Hi, I have the same issue here and the updater tells me that i patched to the 1.2.8 version, but the game is still running at 1.2.7. In addition, no files were installed, and yesterday i had to quit the update, cause I had to leave my home for a few hours. 2nd question: My wingman made the update and now his complete DCS crashes as soon he want to fly in a plane and he has to restart his computer. I hope to read a solution to it soon. thx

F-15E Compressor Stall - Pilot Reaction

hi there. it is both, reaction of the pilot and the build in savety systems of this f15e. I have seen the exact same situation at RAF lakenheath in 2006. Left engine had a compressorstall, exactly the same way your link shows. In that incidence I witnesed, the pilot pulled back the throttel and the build in savety system had shut down the whole aircraft instantly. unfortunatly, the plane still had a slight jaw to the left and the day before it rained alot, so it rolled of the runway half way down and the nosegear sank into the soft ground. the airfiled was closed untill the late afternoon. this all happened at about 0930h and at that time from 0900h 21 planes were allready airborne and had to land at RAF mildenhall later, after they compleated thier training missions over the northsea. a friend of mine, a pilot of the 493rd was sceduled a trainingmission over noon, which was canceled off, so we had some nice time to hang out at the casino, cause he had not much left to do for a few hours and i can even remeber one f15c that day, one of the 21 that were allready airborne, had a compressor stall in the air and returned early that day to mildenhall. the chatting via ops com was interesting and turbulent that day.-

Well this is no escalation by the guys who point out things that are wrong in respect on knowledge of systems and how they work. I think it is a good move of alpha_2014 to point out problems in this arcade/sim. I just remeber many years ago, how people complained about other players blink with thier eccm and how ED approached that topic in regards of balancing the whole game again, by including a warmup of 16 sec for the eccm to be radiating. I still smile sometimes I push the eccm to active mpde, cause in reality it is not workng that way at all. Just to give GG a little input on eccm, so he does not argue with false infos again, the system is warmed up on last chance most of the times during last weapon and system checks by ground and pilot personals, cause yes, the little rod inside needs some warum, which is longer then 16 sec in real life, so the whole eccm system is active during flight in a mode that is similar like the sniff mode of a radar, and can be changed instantly from sniff to active. This is even a system used in an old lady, that was retiered by the german airforce a few month ago. Alpha_2014, i stoped arguing with the guys from ED since a long time cause, when you come up with stuff they should know but do not produce it, do to balancing reasons, then they most of the time argue about infos abd data and all that bla bla, which they should have if they have such good contacts to thier partners. Just think about dcs as arcade/sim , not a study sim, then it matches what it is ;) -

