Hey guys, I have a question for those who have used the Jetseat. I have a 6DOF motion sim (See this link for a quick demo: ) and I own a Buttkicker mini and two Aura ST bass shakers but they are not installed yet. Has anyone used SimShaker with both bass shakers and JetSeat simultaneously? Was it worth the extra money? For that matter, is it possible to run this setup? JetSeat sounds great but I'd miss the shaking on the pedals, throttle, and stick I think if I used the JetSeat only. The other way around I feel like maybe the Jetseat is redundant if I have a good shaker setup running on SimShaker.

Now THAT is interesting! Also somewhat amusing. I have a buttkicker and two Aura ST shakers, I need to look into DCS SimShaker support to see what it is capable of (will it specifically simulate the shaking that precedes a stall?), I'll go look that up after I finish typing this. If I can't get stall shake transmitted to my stick via SimShaker I'll have to look into options to try to get the shaking signal from the FFB and somehow use it to shake my stick on the VKB gimbal.

OK, after lots of reading, shopping, watching youtube videos, and remembered recent conversations I went all-in on the A-10C! The aircraft and all campaign modules for around $85 wow!

Just wanted to follow up here, I've decided that for now I'm going to work on an A-10C cockpit instead of the P-51 because I became convinced that I'll be spending more time in the Warthog. I will quite possibly still build the P-51 rig after the 'hog. What convinced me? The general enthusiasm for the A10 in this community and the available campaigns.

Greetings folks! TL;DR- I'm building an A-10C cockpit exclusively for DCS in Oculus Rift. As such, I will be using the buttons and switches blind, looking at their VR counterparts (augmented reality where are you!?) so it occurs to me that matching the actual rendered dimensions of the cockpit in-game might give better results than attempting to replicate the real cockpit as closely as possible. I intend to use Dimebug and others excellent work to make this a somewhat quick initial build but is it possible to obtain exact measurements from inside DCS A-10C? Full version: After a restless night of research I think I've decided to build my cockpit out as an A10-C instead of the P-51, not that I may not eventually wind up doing both =P. This decision was reached mostly based on DCS community members telling me how much they love the A-10C and the fact that the available campaigns really appeal to me. I will be doing some initial experiments with @dimebug 's plans in VR once I get home from Holiday, but in the meantime I'm stuck out of town at the in-laws trying to make "progress" with nothing available to me but a very slow laptop, hence my flurry of forum activity the past ten hours or so LOL. As per the TL;DR section I'm thinking that working directly from the DCS in-engine dimensions for the A-10C cockpit might work better for a tactile cockpit built for VR than any other (real thing etc.) dimensions so I'm wondering if anyone can provide dimensional info directly from DCS? Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays all! Trip

Force feedback realism First allow me to say I understand the benefit of having FFB on the joystick to clue you in on an impending stall etc. This post is not about that, it's about pure realism in the feel of an A-10 stick. So here is the question: In a real A- 10 does the pilot feel any feedback from the stick when the hydraulic systems are working normally? Just FYI in cars with hydraulic steering the feedback you get from the steering wheel is more or less artificially provided. Is it this way in the A- 10? I ask because this will be the deciding factor as to whether or not I feel the need to use my warty grip with a modded FFB2 base or use my sexy Vkb all metal gimbal. Thanks!

Hey guys! With the sale prices I'm looking at getting another module or two and thought it might be fun to debate which are the best choices! First, some info on me: Skill level- Noob Commitment level- 6+ hours/week and would like to join an active squadron who are into realism. I'm looking for a specific aircraft to commit to and spend 1000's of hours in ultimately. Equipment- Oculus Rift, Thanos powered 6DOF Stewart motion chair, Warthog joystick, MFG Crosswind pedals, and I like to home build controls. Current modules: P-51 and Nevada Interests: I like the WWII era and I'm not much a fan of engagements at long ranges exchanging missiles and such. Something about the F-86 calls out to me, is it great? I've always had a thing for helicopters but know nothing about combat helicopter gameplay. The A-10C seems to have a huge following and lots of content. I'm not sure I see the appeal of air to ground over dogfighting but figure there has to be a reason it's so popular and for $20 on sale right now maybe I'd just better try it for myself? Also seems to me that attacking ground targets mostly means looking at less impressive graphics a lot more no? The catch: I'm dying to get started on my tactile cockpit for VR so I'd like to pick an aircraft to commit to in the next week or two. Let's not just make this about aircraft though, what are your favorite campaigns and why? Thanks, Trip

