New Flares in OpenBeta 1.2.12......?!?!?
Jester Darrak replied to FlyNate's topic in General Questions
€dit: It would be fun to see how cumulating effects are like two flares in close proximity not doubling their blinding/glaring effect but instead having the effect being exponentially increased. -
New Flares in OpenBeta 1.2.12......?!?!?
Jester Darrak replied to FlyNate's topic in General Questions
Naah, I like the new flares, looking better, different for every each flare. But the star-like glaring seems a bit overdone. Cameras often have problems with too high contrasts but the Mk 2 eyeball can handle high contrasts way better which is why it looks too artificial. But on the other hand the further you move away the more should the star shine over the "round" glare effect. It's like looking at a welding torch. The closer you get, the more you're blinded. The further you are away, the clearer you see the actual welding flame. -

The F-16 at least was proposed to the Navy as navalized variant with only one prototype but ultimately lost to the Hornet - which lost against the Falcon in the USAF exhibition. But no Falcon for the Corps. -

That's not swing wing, more like aero-elastic wing if I look at your image. :-D -

rdcufsgxq is the codeword and a7b3 is the cipher. R D U C F S G X Q C A L V E R T O N There is no Bush, no Carrier, nothing. The cipher A7B3 just happens to be HW using the affine code. Numbers are not taken into account or else it should be H7W3. Still funny that the cipher, at least partially, is another highly anticipated aircraft for DCS. ;-) -

JFK isn't dead, he lives in Canada now, playing Poker with Elvis, Hendrix and Marylin Monroe. You all know that! I like riddles as much as most of you do and I was also desperately thrilled when they started throwing out hints about ArmA 3. But the last comment of Cobra was not a hint in my opinion. Sure, it might mean something, but unless you're a coder or work for an intelligence service it just seems to me to be random letters/numbers. You can't give clear hints at first just to distract with that jidder. That doesn't make any sense to me. And then you have this trolling wannabe jokers out there posting senseless comments and or solutions. Looks like I am more disgusted of some peoples immaturity than the way Cobra is playing that game. Or us, who knows. And unless someone can prove Cobras post to be an actual hint by breaking the code or whatever it is, it still looks like trolling. If I was asked, the truth will be revealed on April 1st, 2015. -

That's what I'm talking about! NDA this, NDA that, why not be quiet in the first place? I don't want them not to develop anything, but _this_ is not the way to treat customers. Cobra did the avatar switching intentionally, which is either, like said before, the biggest troll in history, or a way to announce something. And no NDA says 'don't speak straight but you may place tons of hints unless you're not talking the name out loud'. I'm just disappointed. -

It's not about the quality of their product which might be top notch. It's the way to treat the community. Either say nothing or be straight forward. Everything else leads to speculations and there comes a point where I say for myself "enough of this". You can have great products but won't sell anything if you act like this. It was funny in the opening stages of this thread when Cobra started giving hints with his avatar. But instead of either confirming or denying it there cimes this jidder where at best 0.01 % of this community might know what the code means if it even is the code. I'm just sick of playing games when the answer was already clear to me. Honestly, to me it is arrogance, espacially considering the quality of the MiG. He said some will love them, some will hate them and some will even (don't know the exact words) wish them something even worse. Well done, goal #3 achieved! -

There was a much longer rant in here but I decided to shorten it a bit. Really? I can't say if it was irony or trolling but not everyone is familiar with morse code, so thanks for stealing 2 hours of my lifetime. It wasn't even funny, but all this cryptic shit is driving me nuts. Why can't they just say what it is? Or at least _when_ they will announce what they are doing next. Honestly, that's the easiest way to drive away potential customers. This ain't teasing, this is taunting. Can't believe no-one is as pissed as I am. Btw: It says NO HIDDEN CODE HERE -
Procedure on A-10C is a bit different, but the functionality is the same. Make HUD SOI, set TGP boresight, slew onto desired target, attack. It's probably easier as you don't need to fiddle around with different detents on a single button.

If you try to fight a MiG21 with a Starfighter you can as well stay at home. The Starfighter is anything but a fighter, it's an Interceptor. Get up and on spot fast, bang a bomber and go home again. The Mig is made with dogfighting in mind. German Airforce first used the F-104 as a Fighter, Fighterbomber and CAS aircraft and that's why it's got the nickname Widow Maker. It's fast, but it's nowhere near agile. Not in a hundred years a match for the MiG, just a victim. -

Simulating Iranian Tomcats? Easy! Just roll a dice before you flip a switch. Unless you're 5 or higher you are not allowed to do so. :D -

Thats why I wrote "could be mistaken to point towards the A-4". I just implied that Cobra took the wrong picture as it can make us think it's the Skyhawk. Or he took it because it's from Top Gun. Anyways, the Tomcat it is. :D -

He is playing us. He is playing us so hard that I feel like a addicted prostitude that wants drugs from her sadistic dealer/pimp. No offense intended. But anyways: He gave us enough hints about what it is. The tail colours, the part of Michael Ironside in Top Gun, the Cat's dish. Just wait until they announce the KittyCat. ;-) Before I forget: "Jester" flew a Skyhawk throughout the entire movie, so the hint could be mistaken to point towards the A-4. -

Thread title is misleading, please edit. What do you want to know, if the idle temps are good or if the voltage is good? Add a screenshot of your CPU-Z, then we'll see. ;)

How close in order to request 'inbound'
Jester Darrak replied to fitness88's topic in F-15C for DCS World
You can request inbound from everywhere though I'm not sure which aircraft is declared clear first by the ATC. It is either the closest one or the one who radioed inbound first. But that ain't nice if you're a hundred miles out, request inbound and have the runway blocked for planes that are way closer. You can switch to an airdome that's not on the list by using the respective function key for Next Side or something like that. On the other hand it's something not often practiced unless you're playing on a server with strict ATC rules and/or LotAC. Procedure is requesting navigation assistance to actually get to the airdome and once you're there, go on a go-around while checking for other aircrafts on approach or pattern and then requesting inbound. When you got clearence, proceed to landing. The kneeboard should help you with ATC charts for every single airfield and their corridors/routes. -
Some loadouts might be outdated as the Rockeyes have been removed from the game. Did you use pre-set loadouts or try to add ordnance manually?

Spacebar is only for Guns or "Fire Weapon", you need to assign "Release Weapon", which uses RALT+Space as keystroke, to a button of your choice on your joystick. Remember, you need to hold the "Weapon Relese" Key/Button to actually release the bomb or missile.

Do NOT use TARGET! Always use direct inputs, emulated and scripted keypresses always mess up controls as there are a bunch of keyboard modifiers that do different things. Left CTRL + A does this Left ALT + A does that Left ALT + Left CTRL + A does something completeley different. And that is what you get working with Target. Made the Eagle ready for TM Warthog for a friend, can give you a nice setup tomorrow.

I don't know thr exact numbers but they are just conversions. Maximum speed of the eagle is at high altitudes 2.5x the speed of sound. This would mean at sea level, where speed of sound is ~330m/s, 2.5 Mach are equal to 1,650 miles per hour or 2,665 kilometers per hour. Interestingly the Mach Number is always IAS as it is bound to fluid dynamics such as temperature, density et cetera. The latter numbers are ground speed at standard conditions, just for better comparison. That's why Felix Baumgartner could break the sound barrier in free fall. Because air was less dense, resulting in less drag and due to lower speed of sound at extreme altitude, he had to reach a lower total velocity compared to ground speed.
