  1. Aargh - so I finally got a chance to try nevada after the new patch and while the weird light effect is gone, now all the buildings are gone too! There is not a single building, car, or lamp post. Nothing at all. Caucasus and Normandy are working fine with everything visible. Any ideas???
  2. Thanks for the quick reply! That's quite a bit longer than I was expecting. Probably explains why I didn't notice a significant effect.
  3. This may seem like a dumb question but I can't find the answer anywhere. How do I know if the radiators are fully open? How long do I have to hold the switches in the open position? Thanks
  4. This post definitely needs to be stickied! I'm finding it an excellent way to keep up to speed with all the excellent DCE campaigns without being able to regularly check the forum.
  5. It's definitely a bug. While it may be an effect that needs some tuning, it's currently terribly ugly and as someone said above, makes the desert look like a swamp. I can see what you mean about adding depth but in its current state I am glad its gone
  6. I did a bit more of a search and I found this thread with same problem: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=201846 Seems that its not me or my system but rather a bug with a recent update. How do we flag this issue with ED? It's making otherwise beautiful terrain look really terrible!
  7. After quite a bit of tweaking I managed to get 2.5 running on my relatively older PC with a compromise between visuals and performance. I'm overall very happy with it. Except I get this odd texture reflection problem in the direct line of the sun and only on the Nevada map. I've switched off all external graphics options, I've tried without MSAA or AF. I don't get the same problem on Caucasus or Normandy. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance My system specs: i7-3770 3.40GHz Radeon R9 200/HD 7900 series 16Gb RAM

    2.5 ?

While it has been a long wait, the nevada terrain is very playable and has a number of available campaigns and missions. Have you played the red flag campaigns? The F-5E aggressor campaign or MBOT's F-5E/Mig-21 dynamic campaigns? There is plenty there to tide you over until 2.5 is released. Regarding the "juggling too many balls", while I am just guessing here, but I presume that ED have different teams and different people working on this terrains at different stages. For example, Normandy might have needed a lot of work from their artists but Nevada needs more work from programmers. Also remember that we are going to get a free 2.5 Caucasus map update.
  9. Wow, awesome news! I'm about to fly the last mission on the fantastic "UN Pilot" Huey campaign and I was wondering what I was going to do afterwards, because I still love flying the Huey. Can't wait for this one!
  10. Okay, these textures are awesome. I'm gonna give you the money you deserve for it. Is there any ongoing discussion/updates going on that I'm missing. The file I downloaded was version 2.5 but the thread only mentions up to 2.4?
  11. A couple of months ago I was just like you, a complete helicopter noob. The things absolutely terrified me, however, I decided I was going to learn how to fly one even if it killed me. (And it did kill me, many, many times) I learnt to fly on the Huey. I think it is the way to go because 1) the systems are very, very, very simple so you can just focus on flying it rather than setting it up 2) there are no automated flying systems, so you'll really have to learn the physics involved in flying a helo and develop the fine touch required to fly it well Since learning (but I've not yet "mastered") the Huey, I've started flying the Ka-50. The systems take much more time to learn but are not overwhelming. I couldn't believe how easy it was to fly the thing, however, in comparison. I can fling the Black Shark all around the battlefield without much difficulty. I haven't yet tried the Mi-8 (all those switches scare me) or the gazelle (It looks like a very finicky thing to fly, and its relatively new so I like the bugs to be ironed out first) but I am now in love with helos just as much as fixed wing aircraft. TL;DR - Learn on the Huey
  12. Are you guys really, really sure that this is operating as intended? It is extremely frustrating and counter-intuitive. Why can't it just work the way it does in this old training video? (Watch from 4:40) [ame] [/ame]
  13. Found this thread when I was looking for the manual. I really don't think we have anything to worry about. The Belsimtek manuals for all the other modules have been fantastic, better than EDs in some ways. It will come in good time.
  14. Thanks, that was a great read and some awesome screenshots!
  15. Bought! I was never previously aware of this aircraft but it is certainly gorgeous, and cockpit looks amazing! I'm always willing to support the amazing people who produce such high quality sims, and all the work they put into them!
  16. I've now played a few of the georgian oil war campaign missions. I've armed myself only with vikhrs and Kh-25ML's and I'm having great success and I even run out of targets before missiles! It is also more rewarding as I now feel I'm using a realistic payload. Thanks for the tips! Are you confusing them with the S-25L? The S-25L has shorter range and is slower but the Kh-25ML has a much longer range and is a great little AGM!
  17. You obviously haven't watched Rambo. That documentary clearly shows that rocket ordinance is frequently used against lone soldiers. Cool video too. You were lucky he missed both his shots but I would've been keen to rain down explosive vengence on him too.
  18. Thanks for the replies! Awesome info! I think I'll try going for a lighter, mission specific loadout and report back. The way I've been playing, I tend to try and shoot off my heavy ordinance first anyway so I can improve my flight performance.
  19. Hi guys, I've been flying the frogfoot a lot lately and I've tended to arm myself with all laser and tv guided missiles as this allows me to engage armour from outside the range of that nasty AAA and SAMs. However, I feel like I'm cheating a bit. For example I read that the Kedge TV guided is an expensive missile designed to take out ships but I'm using it on tanks. Would the real SU-25T ever use them on armour? Would you guys consider this cheating? Is it more realistic to just accept the mission payload? What would you consider a realistic SU-25T payload for a basic CAS mission? Thanks in advance!
  20. I should have said this earlier but.. Awesome podcast! Look forward to each episode. Never stop
  21. Oh I meant to say that my plane was rolling the right as well, not the left. Glad to hear that it is a known bug now fixed in the beta!! I'll just have to fly my SU25-T while I wait Thanks for the replies!
  22. Rolling right since the update Hi fellow simmers, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this? Ever since the update, when I fly the F15-c, the plan will persistently roll left. At first I assumed it was my crappy joystick, but on several checks, and using RCtrl + Enter, it is clear that my joystick is not doing anything. I've loaded up the SU-25T and it is not having the same problem, only the F-15. I haven't changed any other settings and it was working perfectly just before the update. Any ideas? It makes dogfights impossible:tomato:
  23. Thanks I know I said this on another thread but I'll say it again! Thanks LN! :cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc:
  24. Awesome! Got my key! Thank you so much to the guys at Leatherneck. We know you didn't owe us backers anything and we are so grateful to get a chance to fly this bird as we'd all hoped!
  25. Still haven't got my key. I noticed from my Indiegogo confirmation email that I backed it as an "Anonymous" user. Could that be the problem? I could forward the confirmation emails to you if needed.