hi guys. this topic was interesting, but to be honest, FC3 and DCS will not get anywhere near a simulation, what we acspect it to be, when we reach topics like BVR or a2a, cause they, ED is lacking the informations or the permission to use all the informations they might have, do to some NDA. Why I say, that DCS will never ever get close to a real a2a inviroment, is just one little thing of sooooooo many, i have seen in this game, that are not even close to reality. did Ed even know that the aim120 family has a security program running in the background when launched? if they knew it, they would be able to include it in the so called DCS simulation, but there is no intention to do so. I will not go into the discussion deeper, cause i got informations that are NDA infos, from pilots that do know all aspects of thier fighters, even 2 are testpilots for a european company and part of the nato. so well, it was a nice amusement to see gg tharos fighting against arguments and a solid topic, like he allways does, so please ED, get somebody into the game who really knows the facts and does not allways tells the comunity, he is the fgreatest and knows all, but in basic, all he does is insultiong people and not talking productivly about topics. all GG does is, hang out the balls and tells all uf us, who might even have better insight then he does as moderator, that we are dump little wannabees and he is god, which he is not. ahh fot gg tharos, by the way, this is nothing against yourself in person, cause i do not know you, but it is critisims about your postings, cause your postings tell me something diffrent, then you beeing a nice person, but thats the way you represent yourself, so it is your bussiness, not mine. keep on going that way mate, your behavior might scare off the people who are really in that bussiness, cause at least 7 guys, including 2 pilots, where allready scared of by you, and one of them has fired aim120c for real in training, so hell yeah, ED got all the infos and does not need help to make it a better sim. so please keep on going producing stuff that is still arcade, although you call it digital combat simulation. did you know that the r27 family flys loft parameters for long range??? why was it deleted in fc3, cause in fc2 it was there and the range was still shit, but it was capable of compeating with the aim120c, which it would in real life do, but well, here we come back to balancing again, cause it is no simulation it is still a game. sorry to say that, but thats how it is! but well i am not going into this deep again, cause i crashed and burned before, cause gg took out the super laserbeam of convincing argumentation from his side and just vaporised me when i talked about the russian missiles in a diffrent topic, where i even compared the fc2 data of the missiles, yes it has been long long times ago, but nothing has changed, ahh wait, it got worse for the 27er (maybe also the 27et in some aspects, but on the other hand it improved on two topics alot) in fc3, and real data and showed, as far i could without breaking any NDAs, what other testers probaly have never done, so if there is a tester signed in the forum, it does not tell you what he is testing in this sim, upps sorry, arcade/sim. It would be cool to know if ED has testers for specific areas of the sim, like missiles, radars, maybe each aspect singled out or not, or do testers do whatever they want and tell ED, ahh, in the game there is that little bug i saw or this? how is the testerteam setup ??? thats one question i really would like to know if it is not breaking any NDA, cause that would give insight to ED, which is maybe not in the interest of IGOR, who knows. thanks for reading, and for the amusement i had reading this article. thumps up and allways a save ejection on compressorstall -
Hi community, I am working on a non DCS porject at the moment and have to deal with blendshapes and morphtargets in my rigg, so I asked myself if the EDM format will convert such also into the DCS engine as working part of a rigg. I can imagine that the EDM is more likely to accept blendshapes cause they do not need a seperate slider and are bound to a bone deformation. Has anybody made any experiance with blendshapes and the EDM export, or has anybody of the ED devteam any informations concearning blendshapes or morphtargets in combination with the EDM tool? sincearly borchi_2b

i know, thats why i decided to keep working on the spirit for now. the list you provide is a very very long one and just to talk about the model amount that is needed, there is alot of work. there is no problem to make awesome models of the birds they request. it is just a matter of time and money ;-) right now i believe that it could be possible to make a flyable b2 close to the real thing. but how i mentioned, i do have no clue about LUA coding. anybody who is willing to jump in on a project is welcome and should pm me, maybe? -

corrected some shape areas. added pilots working on the belly side. cuts for the flaps are done a little shape correction is needed on the cockpitarea. next steps after the belly is done, are cuts for the doors, the cockpit, the glas etc etc. basic plan is there. i am not sure if it would be possbile to make a flyable of the bird. i basic i thought of using the stealth data of the f117 ingame??? i am not into lua programming. maybe there are people out there how want to jump into the project. i basic everything needed for the bird should be there, cause the dcs a10c provides nearly all aspects of the military birds. for sure this bird will not be reproducable to 100% to much is classified, but this bird would be producable close to the real thing by good assumtions. cheers -

I have one little question about polycounts in dcs. Is there anybody who can give a detailed description of the max polycounts for airplanes or any certain structures? What is the highest polycount used for existing planes in dcs, for example the dcs a10c or any other high detail planes. Which plane has the highest polycount in dcs, and how much is it? I would be happy to get an answer to this. Thanks in advance -

hi fellows. has been a long long time since i posted something here. first i have to appologise for the fact, that i decided not to finish the albino project. this is directed to the people who still remember or even were part of the project. i can only say, thanks for all the support and all the love the people shared and explain my decision with the fact, that the eagle was produced by 2 diffrent people and the other party was faster with its release. as for the matter of time, my knowledge improved alot in 3d max and all the things that are part of that bussiness cause there is way more then making nice models. so my workflows changed alot and i can announce that this summer i will have my certificate as official 3d artist and registered member in the autodesk community. but now lets talk about the fun stuff. how announced in the threat topic, i do have 2 planes in my pipeline. do to the fact that becoming a 3d artist takes alot of time, the spirit is in my pipeline for maybe 3 month now but i only worked on it a few hours. the vipers were an idea that came up to me 2 days ago, cause i am off work right now and have some spear time. i have read the planes in production page and saw that the vipers are allready in work. but what i have seen is, that the B2 is still free to be worked on ;-) i know that this beauty would not be a flyable, unfortunatly, but it is nice to have in the sim i guess. about the vipers??? i do not know where this goes and if there is even a need to have them done??? maybe. if there are other ideas, i am open to anything. only thing needed are good blueprints, which is sometimes a hard task, just to mention that there are no blueprints of the viper b/d in the net. in addition i can say, nothing is a must be, but can be ;-) here are 2 pictures of the current work. and here is something that has nothing to do with planes, just as goody cheers ps: the images are in low res, cause they are only jpegs. sorry for that, but high res will follow when further work is done. estimated time used for the b2 right now = 4hours estimated time used for the vipers = 5 hours the c viper was not touched by me alot, i am focused on the b version right now all picture rights reserve to me :thumbup:

