  1. Please see my signature for a link to my A10c thread. The standard A10c missions are sufficient to train you. The training campaign that was released will test you and may test you beyond what you might find fun. It is another tool that is designed to help. There are plenty of youtube videos showing people doing it. So that was the choice for me. I watched and saw that I was not going to need that campaign.
  2. Just to add more clear help in case someone else has a problem and is searching. 1) Always add a 0 to the front of your East L/L Coords 2) When using MGRS and you get a string of numbers with GG or LM or whatever in front. You must type the letters first and enter. Then do the numbers separate or you'll get errors too.
  3. Voice attack is amazing software. I've been using it for a long time as well. It is perfect. You can make any word do any computer command. It is less than $10 or was when I bought it direct from them. You can do windows voice training to make it understand you better. Do that once or twice and you have an awesome program. I just got done with an A10c run on the server. It was amazing I finally took out ground obj AMB for the blue team all on my own. It was a heck of a time finding the last two tanks in the middle of the city. Also scored an air to air kill with an aim 9. I love this server and I wish there was either another server or a higher player cap. A lot of commands but not many that you need depending on the circumstances. I use voice attack and while it would be capable of opening up chat and typing a command I can just type it rather easily. Also it can do the radio menus but you'd have to either say F 1 and program that to F1 or make numerous F key commands with all the different words. Personally I only do this for JTAC.
  4. Thank you. I hope to see you there! I try to hang out on their teamspeak server when I'm online.
  5. Awesome! Don't get discouraged. Debrief each mission you do. Learn from it and learn how to be better next time. Take breaks and walk around. I'm always happy to help put where I can. I love making videos but there are so many others who have the patience to create quality products. So give them a try. Hope to see you there. Fakum - If you take really good notes and keep them handy it is real easy to relearn. I forgot how to make steerpoint my spi and Google didn't help me. Haha Tms down for anyone wondering. You get to pick it up real quick when you come back. Finding people to fly with is what makes you keep wanting more.
  6. Thank you. I've updated it to be more helpful when I'm away. No reason to miss out on the fun. It's never too hard. Always try.
  7. I've been playing the server all weekend. Right now I'm looking for it and I can't see it. I've even have the server set as a favorite. Yet it is refusing to show in the server list now. People in teamspeak say the server is up right now. I'm not the only one experiencing this at this moment. Some guy left the server to help me find IP and now he can't see it either.
  8. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68802 The best training missions I found for testing what I learned. JTAC mission is spot on. If you do this you'll know if you're doing things right.
  9. bump - currently open to training people.
  10. I've scrolled back pages and pages. Do we only need to download the last link that is listed for 2.4 or do we have to grab all the links starting with the first release? Perhaps some editing of the original post can help clear some up.
  11. DCS World\Mods\terrains\CaucasusBase\vfstextures No one wants to read but several people have posted this. I just got the desert textures working. Can someone please take a screenshot or give an exact location where to pick fall in the mission editor. I can not for the life of me remember and I use to design missions. Been a helluva day too so maybe I'm just too tired. I see where you can change time/date but I thought there was a specific spot to choose season.
  12. Flying the A10c is not as difficult as it looks. I put it off for so long because I thought it would be too difficult to learn and I had no one to teach me. One day I decided to put on my big boy pants and learn the entire beast alone. I want to help you kick start in that same direction. The first hurdle of learning to fly the A10c is to set up your HOTAS. There is a HOTAS made by thrustmaster that is identical to the real A10c controls. If you own these controls the only hurdle is memorizing the controls and button names. If you do not own these and you own something else like CH products you will have to manually create the TMS, CMS, DMS controls and more onto your more limited HOTAS. Limited by the number of buttons and switches. This is not that big of an issue and you can overcome it like I did. You start with training mission number one and map the controls needed for it. Then you do the next mission and the next. By the time you finish you will have mapped all necessary A10c controls to something. Make sure you note what you mapped it to and what buttons do what. That way you can remember now and for later when you have taken a nice break from flying. After you have jumped that hurdle do the training missions again. This time pay attention and take detailed notes on all the systems and how they work. Make a separate page in a notebook for each system and weapon. Get as detailed as you can because you can always short hand something later. Once you have completed all of those training missions go ahead and try DRAGONS mission pack. He offers several missions that will let you choose targets based on your skill level and you can change your weapon loadout in the editor if need be. He also offers a JTAC training mission. After you feel comfortable with the weapon systems do the DRAGON JTAC training mission. This will teach you radio operation and interaction with JTAC with is necessary in most A10c missions. Also you will learn why a JTAC is so valuable and when you don’t have one it can suck to find targets. Once you feel comfortable with JTAC go and try out the mission surrounded in the A10c mission section. This is default with the DCS game. Use TACVIEW to do an after action report and see how awesome you did. I would learn how bad I was at spotting targets and how much time I wasted. I would see how I didn’t make wide enough turns to give myself time and find out exactly who shot what and when. The mission surrounded is a group of friendly forces being attacked from different directions. JTAC will give you pin point information and then general radio calls will tell you direction from friendlies. You can practice using JTAC and/or just visually acquiring them with TGP and looking out of the cockpit. If you can successfully do this mission until you run out of ordinance without dying or getting shot up you have come a long way since square one. You should be proud of yourself and your effort. I would go to the Through the Inferno server and test your skills there. It is great COOP experience for all aircraft types that I've had the pleasure of helping design missions for. I suggest the following youtubers for refence videos: Sc Avenger Rafildude RL will keep my availability guessing but I will be happy to train you after you have configured your controls, done the training missions, and can fly the aircraft. I want to be able to jump in next to you and fly with some basic knowledge. I want to be able to call out TMS, CMS, DMS controls and you to know that they are programmed on your HOTAS. These basic things are necessary. I can’t tell you where your controls are because most likely we don’t have the same setup. 13. I have owned games for a very long time. Especially games that require serial numbers and other items to be tracked. The bonus to steam is that you no longer have to track all of these and steam can detect errors in your install with a click of a button. Mess up a mod? Didn't use JSGME? Delete the corrupted folder and verify integrity via steam. It will download only the necessary files. With one button click you eliminate install issues from the series of things to check when something goes wrong. I would never NOT use steam for games unless it was absolutely necessary. Which a few of my games are that way. Rfactor 2, a racing sim, just went steam. Best thing that ever happened. All updates, all items, updated and tracked by steam instead of the user. Why do more work than necessary?
