[FIXED INTERNALLY] Water Too Transparent on Low Setting
Razi replied to Loukuins's topic in General Bugs
I also fly on low and just noticed this in VR. Can hardly make out the surface of the water at all. You can easily the entire ships as if they were floating in air. -
MISSIONS Practice Bug F/A-18C AGM-65E Practice w/JTAC
Razi replied to JUICE-AWG's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I've been trying to fix this mission as well doing the same thing, but for some reason DCS freezes when I load it. All I have done is added an ROE option to hold weapons and perform invisible command as options 2 and 3 which has worked for me when I create missions with JTAC. Not sure what is going on with this mission. Edit: Actually I think the op is referring to a different mission perhaps. I've been trying to fix the one with the filename "Nevada FA-18C Maverick Practice.miz" Edit 2: The freezing has something to do with the default High graphics settings. Works on Low settings. So far only this missions does this for me. -
[CANNOT REPRODUCE, MISSING TRACK FILE] Is the TA vector missing in STT?
Razi replied to Razi's topic in Bugs and Problems
I started a thread on this in the bug forum: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=240037 Doesn't seem to be high on the priority list. -
Is changing comm 1, ch 1 to something other than the flight possible?
Razi replied to Razi's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
This works good for missions I create. At least I can do that, thanks! -

Razi replied to Razi's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
'Tis what I'm hoping to accomplish, if possible in DCS. Thanks Seldo, I'll try that out. I also wonder if the mission card feature in the works will sort this out. -
Is changing comm 1, ch 1 to something other than the flight possible?
Razi replied to Razi's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I don't think it changes mid-mission. But I definitely wasn't clear, I'll edit the original post. I meant in the mission editor. Currently I use comm 1 basically for flight only and comm 2 for everything else. I've understood that in real life it is usually the other way around and comm 1 ch 1 is usually the tower/paddles. Not a huge deal, but would be fun to have DCS setup this way if possible. -
Is it possible to set comm 1 ch 1 to anything other than the flight's frequency? Currently, changing comm 1, ch 1 also changes the flights frequency it seems (in the mission editor). As a result, it doesn't seem possible to set comm 1, ch 1 to anything other than the flight. I'm hoping to be able to set it to tower/Paddles.

Thanks @Harker. That is helpful. -

The track is attached to the first post. Do you mean that you see the TA vector in STT? It is clearly absent in the screenshots posted and that is what I see when I replay the attached track. I've tried repairing DCS, but no change. -
By the way the FFB improvements are fantastic! Thank you for putting the effort in, makes the jet far more enjoyable for those with FFB as in this aircraft it actually matters to flying it. As an aside, the only thing hindering my full enjoyment of the module is the text readability in VR. I can read the instruments fine, but even with high textures I have a terribly difficult time reading any of the fine text. Other modules in VR with low textures, I can read the text perfectly fine.

Vibration pad/chair make it easier to fly?
Razi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can't speak for the Jetseat, but if it is helpful, as for transducers (buttkicker) this is my setup and experience. I have transducers on the base of my simpit and feeling the effects through the feet and naturally up through the seat to my body and the HOTAS is pretty convincing. I originally had one directly mounted to the seat under my butt, but it proved to feel too artificial as it was too locally focused on my butt. Feeling the effects through my feet as well as body was a much bigger change than I thought when I was experimenting. Firing the gun is one of the coolest things, especially in VR, with the whole pit shaking! -
Disclaimer: I realize this is a rather specific context, but I can "wish" for things in the wish list, and you never know right? I would love to be able to adjust/move the main menu widget in VR. There are two primary reason that have led to this request for me. I align DCS by placing the VR headset on a fixed point in my physical simpit and adjust the default snapview such that the headset's physical location matches the corresponding in game location. This helps greatly in creating a consistent alignment with my physical controls (HOTAS, toggle switches, etc.). It also has the benefit of aligning properly when my friends/family fly in the simpit as their differences in height are taken into account. The problem: The main menu widget gets centered directly in front of the original position of the headset. So when someone picks it up and puts it on, the widget is offset by the distance from the alignment location and the users head. [*]I would find it more comfortable looking at menu/mission editor/kneeboard/on screen text/etc. if I was able to lower it a little and adjust the distance. I personally don't put my monitor such that my eyes are aligned to the vertical center. I find it much more ergonomic to have my eyes aligned at a minimum in the top third. The distance to the monitor also make a significant difference to the comfort level for me. Anyways, thanks for viewing this (hopefully) at a minimum.

Vibration pad/chair make it easier to fly?
Razi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use VR and SimShaker with DIY transducers. Like others have said, at first I felt like it was a fun addition and an improvement to the flying experience, but nothing I couldn't live without - until they suddenly stopped working after a few months of flying... Now I can't fly without it, it just seems empty and lifeless. As for help in actual flying, the stall buffet/high AOA feedback I find to be very helpful in developing an intuition for managing speed/energy, the rest though, for me, is just immersion enhancing. For example, it is quite satisfying to me to flick my toggle switch for the gear and feel the impact of the gear lowering and raising or having a subtle vibration when the speed brakes are fully deployed in addition to the audio cues (which I've been told does happen in real aircraft). On this note, I recently invited a local Harvard (Canadian T-6) instructor pilot over and he tried out DCS in my setup. He confirmed in the T6, at least, you do in fact feel the gear lowering and raising and my setup gave a decent approximation of the feeling. He also found the simulated stall buffet a helpful approximation to the real world counterpart. -
Inspired by Doum76's cockpit version, I made my own. Everything works good, but the main menu is obscured by the cockpit model as it is outside the front canopy glass instead of instead the cockpit unlike ingame where the main menu appears overtop of the cockpit. Also, is there a way to adjust the position and size of the main menu?

I fly in VR and I find that the JHMCS isn't aligned with my eye level. It must be the way the headset sits on my face, but JHMCS is displayed about 10 degrees above my eye level such that when I'm sitting, eyes level, looking at the horizon, JHMCS is displayed above the HUD. I have to tilt my head down and look up slightly to have JHMCS centered with the HUD. I assume this is the kind of alignment the pilots do each time? Is there anyway currently to correct the JHMCS in VR?

Great thanks! That makes sense.

@Blue73 If you don't mind me asking, how do you opt to organize all of your components/bodies/sketches in Fusion 360 for such a large project? I struggle with this aspect as my projects grow.

Here is the mission if you want to play with it. My Nevada JTAC Test.miz

Ensure that the FAC task options are set properly. Here is a screenshot of the same JTAC I posted earlier.

Here is the version minus the MGRS which I use, if anyone is interested. JTAC-Coordinates-DMS-no-MGRS.zip
-
This version works with VA/VIACOM. I've been using it and just tested it out again today. It is only the Hornet version though. I added MGRS back in to attach here as I had taken it out because it is useless in the Hornet currently. There may be issues with it as I don't know what all was modified in the original version and I only modified the MGRS function and didn't touch the rest of the file. However, it seems to work exactly as I wanted. JTAC gives me the Lat/Long in Degrees Minutes Seconds for the Hornet. JTAC-Coordinates-DMS.zip

I use JSGME and as I said I ended up replacing the modded NATO.lua in the mod (in JSGME) with the original file, then manually copying over the code. Again, a huge thanks for this!
-
Here is a screenshot of the JTAC I set up and been practicing AGM-65E's with. He was getting killed at first.
-
So I suspect there is code elsewhere in the file that might be modified that is breaking VA/VAICOM, but I didn't search for it.
