Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 6

Funny enough, there are members from well respected squadrons out there using that exploit. -

Server stability also became an issue. Within 2 hours I lost 3 lives just because of server crashes right after take off. Kinda frustrating. But what's worse: Red 27s pulling up their gear on ramp, request repairs and once finished, their tanks are full. -

I'm not talking about the AI 29A's but the 29S for players. Only RED has them and they're so freaking resilient you need to splash them up to 3 times! -

Can we please ban the 29's for players on such missions? It's ridiculous that you need 2 or even 3 missiles to finally kill that SFM plane. You put 30 shells of 20mm into him and he keeps flying, turns around and kills you. That's stupid. -
I'm available. Just gimme a call. ;)
-
Yeah, that's basically what I'm talking about. But it's also easy to avoid g-loc and even breaking your wing if you plan ahead a bit. But lots of people play this sim with what hollywood told us in mind. And then GGTharos wastes his time to prove them wrong.^^
-
But g-loc is not the issue here. Your "pilot" can sustain around 7-7,5g, if you black out at 900km/h you're definetly doing something wrong.

Maneuverability has nothing to do with this. It's very agile at LOW speeds, but negative relaxed stability comes at a price: high wing load. The limiter serves a purpose. I sometimes think people just fly the wrong way. Always turn as hard as they can, pulling 2-digit g's, flying Mach 1.6 at 45k and jump-snipe on bandits. With some brain work you can easily reduce stress on pilot and airframe. But then again online competitive is always about kill/death ratio so people just jump into the pit, burn towards bullseye, drop their tanks, spam some missiles and then burn home. It seems no-one - or at least only a few - actually try flying responsively. It's the arcade mind in a simulation environment that stops you from improving.

Does the F-15 even need this "feature"? I mean, it's called the flying tennis court, it's huge wings make for a significantly lower wing-loading than the Flanker and thus should never enter the regime in where the wings would break off. The thing is, many people think the Flanker is unflyable in this state and the F-15 is in arcade mode. But it's the other way around. The Flanker was in arcade mode with the ability to pull a Cobra at around M1.0 or even higher speeds. Did you ever break your wings off in the A-10C? If yes, did you change the way you fly the A-10C and did it happen again? What the F-15 needs is proper damage modeling for overspeeding and/or gear down on high speeds. I was able to go M2.2 with bags on a few days ago.

Maybe someone used the wrong lase code because the "rogue" bombs hitjust the spot the B/N was lasing.

That sounds disgusting! :P Great news on the other hand. :D

Red Flag 5 - Fight for the Right!

Is it possible to let Tacview record while the battle is live? I mean, it's payware, shouldn't be there a possibilty? -
Well, getting teamspeak to work should be your top priority before entering a server in MP the very first time. It's true that there are many people out there who are eager to help if kindly asked, but don't expect that during a live session since the credo is mostly "that's no place to practice". But, if you join TS and ask for someone to take you by the hand for the first steps before jumping into a MP session you will get help. So make your TS work, it shoulf be fool-proof. ;) Edit: what's the issue with your TS? Maybe we can sort it out quickly.

Me thinks the bug is not in the Tacview but in the server track. -

After flying as Challenger in RF4 I now had the opportunity to fly as Aggressor and I must say it was a great pleasure. Those guys I flew with are true professionals and absolutely cool-headed. There were eight or so guys in our channel and communication was absolutely perfect and spot on. I remember other sessions with panic and chatter and all that stuff that distracts you from doing your job but that was absolutely not the case here. There was so much confidence and true belief in each other that many of us went up without a dedicated wingman and the next friendly aircraft 10NM behind. Then Plaiskool went on his rampage what boosted our morale even higher, even with losing Sweeper and Ocelot in the early stages of tze battle. Thank you, guys, you really are gentlemen gangsters! Salute, Jester -

Can I sign up as referee?

JOINT WARRIOR ROUND 5 - TACTICAL PVP BATTLE

Dear fellow pilots, at first I'd like to apologize for not showing up for the final battle without further notice. I don't really know why I didn't make it but when I realized I ****ed up it was too big of a shame for me to just come by and explain myself. Then, last weekend, I thought I missed Red Flag 5 so it just made me more ashamed. After reading the report from Flankerator and some days passed, I finally found the balls to come here. I'm really sorry for not showing up but at the moment I'm struggling with some health issues that keep me from flying. I also wanted to thank Flankerator and the guys from 104th for all the effort and time you put into such events and you deserve many many Kudos for what you are doing. Another big salute goes to the badass pilots from the 51st who kinda paved the way to the victory of the RED coalition, although the final battle was as close as it can get. Congratulations to Sweeper for MVP, you got mad skills and this time probably also the biggest chunk of luck. There is also one thing I wanted to ask: Why did I get an honorable mention for the overall event? I killed 2 guys without dying, but only in the first battle and didn't participate in the final (being AWOL). Albeit this was only my second event and I kind of want to set a foot print within the community, I think there were other pilots that did better than me. Anyways, sorry again for not showing up for the finals and thank you for flying with me, no matter what side you were on. Salute! -
GUIDE: The advanced barrel roll or how to outmaneuver 27ERs
Jester Darrak replied to Croncat's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Trying to be Vulcan here: FLOOD: Narrow beam with contineous wave radar energy. Everything in the cone reflects some energy with highest RCS return being chased by the Sparrow. STT: Concentrated beam, even more narrow than in FLOOD, aided by gymbals, gyros and other fancy INS voodoo stuff. But, and here comes the kicker, since the radar has to cover only a small area it should be able to shift PRF within split seconds unnoticed by the operator. Wild guess: since the range is very close in a rear aspect shot, let's say 6NM, the radar should only be using a fracture of it's emmissions to actually track (here: not losing the target, constant update on BRAA) and the majority to just paint the target (here: contineous, highly concentrated waves). That makes STT some kind of "smart FLOOD". The problem with tracking should only be an issue with the missile itself as it is just homing in on the returning waves. In FLOOD it takes the greatest RCS, same in STT just with the difference that there can only be one return in STT but multiple in FLOOD. F-15C's tracking computers (anyone say EVE online?) should be very well capable of keeping track of the target at ranges within 10NM because of the small distance the waves have to travel, even with the target maneuvering. Then again I am completely surprised with the radar in MEM mode being able to re-aquire a target that went behind a hill for about 2 or 3 seconds. And with extreme lead AFM missiles are tracking the shot reconnects without a problem thus killing the target. -
I also vote for more variety in weather/time conditions. Sure, some people will face some tough challenges, but it does not have to be everything at once. Two missions zero dark, one or two with cloud cover, and maybe another one with heavy winds and weather. If life was easy it would be boring!

JOINT WARRIOR ROUND 5 - TACTICAL PVP BATTLE
Jester Darrak replied to FLANKERATOR's topic in Tournaments & Events
Yeah, Snipewinders hit at up to 9.5 NM range head on. Kudos for that move. -
Can you give a little more detail on the fuel loads? That sounds like we are flying only with like 1,000 lbs of fuel.
-
Is it possible to add markers as to where to find that specific unit? Sometimes it's just a pita to find the unit you are able to control and you're stuck on F-10 map.