  14. If you have it on steam, and it is very recommended to do so, then verify integrity of game cache. If not then you will have to do more research as to why this happens.
  15. TANK issue: So the easy work around is don't shoot tanks is cannon as a rule until fixed. Light armor and below get wrecked by the gun still.
  16. I didn't watch the full video but he goes super in depth with it. CBUs, use CCRP mode for easy deployment. Worst thing to worry about is wind. If you do a proper CCRP mode and the wind is not an issue..it will hit. You can use LASTE wind profiles if you want to drop it with high winds. While i know how to use LASTE, i usually don't have to. If the wind isn't too bad I can drop accurately. If it is decent I can adjust by manually selecting up wind of the target on TGP first. Just keep practicing. You may not know why you messed up at first. You might find out later. You'll learn to do it the right way. Can be as easy as forgetting one step.
  17. I'm not saying this is impossible as we are talking about a simulation with bugs. I've never experienced such an issue and would have to be able replicate the same error to believe that is was not user error. I've never had SPI move to something else unless I pushed a button to cycle it to something else. There are HOTAS controls to change it from TGP to steerpoint or whatnot on the fly.
  18. I've started flying the A10c about two weeks ago. Learned it inside and out. I've had times where I can take a lot of hard hits and still be functional. Other times not so much. I don't feel the plane is too weak. Tanks - Have an insanely hard time getting guns kill on them. Seems like it takes a TON of ammo even with direct hits. I use tac view to verify. CBUs work just fine though. I make kills all the time. Just make sure they hit the target and are the variant for vehicles. LASTE wind stuff and all that jazz. Mavericks are easy. Slave all to SPI, TMS up short until it locks. May have to hit it several times. I can make max distance shots so easy. Then of course you have force correlate for the long shots. Mavericks are still deadly. Maybe it is just the feel of being away from the cockpit for a while. Take it up a few more times and go through some stuff. I'm willing to go up in the air with you on a mission and see. Everything is fine to me.
  19. Does the server have its own teamspeak? Digital Theme Park ts3.digitalthemepark.com Just in case you don't. I found it by random and they were more than happy to have me us their teamspeak. They also will create your own group channels there for you. Been good so far.
  20. Just got done on the server. Took an f15c up on Red. Assisted in the shoot down of an A10a. Took out an AI tornado and then another player in a F15c. First air to air kills against real players in DCS.
  21. I appreciate the quick response. In the heat of the moment I might have missed something. If you can't shoot friendlies then perhaps they were a friendly aircraft. I just remember going guns on the grey a10c. Point blank and watching my rounds go right through him. I didn't see him on the map. Maybe I missed it. I enjoy the server a lot.
  22. It sounds like you need more practice with mavericks. A maverick can also take out a bridge. Something that a lot of new pilots don't realize is that once you slew your maverick over to a target.... Ex: 1) Find target in TGP and make it SPI 2) Take maverick and china hat forward long to slave to SPI 3) TMS up short to lock the target. (DONT SLEW) You may have to hit TMS up short a few times to get the crosshairs to lock after a slave to SPI That trick will help you lock targets so much easier. A mission with a wingman... use the wingman. You can't kill everything on your own. If you want to do some of my training missions and get some instruction... just let me know. See my signature for details.
  23. If you can learn the A10c you can learn any other aircraft in DCS with ease. I suggest the A10c and I will train people who can fly the aircraft and been over the training modules at least once. I have some good missions to train with. See my signature for details. If interested. PM me. I also play on some online servers. You can always tag along if you want. A10c will have the most missions/campaigns and fun in DCS world. It has been around forever. I spent 4-6 hours a day for 1.5 weeks. I flew and watched youtube videos. I took notes on all training missions within DCS and any unanswered questions were followed up with google and youtube. I have pages of notes for procedures with the A10c. After flying solid for about 2.5 weeks now and training another guy. I'm deadly with this machine. Take notes...best way to reference when you forget.
  24. I'm pretty sure you're worried about Tunguska's and not Shilkas. One has missiles and one doesn't. Either way you should be able to take them out with ease. Have you learned about force correlate mode on mavericks? Allowing you to fire from LONG ranges. More than normal?
  25. Played on this server a couple times as an A10c and took out some targets. Then I jumped into the F15c on red side. Went for a couple of Tornado's flying around. I noticed an A10c real close to me. I tried to lock him up but it would not let me. So I go behind him with guns and he started to freak out. Put a few bursts at him and he didn't even get damaged. I guess I was in some sort of safe zone? Can someone even kill another player outside of the appropriate areas? It was difficult for me to understand as a first time player to that server.
