So how do I set the laser code on the bombs? Not finding it on the kneeboard. And where do I set the TGP laser code?

[FIXED]IA not firing in MP -norender servers
Wizard1393 replied to Maverick87Shaka's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I believe this was fixed in last weeks open beta. EDIT: Yes, checked the change log again, "Dedicated Server. Issues with -norender and AI not attacking now fixed." -
I'm necroing this thread to give Hoffster's suggestion my +1 vote. EDIT: Also agree with grunf's comment, that in case implemented, drift should still be the default option, and servers should be able to enforce the option.

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
Wizard1393 replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
Yes. I fully agree with you. I'm indeed very thankful that we have such a driven community that supplies most of the gameplay/mission/campaign content. So however, back to topic, sure there are aspects of my experience with this that are due to DCS AI, but I'm sniffing some issues might be down to bugs in this framework, possibly due to changes in mission layout tables and/or in DCS code in general. There's been many updates to DCS since the last update of DCS Liberation. Perhaps it did work as intended when released. Is no one else having issues? Maybe I'm the dummy doing something wrong? I'd really like this to work as I imagine the designer intended it to work. As I was saying above, loving the concept! @shdwp how's it going? Is the project still alive? Got any suggestions for me to get better results? -
[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
Wizard1393 replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
So I tried this today. Loving the idea. However, actual function didn't turn out great for me. So I started a new campaign on caucasus. Bought 12 F/A-18C's and put on Suganlug starting point. So first mission I chose strike/sead, assign 4 AC as Strike pkg, 4 as SEAD, and 4 as escort, where as 1 client slot inside the strike pkg. I click to enable AWACS and launch the mission. My (strike) package spawns in, and escort package is spawned in the air. The SEAD package or AWACS is NOT spawned in. 5 minutes into my flight, the escorts have vanished (crashed somehow). I proceed to target anyway. We encounter 2 Mig-23's and shoot them down. 2 of my wingmen drop all their strike ordnance. We get to target and I start bombing until I run out of bombs. Tell #2 wingman that still has bombs, to "Engage mission and rejoin" upon where he decides to go down low on the weird ingress he's taking, skims the tree tops and then crashes into the forest. We return to base with 1 80%-ish target destroyed and 9 blue hornets destroyed. EDIT: I understand this comes off as very negative. Don't get me wrong! I love this idea! Sadly it doesn't work properly for me. I tried several times with new campaign, trying different packages and mission. It was hit and miss, mostly miss in regards to what was expected to happen. I'm guessing due to changes in DCS that makes this tool not work as good as it perhaps once did? -
That should not be a problem. Laser can be armed (ON). It only starts "burning out"/taking damage when frequently laser ranging. Possibly during actual laser missile guidance too.

No 2 is solvable with trigger zones and MiST scripting library, there are functions that does specifically this. What is lacking though in the DCS Scripting Environment is a way to determine if a spot on the ground is in a forest or on top of a building. It can determine road/land/runway/water, but not forest or building. So the way I usually do it is set up a rather large amount of possible spawn zones that does not contain forest or buildings, and then have the script randomly pick one of the spawn zones and then randomly spawn a unit group within that zone.

It's also located in "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Su-25T\Doc", as long as your install is in the "default" path at C:\Program Files\ off course
-
It probably does nothing yet in the hornet. I only know so far that it does something for the KA-50. The wingman will scout ahead and send you all targets he sees over the datalink. I can't remember if this feature is available in the A-10C...

New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It gives me roughly 80-120 FPS on "normal unit density" missions, where my old 980 would give me 40-60 FPS, so it's a good ~100% increase in FPS. In MP on larger missions with lots of clients and lots of AI units, like Red Snow or Hoggits GAW/PGAW it's less, around 60-80 FPS, due to my old Core i5 3570K CPU bottlenecking performance. Worth mentioning is also that I now run the game with 4x MSAA and Terrain Object Shadows on, where I before ran it with 2x MSAA and Terrain Object Shadows was set to Flat. -
Units set to do not show in planner still show in planner
Wizard1393 replied to Skarp's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I think the hide in planner option is only regarding the mission planner in SP. You use the "normal" HIDDEN option to hide from F10 map in MP. -
Don't know if I agree. Theres the "regular" HIDDEN checkbox that will hide it altogether. Why not use that? I think this option if for when the mission designer wants the pilots of these aircraft to still have the threat rings / target marked on the AC systems, but not let the pilot check exact position in the mission planner. Also, this only affects SP missions, as there's no planner for MP.

Wasn't there recently discussions about this range and shortly thereafter a "fix" for this? As in that they extended this range to like 15nm or something to alleviate problems with buddylasing? I might remember incorrectly about 15nm but I know there were discussions about shortcomings on the laser range. EDIT: Found one of the discussions about Maximum Laser Range... People talk about an effective laser range of about 8nm in DCS, but there was a bug that if the lasing source was >8nm away, the "spot" would actually float mid air. I don't find any posts about this being fixed/changed or extended.
-
Yes it does. In the video in post #5 by TLTeo, at 7:32, it's shown that if one aircraft is jamming and another aircraft is within 5000ft of the jamming aircraft, the aircraft NOT jamming is also hidden by the jamming plane.
-
Yes. Zoom = FOV in DCS. Not to be confused with head movement forwards/backwards. You can have custom views.lua and snapviews.lua in saved games folder and it will pass integrity check.

Silkworm radar ignoring earths curvature
Wizard1393 replied to Capn kamikaze's topic in General Bugs
Yeah, true, but engagement / detection envelopes are capped programmatically to simulate IRL conditions. The Grim Reapers has done a YouTube video on this recently proving that this is the case. -

Wizard1393 replied to Surrexen's topic in User Created Missions General
Or one can quite simply include some extra scripting to respawn tanker and awacs once they land. Just a friendly suggestion. Mission looks good, I'm having a go at it some day now! :pilotfly: -
Wow. THAT's not right at all.

New RTX 2080, very poor performance
Wizard1393 replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks everyone for input in this thread. I had the card exchanged to another one and the new card works properly. Unclear exactly what was the issue. The first card didn't work in my computer, but worked in another computer. So then my friend offered to put his 2080 in my computer and that worked. So one could say the card was faulty, as nVidia also concluded, as it SHOULD have worked in my computer too. But obviously somehow had issue with my specific configuration which I find weird. -
Yes. It's been in for quite a while. Don't know if it happens still that the AI sometimes lands in pairs on the carrier too  , or if that has been corrected.
-
That, or better still, you can simply switch between them quite simply... hold my cosmo while I find the info how...it's around here on the forums. EDIT: In the command prompt, go to your DCS install dir and go into the bin directory and then type: DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta To change back to stable release type: DCS_updater.exe update @release

LGBs and the TGP - Firing the laser after or before pickle?
Wizard1393 replied to obious's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It should work either way, so most probably a bug. However, firing the laser right from the drop might sometimes cause the bomb not to have enough energy to reach the target, especially if dropping from very high altitudes, like 20 000ft or higher. To my knowledge it seems to be best to start lasing 10-12 seconds before impact. -
TGP return to center anyone? xD