like i am, so your video helps alot. maybe you can make a short description of the destruction model as video too :-) your video is very descriptive, cause you see where to go and edit things in a fast and easy way :-) i like it alot feel free to explain anything, i think it will help people, like me, who know how to handle max, but who do not know all the time how to make things for this sim

@ mav: when you quote something, then not just quote a little piece of the written, just to make that person a fool, please quote all that has to do with that topic, and keep it constructiv. i myself do that too and do not need to attack in an childish manner, cause i shot all my arguments against somebody and have nothing left. so this is what you should actually have quoted here you see, that i do not care about kicking somebodies six, not even when he is a real fighterpilot, cause it is not important for me. for you as decription of the quoted, so that you maybe get the point of it, in case you missed it. the point of it says, alot of people might be good in the VSkies, but it is not comparable with RL, and that this is something that does not need to mentioned at all, my opinion, cause for me, it is just belony and nobody cares about your experiances with IPs, cause there are some other poeple out there, who make similar experiances and that this is nothing special anymore, if it ever was, cause real pilots have been around in virual skies since ther are virtual skies, and guess what, there are more RLpilots in the falcon community, as far i know of some german pilots. so mav, just keep it grownup and stiop childish behavior, it makes your statements more believable, even in the future. thanks for that in advance. cheers

true at some point but i cannot imagine the RuAF has not upgraded the r27er in all these years. i am pretty sure they did!!! otherwise there would be no reason for them to stick to it as main weapon for the su27 family

