  1. @borchi 2b I appreciate your direct response sir. I do not however think that you need the French Army to tell you that the helicopter should not fly level without any cyclic input and a very asymmetrical load. Nor do you need anyone to tell you that once in VRS you should not be able to recover from it by simply pulling up on the collective as the only helicopter in the world capable of that AFAIK is the Sikorsky SkyCrane. All we ask in the short term is that you acknowledge those things that are clearly wrong so we know the intent to fix them is there. It is all too common for developers to give the dreaded "working as intended" response when things are clearly not. We want to be convinced that you are truly taking our words to heart, and that you truly do intend to make it right. I know forums are tough when it comes to feedback as there are always far too many ill informed opinions and poorly worded explanations. What I would suggest is that you establish direct communications with one of the persons who have demonstrated both knowledge and the ability to explain properly the problems which do exist, as well as the things that we "think" aren't right but perhaps actually are correct.
  2. Ok I know that the A-10C was originally developed for military training but the Ka-50 too?! Once I learn it I might change my mind, but I'm not super keen on modern fighter combat (BVR especially). I did get the F-15 so I'll try that eventually. As far as modern jets the A-10C will be my pit choice because of the number of campaigns and active multiplayer squadrons supporting it. I'll also be doing a WWII pit. The big question for me right now though, is Huey pit or Black Shark pit. I'll probably do very basic pits for both, but I've got to prioritize. Hell first I need to finish the Gazelle pit, but my enthusiasm for that project has been dampened somewhat by the flight model issues and the vibe I've gotten from PolyChop.
  3. Yurgon, Thanks for letting me know! I'm a night owl so the schedule might be ok for me to run with Germans, but I speak only English so that might be an issue. Do you guys have any videos of these operations I can watch?
  4. I think four years is enough that if it was going to catch on I think it would have by now. I just posted a thread seeking Huey groups. I want to see some video examples of multiplayer ops so I have a good idea of what I'd have in store for me if I commit to the Huey. Huey or KA-50 is a tough choice for me, I already own both but which to focus on learning and build a partial VR pit.
  5. Hey guys! I'm still trying to decide whether to go all in on learning the Huey or the KA-50 first and one of the biggest factors is how much there will be to keep me flying it once I master it. I know there are plenty of Squadrons flying the Ka-50, but I'd like to hear from anyone doing a lot of Huey multiplayer with formation flying etc. as the Huey style gameplay seems a bit more appealing to me. Both group PVP and PvE are good. In particular, please link videos of your group doing their thing! Also let me know how frequent and how long your multiplayer Huey ops are. Trip
  6. On another note, looking through the Squadron directory it seems that the Ka-50 is the only helicopter with lots of multiplayer groups flying it.
  7. BelsimTek still hasn't made getting multi-crew into their existing helis a priority, do we know that multi-crew is going to happen with the Mi-24 in a reasonable timespan?
  8. It's good to hear that you can go for up close and personal combat if you are bored with sniping. =) You would never do that by choice IRL of course, but going full Rambo is fun in sims!
  9. My better judgment says I should keep my mouth shut here, but I've re-read the OP several times and what I see is a wishy-washy statement that boils down to Borchi saying there is nothing wrong with the flight model. What I want to see is Borchi acknowledging that the flight model has serious flaws and vowing to fix it. @Borchi Maybe the FM isn't "all" wrong, but you must admit to the following: 1. The helicopter should not fly level with zero cyclic input and a severely asymmetrical load. 2. Once in VRS (however difficult it might be to get into) the helicopter should not be able to recover by simply increasing collective.
  10. My take on the Gazelle as it sits: It's fun to fly, but like "game" mode. I really appreciate that they have multi-crew (somewhat) working. The FM is not up to DCS standards, but will hopefully be fixed. My take on this whole argument: PolyChop's lack of communication with us is unacceptable. I don't believe that their "legal issues" could possibly make talking to us on the forums impossible. The one post I saw on this forum that appeared to be from a PC dev (though I can't confirm it was) responding to criticism of the module was whiny and unprofessional. I can't refer back to it because the thread was apparently deleted. I hope that the Poly whatever Gazelle team we wind up with when the legal issues are resolved will be better.
