I use the FD On method when: 1. In combat and target locked 2. Defensive flying FD Off when: 1. Cruising to target area 2. Acquiring target in a slow manner or hover. I think disabling the AP channels is not the correct way of doing it. It's just not meant to fly without them as they will provide cyclic control damping when the flight director mode is engaged. With flight director mode on, you will have a helicopter that flies more like the huey in a sense, with the trim and all, and an autopilot that wont have "it's own say" in where you're going.

New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Update: I had an hour long chat session with nVidia and they strongly believed faulty card, suggested me to RMA / return it. According to them, it should work, even in my old system. The GPU clock stuck at 300Mhz always is not normal operation in any system. -
New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
See post below. That is NOT the problem. But sure it will bottleneck some, however it will not get me lower frames per second than my GTX 980. If that's how you think it works, you've got it wrong man. But yes it will bottleneck to the extent that I'd only get between 80-85% performance out of the RTX 2080, and I don't care about that for the time being. A complete system upgrade will happen soon enough. Generally speaking, 80-85% performance of a RTX 2080 would give way more FPS than 100% performance of a GTX 980. -

Thanks for that. Yeah I honestly didn't see how it was a system problem. Still, I'm gonna do a last test in another system this afternoon. If the problem remains then it's confirmed to be a card issue. Yeah thanks all for your input so far!:thumbup::thumbup: -
New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah. I'll test the thing to start up with only one PCIe power cord connected. I think I forgot on of those once back in the day and iirc the computer did not start at all (or gave a few beeps and no display at all) but I'll test that none the less. I want to test it in another computer, but I dont have another gaming rig. And I don't think my friend is too keen on testing it in his PC, so to not start having driver issues and stuff himself.. Honestly, I don't see how much can be wrong with the computer, as my old GTX 980 performed well to this day, (better than this new 2080). And, that card also requires both PCIe Power connectors to be connected so they both SHOULD be working :/ -

The 0 mV was just a MSI Afterburner setting thing. Still, yeah, while troubleshooting and googling I've come to understand there's been some problems with the series. -
New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There's really not much to change in the BIOS regarding the GPU, basically just the "first display adapter" which is set to PCIe and not iGPU. The PSU is a 750W, so should be enough. Since the card only running at 300Mhz, temps don't go up by more than a few degrees C while in game. -

Yeah I found that late last night and tried it and the voltage meter showed proper values. Problem still persists though. -
New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, I'm getting 29FPS in a simple free flight mission running mid gfx settings on a single 1080P output. Where my old GTX 980 would give me 60-70 FPS. -
New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks all for the tips. However seems like something might be wrong with the card. It never adjust GPU clock speed to above 300Mhz, which means the card is performing just 20% of min capacity (1500Mhz) or 17% of max capacity (1710Mhz). My first thought after discovering this was that maybe one of the PCIe power connectors wasn't connected properly, but I've checked and double checked and they're connected properly. -

This is not a DCS issue. All games affected. And still, getting worse performance than my old card in all games. So it's not bottleneck. -

How do I check that? Does this tell you something? Is my card only running at 300Mhz??? Volt is also showing 0? -

Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the tip. I disabled my NIC, rebooted to safe mode and ran DDU clean and then shutdown. Started up, installed latest drivers, same result :( :( :( Did I just waste $730 on a graphics card??? How is it even possible that I get MUCH worse performance with a 2080 over a 980??? Heeeeeeelp! -

No. Whats that? EDIT: Ok Display Driver Uninstaller. I'll give that a try. -
So here goes. Just exchanged my old GX 980 to an RTX 2080. I'm getting WORSE performance in games with the 2080. DCS is like giving me 60% of what it used to with my old 980. Where i would see 60-70 FPS with the GTX980, I now see 30-40 with the 2080. GPU shows 100% in windows task manager, and thats in just 1080p and not at all maxed out settings. Help! What could be wrong?

[REPORTED]Water Flickering (NOT screen flickering)
Wizard1393 replied to bandit648's topic in General Bugs
I tested discwalkers track and I notice no flickering at first when approaching the sea. But when the flight turns south/left/batumi direction I see flickering again sadly. Very subtle, but it's there. Also only in cockpit view, not in external. So apparently I was wrong. -

Oh, sorry! Was so sure I had it! No nothing else changed. It just went away after updating the driver and also deleted metashaders2 and fxo folders. EDIT: Since it seems to have worked for me I would still recommend people trying it. -

Water flickering seems to be a problem with a specific nVidia driver version. Updated my driver to 430.86 (there an even newer one now) and the problem went away. -