thats what i understood here from your decriptions. so what comes to my mind now is, when you fire a SARH missle with a datalink and you get a good picture on radar and good data, the SARH does not really need the reflections from the target until a few sec before impact right, cause the datalink will stear the r27er in a proper way. so acctuyll even the last few sec are not needed, actually the SARH missle could be guided into the target only by datalink, cause do to the fact that it is an SARH, it needs the reflections or datalink updates constantly, so it would make sence to me if a bandit shot by an SARH missle from a su27 would never ever get an indication at all, cause it is not needed, do to the fact that there is datalink informations. same would also aplly to any mordern ARH missle, but why ARH was designed, the mainreason is, that the pilots do not have to fly into the NEZ of the enemy and can turn away before they are shot. thats the actual idea of the ARH, but without thier own radar, they could be steared into the target just by the datalink. what i do not know though is, if the modern radars from the 90ties were capable to provide such percise data of the target, that this tiny sopt could be hit by a fast moving little peace of metal. but about the datalink, well now i can explain my thought a bit more precise. lets go through this step by step, also easier for me :-) first fact: we have an SARH missle which needs target information for terminal impact situation and is not automated by istelf, so there is no danger of hitting the wrong target, cause i have full control of the missle itself and the target decision. 2nd fact: when there is a datalink to the missle, why then are the reflections needed for the whole flight? only needed for the terminal phase, cause radar can direct the missle all the way near enough and needs to be pointed at the target for the terminal phase anyways, cause we use SARH 3rd fact: when we talk about the datalink and it needs to be fired a 2nd missle, the computer needs a little time to set all data into the flight comp of the missle, thats the reason why the missles need to be pickeled longer then in most of the sims. i think in reality it is something around 3 sec, as far i can remember the f4 pilot i talked to, who transitions to the eurofighter now. so do to this timeissue i can imagine, that datalink is still linked to the missle last shot, which would make sence to me and is broken when the 2nd missle is fired, so then i would need the SARH functionality of the system, cause the first missle still needs soem guidence, but the 2nd can still fly on datalink. right? makes sence, or doesn´t it? so for my understanding the datalink would be provided till 2nd missle launch, makes alot of sence to me and it does not matter if a target is locked, the datalink should still be there all the time, cause i have full control of the missles, cause they are not autonomic like the ARH. 4th fact: the missles cannot be guided anywhere, but inside some territory of the radar azimuth cause datalink could be send through radar towards the missle, so anthing in the azimuth and infront of the plane and the missles could be steared too. i cannot expect the mssile make a 180, although they might be capable of that. to make it very simple, datalink update actually works like RC planes. they get course informations from some radiosource, in basic. 5th fact: when the r27er have datalink, then they should be capable in modern days, like the 90ties, to give back thier own possition to the datalink system like the amraams allready do and many other missles. so there can be computed a time to impact. 6th fact: lets set up the situation of a single SARH shot with datalink. actually how i allready said, the aim120 is nothing else then a SARH on datalink untill it goes pitbull, cause it needs target information to be guided, right? so why should it not be possible to just use the target refelction on the terminal phase of the flight, cause the other flight could be steared like an ARH missle via datalink, so the enemy would get the indication only on the terminal phase, a few sec before impact, like in lomac a HOJ shot with an ARH, same principels. 7th: when i have datalink to my SARH i should be able to turn out compleatly and come back hot and still use my first shot missle before i turned out, do to the fact, that i have datalink and can give informations to the missile. just becuse i turn i do not need to use datalink unless it is maintained through the radar, then i have to stay in my target. if it is not maintained through my radar, then i can tunr and burn all the time, cause i am linked to my baby. do to the fact that i am linked i have information of the distance actually between missle and my own plane. so when i know the badit is still further away, a good pliot can compute it in his brain, then i can back hot again and lock him and have my terminal phase of my missle attack. all these thought they i came up with are thought of a civilian, and i can imagine that the russian military brains got these thoguth too, cause they now even more then i know about fighting in a a2a role and thier requires. and the have the brainpower and money to develop such things. these are reason for me, as outsider, thoguth that explain why the russian stayed with the SARH for thier main frontline fighter, instead of switching to the ARH, which give away thier positon anyways at some point, so they warn the opponentand make him react. further the russians developed the r27pe, the spassiva, which is homing on the radar beams which functions acctually like a air to sam missle, or HARM and is fire and forget for that reason. there must be some reason why the developed this way, nt just for killing awacs, although the missles are made for that. so you see this is a very tricky content and many things could be discovered just by some brainstorming and focus on a task. acctually i belive that if the r27er have datalink in real life, what they are supposed to have, that a silent kill on an enemy would be possible, just by flying over the posted facts. hope you guys understand what i mean, not sure if all my thoughts are clearly understandable

hey ironmike, i posted about inviting international squads for out birthday event, but i am not in charge of the event or a member of the hq. the basic answer was, no we do not want that, but i do not really understand that, cause i alos pointed out, that we should invite the 51st too, cause we flew a couple of times against them in squadwars. well i talk to my ingman if he want to set up such campaign again, like we did before but for more then ust our squad internal. if so, i will invite specific squads for the event, but when we make such event, for sure there will be more flights, just have to think about the timing and how many flights we want to make in which timeperiod etc etc. it is a ton of workload, and yes i am a bit sad about the fact, that they do not want other squad from other countries right now, cuase the german community has only a few active squads left, which there are, 33rd, 31st, vjg71, vjs161, and the jabog 32nd. that are squads i knowof, which fly online, but most of them chrinked in sise, like we did too. it sometime seem that the golden days are over, but who knows. i really would love to make a big event with more then just one day, more something that bulits up in some way, judged by the system of my wingamn and me developed, but who knows. i just talked to my wingman and he wants to wit for fc3, cause this would give us more possibilities, his answer to my idea, so well it looks like that there will come up something with fc3, which maybe will be mindblowing :-) @mav: well whatever man. if you think i only use wiki, thats none of my serious resource, but the once available for puplic ;-) and for you beeing a hero, shooting down reallife IPs, well, good for you, but we have a real f4 pilot who will transition to the eurofighter, or maybe allready did, in our squad, and guess what, in bfm, i was able to kick his butt gunzo 8:3, in bfm gunz and IR we were equal, and in bvr, he learned something from me and i learned something from him, so this is how it should be. to learn from each other, not just say, ohh i am an ace who even shots down real IP in virtual skies. never forget, in RL they have also g forces, which we will not sustian that well like they do, so we would probably kill ourselfs faster then they could say "tally ho bandit1" lets keep this constructive and for ironmike, i see that with the tactics, what you mentioned, thats why i did not say to much about it :-) but when you are overrun, then you should have an open gap when all thier planes are rtb. i could see that overrun at the first engagement, it was huge, but well with this force, the red side should have managed better, in my oppinion, but well for the missile spamming, both sides did that, not only blue, thats for sure :-), only diffrence is 70 missiles, which is at a near total of 800 missiles shot in an event, less then 10%, which shows me, that both sides spammed :-) so this is not just pointed to the blue side.

