install GPU-Z and check the logs. Stuttering usually comes from other sources though, power limit would only limit your max fps. Maybe your CPU is throttling?

I would like to know if the Vulkan implementation is still a thing in development, or what is the current status of the project. I cannot wait to see some performance upgrades that may happen alongside with it. Can we have some info in a newsletter? Thank you.

Stennis aircraft elevators work and are fricking COOL!!!

Check the life stream footage. -
I think you can already simulate it in DCS, although not with the forest fires, those are not in yet. :)

That reminds me that ED still has their own carrier in works. I would love to see that in action too. -
Early January would be ok with me. Do not stone me! :D

I would upgrade the GFX first. But before you do so, try one thing which helps me. Run the DCS in full screen and make sure that it is in full screen by pressing ALT+ENTER when you load a mission. Check your FPS afterwards. If it will not improve then plan your upgrade. :)

PSU will not cause graphical issues, if the PSU would not be sufficient, your system would be unstable, it would either restart randomly or shut down completely. Visual issues are usually tied to either overheating, game issues, drivers issues or graphical settings overall.

Looking at your CPU, yes, it is most probably your problem here. CPUs based on Buldozzer cores were not so good. Effectively they are 50% behind in IPC of curent ones even though they can clock higher. In your case, buying better gpu will not help much. You will be better with new cpu. Both AMD and Intel are comparable today. Intel still has a slight edge in DCS if you go pure high end though. With AMD you should be looking at the new Ryzens (1600/2600x, 1700/2700x). With Intel any high cloking i5 or i7. My specs are i7 4790k 4.4Ghz, 16GB RAM, Vega64. I will be upgrading next year to the new AMD ryzen platform.

Here is the official announcement: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3338291&postcount=123 I believe there was more talk about it, that it is done, but they have to convert all shaders for vulkan before it will be usable. Anyway for DCS, I have found one HUGE thing that helps performance on my system. For some reason the full screen option marker in options does not work properly. I have to press ALT+ENTER when I enter any mission to get proper Full screen, this alone pretty much doubles my FPS in DCS. My screen is 75hz one, I'm capped on 75fps in 1440p while flying. It oscillates between 60-75 when looking at the ground. Here are my settings: https://imgur.com/a/U5how8b

It is not a rumor, it's confirmed by ED. :) I'm playing with most of the settings on high/ultra, preload on max. etc. I did not have to sacrifice much. I do see dips down to 30fps in very dense missions but only at the ground, never in flight. But mostly Freesync is helping a lot to keep things smooth.

How does the vega 64 do in dcs?
Jumbik replied to TonyStovepipe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Depends in what resolution you will play. Vega is good for 1080p, ok in 1440p. I'm playing DCS with most settings on max in 1440p with no issue. Anyway DCS will get VULKAN implementation soon, so the performance will probably change significantly for better then. -
Objectively, 2080ti will be always better performer than Vega 64, but for what price? :) I would wait for any "final" judgement for the VULKAN implementation in DCS (hopefully soon) as that should change things a bit. I'm playing DCS with Vega 64, no problems on my end in 1440p. No VR though.

** Anytime, Baby! - NEW TRAILER & TRACK PREMIERE **
Jumbik replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Those shots that feature ships in background firing... breathtaking. -
It feels like watching Top Gun again. :D
-
I would want to try both, but I'm leaning towards pilot.
-
Additional level of control for the hosting server is always welcome. Even more so if the feature can have performance impact on the server. We will have to see how RIO will affect multiplayer performance, maybe RIO will not be even usable in heavy lag situation.
-
I wonder how many people will want to be RIOs instead of Pilots.
-
Are you on budget? If yes then go with Ryzen. If not, Intel will be better, not by much, but it will be. We may see a big difference though when the game switches to Vulkan API (and hopefully more cores will be utilized).

is 3200mhz RAM that much better than 2666mhz?
Jumbik replied to Bazmack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For Ryzen build, yes it makes a difference. Also using two slots only combined with high mhz is the best combination. http://www.legitreviews.com/ddr4-memory-scaling-amd-am4-platform-best-memory-kit-amd-ryzen-cpus_192259/6