  11. @Whisper As far as I know we only have PolyChop's word that real Gazelle pilots said it was good. We (the community) are trying to get some Gazelle pilot opinions ourselves (got an iron in the fire on that one). @Vitormouraa We've been told that PolyChop (or maybe Poly-Dynamics I guess) are actively working on the Gazelle still and we've seen some evidence of that in patches. We've also been promised that once the legal issues are resolved things will go more or less back to normal. I think a lot of the reason this conversation always gets so heated is frustration with the whole communications blackout that doesn't seem to make any sense. I've never heard of a company completely shutting off all communication to customers and support of their product for the duration of legal proceedings like this.
  12. My ultra-micro RC helicopters taught me that. I actually stayed away from coaxial helis because they are too easy to fly! Mostly I flew Blade mSR, SR 120, and mCPX. @Isegrim Especially after Bearfoot's comment, can you try to describe to me the difficulty you mentioned in flying the Ka-50?
  13. I have to keep reminding myself that "fun to fly" should be enough to keep me from letting myself feel really bummed out about the Gazelle multi-crew SimPit project I'm still working on. I was committed pretty hard before I learned that the Gazelle flight model is totally sub-par or at the least very incomplete. Here is my main panel: I've got that built, collective grip and head, rotor brake and fuel flow assembly built, both seats, replica Gazelle/EC stick grip, and the shell for all the panels.
  14. Oh I'm sure that the overall task of flying missions presents a nice challenge. I was just referring to the actual shooting which appears to be find a good spot and autohover while you aim and shoot with the camera. I need to decide whether to make my next heli-pit (will be a partial) Ka-50 or Huey. I also need to decide which fixed wing aircraft to make a partial pit for first. A-10C or Spitfire most likely, though F-86 is also in the running.
  15. Yeah I've learned that on the forums over the past few weeks and now favor Belsimtek and ED modules. That is not to say I won't buy others but when it comes time to choose a module that does get factored in. Mostly this is because I feel like I got burned a little on the Gazelle. Hopefully PolyChop will be able to get it up to near the standard for the BST and ED helicopters. Especially since I'm a long way into a Gazelle sim cockpit build for multi-crew.
  16. Top notch flight model eh? Sweet. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with this one, though combat doesn't look very exciting based on youtube vids LOL.
  17. @Swimbody, PM sent with offer.
  18. Hey guys, just out of curiosity what is the general consensus on how good Ka-50 flight model is? I guess it's probably not easy to find anyone who has flown a full scale coaxial helicopter to evaluate it eh? I've only taken a couple quick test flights in it to date but I like the sound and feel of it so far.
  19. Thanks Cibit, looking at sigs is a good idea as that somewhat implies the unit is active. Part of the reason I'm looking into this now is I'm choosing which aircraft to get serious about learning first. A Huey squadron sounds like it could be a ton of fun. Any videos of your ops on youtube?
  20. Hey guys. I'm starting to think about getting involved with a squadron or two in the coming months but looking through the thread is a bit frustrating since they are in no particular order etc. I'd want to search active squadrons by aircraft used, time zone, language, etc. Is there a way to do this currently, via an external site or whatever?
  21. I would be interested in this as well. VR of course has both disadvantages and advantages but still would be cool to know you are flying with/against only other VR flyers.
  22. @FragBum it's easy as can be. DCS 1.5 will even copy most of the files automatically from your 2.0 install (and vice versa) and be already validated from the other install as well (does not consume an additional key validation). Your control settings will not automatically be copied, but you can copy them over.
  23. Thanks X-ray. I really like the changes you made to the collective after going to the Gazelle fly-in! I need to put together a parts list for my collective in the next day or two.
  24. My next big project is making a G-seat, I'll have to give this thread a thorough reading as I haven't found a complete step by step guide yet to follow. If anyone has any links they recommend to help me get it built feel free to send them my way. I have to do it on the cheap, so wipers are probably my best bet right?
  25. @frusheen Let us know how you make out with that once you've tested it.