well BMS is a diffent sim and we do not know how close to reality this sim is. i do not want to attack that sim, but we just do not know where these guys got thier informations from, o maybe it would be nice to have some input from the misslie companies, so things could be corrected in the right way

well the r27er is no heater :-) but the m-link, well it should make it possible to switch targets, my 2 cent, because, actually, the missle will only get new datainput of a new cours correction when i lock a diffrent target for example and as far we talk about SARH it uses the reflected radar beams just for a precise course data comparison, cause a SARH shot with datalink could just fly straight, when i lock nochting, which they do, but when i shot at a target, they get course data constantly, which i can break up too and relock again, which works in lomac, but when the target moves to far outside although i have a constant radar picture, the missle will not correct its course. which i would understand when there is for example no radar working at all for some time, but when i have data, or an radar activated, the missle should still wait for informations from its datalink. but right now it is very late here an di should discuss this maybe over the weekend, cause it is hard for me to express my thoughts in a good constructed way right now.

ok, so did you get that info about the su27 and the mig29 from the companies? or is it just an assumtion, cause i heared diffent things, even from a pilot about the tws lock capability. would be interesing to know ok, when the r27er have datalink in the game, then to be honest, the relockability of the r27er in the game needs to be improved alot, cause the relock, well it is really bad, and a datalink would stear the missle right, even when you switch a target, but it does not at all. i will make some testing on that relock and show what i mean, cause datalink is not dependend on the reflection to stear a missle. datalink stears to midflightupdates which does not happen in fc2 as far i can tell.

that correct, a non moving target,but as far we talk about tactics, we all know to survive a combat scenario you have to move, point one. 2nd is, flexabilty, which is the key to airpower. about the missle information, i would have to get back to the guy in our squad, and talk to him about it again, to make a comment to that stated above. there are so many things that can happen and a missle that is shot in a range outside the pitbull range is most likely to miss, thats what i know from some source. and yes you are right that cheapshot scenarios are trained, but still this is all simulated and in a real shoot out with pilots on both sides feared of dying, such scenario of cheap shot, well it is valid, but the main tactic will be something diffrent, cause it is allready stated in the wiki.com page about the aim120: and this is a very real scenario and nothing that is made up, although wiki is not a realyable source at many points, but the picture given, that a fact. so cheapshots, well, i guess when you end up in such a situation, way to much went wrong in the fight, or the opponents had superior tactics, and it will be at a high possibility that you get killed after your cheap shot. i think most of the times, and thats hard to meassure, we feel that fc2 resembales reality, which it does not, so thats why i am keen to know what ED comes up with as a fighter :-), to see how verything works out as a sim :-) ahh and by the way, a non moving target would be c17, an50 or bombers, in modern days. just think about the fact that tactics means moving, notching, and so on and so on, so a valid cheapshot, hmm, i think thats some belony which the generals would like to be effective, but i also think that they know, that the effectivnes of such a shot is very very limited. so cheapshot are more a dream to me :-), like it would be a dream to have a missle that is some what smart and can make own decisions, like switching between PARH, ARH and IR lock, just decided on the tactic which would employ best, but this is just a dream i think, cause i do not know how this should be managed by some computer, there needs to be human to determin what is best at which situation, and so on. still thanks for listening edit: for the effectivnes of the missiles in lomac, well maybe something about the opponents ablitiy to shoot missiles after a hit, thats something the defs could think about, cause alot of systems are destroyed after a hit even when the plane is still able to fyl, it will not be able to fight in any means anymore, cause even when a radar would work and the weapon cpu would work to, no pilot knows if a missile shot would be save anymore, it might rip the plane appart or even start the fuelleak on fire :-)
