I haven't played DCS for more than two years, so yesterday I decided to hop back on and see what's new. Auto update kicks in and starts downloading an update, which was expected. After about an hour, the update had been downloaded and installed, but for some reason DCS.exe went missing... so I uninstalled the whole thing, downloaded DCS World 1.5 and reinstalled from scratch. Only after installing 1.5 do I realize that FC3 is still at version 1.2 and will no longer install onto the current version of DCS World. What do I do now? I want my F-15 back. :(

I see. What was the internal manufacturer's designation for the F-15C's? I know that NAA had these in the form of NA-###, but I don't know about McDonnell Douglas.
-
Was the F-15C an upgrade program for the F-15A's or were all F-15C's built as F-15C's straight from the factory? I'm wondering if this was the same thing as the A-10A to A-10C conversion program.

A cat with a lioness' heart, you mean. That cat is female. :) I've always found that female cats were more aggressive and protective than their male counterparts.

I've seen both reflector and emitter based clips worn on the head. Are they for different versions of the TrackIR or is it capable of both emitting and receiving IR? If it's capable of emitting, where are the emitters? I don't actually have TrackIR right now, but I'm thinking about it.

If you're catching fire after getting hit, isn't that expected? Also, no smoking in the cockpit when the no smoking signs are lit.

After doing about 30 practice landings with a full tank on a short runway, I think I've finally got the hang of it. Before the new AFM, I never felt the need to use flaps or pay any attention to my weight or speed, but that's all changed now. Check out the attached track. It's only around 4.5 minutes long. afm_f15c_landing.trk

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Sometimes I use the AIM-120 as a "spy missile". Check out the altitude (I think it's in feet). :) -
Silly Question: How do I tell if I have the new F15C?
Vampyr replied to sleat's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Yeah. If 1.2.8 updated correctly, this is what your F-15 should look like after your first landing attempt: -
Noticed something new about the new F-15C model today. I was flying inverted for 2-3 minutes, and as soon as I went from mil thrust to full afterburner, both engines died on me. I managed to restart the right engine but it was too late. :( I still don't understand what happened. Fuel starvation or compressor stall maybe?

Weird. Do I have to change something in the settings to get the verbal warnings back?
-
I noticed that with the new update, there are no more verbal warnings for over G, ground proximity, etc, as they've all been replaced by beeps. What happened? Is this what it's like in the actual F-15C?

I'm in, but I'm just going to fly around and observe everyone else. Don't kill me!

I just made the move from keyboard to flight stick, so I'm going over basic maneuvers plus take offs and landings. During my most recent landing attempt, I spun out near the end of the runway because I steered too much. The plane wasn't damaged, so I turned around and tried to take off again. All of a sudden the plane began to shake badly from side to side when rolling at low speeds. This made it pretty hard for me to taxi back to take off position. I looked outside and it seemed that 1/4th of the rear wheels were buried into the tarmac. Not sure what to make of this. Was this just some sort of glitch or did I actually blow out the tires when I spun out on the runway? I know that ED made some pretty big changes to this part of the simulation since the plane is no longer "glued" to the runway as it was in the previous versions.

Controlling rudders through joystick
Vampyr replied to Vampyr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just got back from returning it. I ended up getting a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I know it's not the best flight stick out there, but everything seems to be working fine and the stick itself seems solid. The only problem is that it's way too sensitive. I understand that I'm supposed to go into the controls and tune it, but I'm not sure how to do this. Can someone post a screenshot of their curves? edit: Nevermind, I think I've got the hang of this now. The dead zones needed to be set. -
Controlling rudders through joystick
Vampyr replied to Vampyr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, but the reason I went to the shops is because I didn't want to wait 1-2 weeks for the item to be shipped. If they're going to have another one shipped in anyway, I might as well start exploring other options in the same price range ($50 to $80). There's also a second option: I can forget about the faulty hat switch and get TrackIR instead. Looking around the cockpit is why I wanted the hat switch in the first place. -

Just confirmed that the stick is faulty. All inputs plus the blue LED light are on the same faulty control path. This was the last Madcatz Fly 5 they had at the store. I can refund it but I can't replace it. :( -

Are you sure about this? It's a brand new stick... :( All the other flight sticks available around my area cost $150 or more. This was good value. -

Damn, something's not right here. Why doesn't the hat switch let me look down, down left, or down right? I even downloaded the driver and it still doesn't work... The group circled in blue is the one I'm talking about: Buttons 5 and 2 don't seem to work either, but I can do without those. The hat switch not letting me look down is a bigger issue at the moment. -
Controlling rudders through joystick

Just bought the Madcatz stick and I just realized how terrible I am at flying with a proper input. Going from keyboard to flight stick is a huge change for me, so it's going to take a while before I get accustomed to this. I can't believe I'm back to practicing basic flight maneuvers, LOL. Maybe I'll use the TF-51 for practice before getting back in the F-15C. -

Does the Madcatz Saitek Cyborg F.L.Y. 5 have it too? -
I've been using a keyboard to fly for a while now, but with release of the new F-15C flight model, I'm now considering trying a joystick instead. The only problem is that I'd need to buy rudder pedals as well, but those are expensive. Is there any way I can control rudder pedals using the joystick alone?

I've managed to get locks on low flying helos if I fly at the same altitude as them.
