I don't see why anyone would go to the trouble to fake historical documents about OOBs and such . . . I have to agree with Friedrich here. posted from mobile, excuse stupid errors please!

While there's not much variety I love the RAF camo. Using your own markings is fun too, hope we don't get stupid 01-0 or whatever, half the time we fly one! ED should make it so you can pick your own skin and letters in multiplayer. posted from mobile, excuse stupid errors please!

I'm enjoying following this thread. I agree that the K4 and the Dora were both in use in late 1944, (I won't say common, but they were there) but since the map we're getting is Normandy, these numbers are irrelevant, as are those for the Tempest and perhaps the XIV. The IX is the only real aircraft that fits the Normandy map, perhaps the P51D as well. Point is there were no K4s in Normandy. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Bumping, hoping for news. Summer release maybe?

Naval aircraft modules would be fantastic

We're getting all these American planes, what about the A6M? -
I see. I guess at the moment we don't really have a problem as the Mustang, 109, and 190 all have flaps that extend rather slowly so it's easy to adjust. As far as I know the Spitfire's flaps extend rather quickly so the adjustment would have to be abrupt? Is this why you are bringing up this topic? For what it's worth, I have a non FFB stick and I have not had problems with lowering flaps in the Spitfire in CloD. You get used to the effect rather quickly. It is a whole different sim though so of course there could be differences. Flare

So, if this is implemented, non ffb users would have to either hold the stick forward or back to keep the stick centred? Could we fix this by adding required elevator trim?

Decreasing Y saturation to lower values than 100
flare2000x replied to otto's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I'm sorry, in all other sims curves can be adjusted. Personally I used to have an imprecise short stick so I needed about 30 y saturation. Now I have a better stick so I need 10-15. -
What are the chances we will see a B-17 DLC some day?
flare2000x replied to oscar19681's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
Ahem . . . the Halifax is a beauty. So is the Mosquito. And what about the He 111? I must say, the B-24 and B-25 are ugly . . . I even don't like the 17 that much . . . Please don't hurt me - it's all opinions! -
I cant wait to fly it personally, even if the opponents are superior.

Prop governor is too easy to broke, I think.
flare2000x replied to gomwolf's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Absolutely. Right now it seems the only way to kill someone is to set them afire or rip a wing off. Coolant leaks would offer so much more gameplay. I know from other sims that when you get someone "venting" it's a good indicator that they should be running for home or else they'll ruin their engine and then crash. As of now in DCS if you get someone leaking they'll still be able to fly for ages without actually losing coolant/fuel/oil. -

Agreed. While the visual part needs an upgrade, I'd like to see proper fires and fuel/coolant leaks. These piston engine props were a plumbers nightmare, we should be seeing coolant leaks a lot. -
Sorry if I wasn't clear, that's what I meant. 120 per gun.
-
120 rounds should be enough for most combat. I don't think I've heard anything from spitfire pilots books about 120 being not enough. It should be about 10 seconds of fire. Add the additional 5-7 seconds of .303 fire, which is great for popping coolant leaks and starting fires, and the Spitfire's armament should be more than enough. I don't see why you call the .303s "next to useless".

Whoa!!!! AWESOME! Are those flak bursts on the sunset pic? Amazing! Can't wait!

1. It's always good to have both sights on, the computing one and the static one which gives you a circle, a few lines, and a boresight crosshair. Press "1" to cycle through them. 2. Make sure you have the wingspan set for the computing sight (dial on top of the gunsight box) I think the wingspan of both German fighters is around 30 feet. 3. Use the range dial (twist throttle) to make the computing sight the same size and the enemies wingspan. You then have to track the enemy for a second or so to make sure the sight is stable. If the sight isn't stable it means you probably aren't in a stable pursuit curve and you'll most likely miss. Personally, I actually use the fixed sight mostly, since it's what I'm used to. I tend to get more consistent and natural results with the fixed sight as I'm not focused on the little moving sight. S!, hope that helps! Flare

Hard to compare now since the video has been removed . . .

Hmm, I wasn't really thinking of that. I don't have 3ds max though. Turning this into a DCS mod isn't my top priority, I just wanted to make a cool model!

Looks and sounds amazing - I guess this means it's not too far off now if the FM is almost complete?

This airfield idea is great. On our CloD server we have a mission where the RAF has auxillary airfields in farmers fields. All it needed was some spawn points and some buildings. I don't see why we couldn't do this in DCS. It seems like an amazing potential for missions in this theatre. S! Flare

When you say just Normandy, what does that mean? Cherbourg to Caen? It better go further east. And how far south will it go?
-
Whenever I see a screenshot it seems the wings have changed . . . does anyone know what it will be in the end? Or will we be able to change between them in the mission editor?
-
Whoa, that looks great!

So, I started 3d modelling a little while ago. I'm not great, but here's a Draken I've been working on! http://imgur.com/a/SYcQ9