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not getting any airframe shake through my motion sim when approaching stall. I wonder if (assuming it's not a matter of adjustment on my end which I don't think it is) this would need to be added by ED, or a change made to the motion software (I use BFF simulation). I suspect maybe my FFB2 is weak, need to see if I can get another one cheap. Going to try either the resistor mod to up power, the dual FFB2 mod, or both. I will be extending the stick also, and putting on a more realistic grip. @yo-yo You don't happen to know if the P-51 presents buffeting through the stick do you?

1060 or 980 @1080P

Definitely go with the 1060 or 1070, depending on how much you are willing to spend. These cards are a really big leap forward from the 900 series. -
Looking for the most immersive possible DCS experience flying my P-51. I'm a noob learning the ropes currently, and my time commitment would be about 6 hours per week at this time. What I really want is realistic communication and coordination with other pilots, preferably on the level of some of the "realism" units in Arma who do things like forbid speaking if you are dead etc. Please respond to this thread and/or PM me on this forum. Thank you for your consideration, Trip "RIP" Rodriguez

I subscribed to air corps library and as I feared it's going to be difficult to impossible for me to get what I'm looking for. Tons of details on individual parts but what I want is dimensions of assemblies mostly. How wide is the canopy at the bottom? How high off the floor is the bottom of the canopy assembly? How far forward from the seat back are the pedals/flaps handle/trim knobs/etc. Ideally I think I want scale cross sections of the assembled cockpit.

Okona! Fancy meeting you here LOL. The original is plastic isn't it? I would be interested if the price was right =). Been looking on ebay in fact but this is very much a side project and I'm very much broke at the moment. =P Still testing and tuning but check it out my friend! Thank you for talking me into going 6DOF, even if I will be paying off credit cards for the next few years as a result. =P I'm using FAR less than the full range of motion, big motion looks cooler but smaller movements feel better in VR. I crashed on landing yesterday and wound up inverted and for a second I would have sworn I was hanging upside down if I didn't know better LOL.

Hey guys! Not sure if I should be posting here or a new thread but I'm looking for P51 dimensions too. I run Oculus Rift so my cockpit build will be about accurate placement of my switches and other controls and not about aesthetics or gauges since they don't matter with the Virtual Reality headset on. I'm not sure how far I'm going to go with this build but you know how it goes =D. Anyhow, what I need are dimensions for the cockpit in general, to build a tub. Anyone able to help or tell me whether or not those paid services will do a good job of giving me the info I need? Thanks! Trip

Thanks Ramsay! That's actually very helpful, as it means the FFB2 will be useful at least on some airplanes. Now to determine which prop driven aircraft in DCS have the best force feedback effects. If anyone has experience and can chime in to say which of the WWII aircraft available in DCS have the most realistic force feedback please do so! This includes the P-51, as I'm not saying it doesn't, I only tested it fairly briefly and only in the air as I didn't have the ability to use my rudder and throttle during the test which makes taking off and landing (and flying in general) unpleasant for me! I'm spoiled, what else can I say?

Hey guys! I've just recently got my Stewart type 6DOF motion simulator up and running (but not yet finished!) and have started flying with it in DCS. I wanted to add a Force Feedback joystick to add realism, especially for the sake of my soon to be 90 year old father who was a RL pilot (but hasn't flown for about 20 years) and was in the Air Force just after WWII as an aircraft mechanic and then flight engineer. I want his VR flight experience to be as realistic as possible to maximize the nostalgia effect. For this reason I purchased a Microsoft Force Feedback 2 USB joystick on ebay and have just tested it out in the P-51 Mustang. My question is: How realistic is the feedback from the Joystick? The only thing I felt was shaking when the aircraft was approaching a stall (does the stick in a real antique airplane shake before a stall?) and shaking when I pulled up hard or dove hard, I assume indicating excessive stress on the airplane. Since I'm already using a motion sim it's not useful function I'm looking for out of the stick but realistic feel. If you want to see my simulator (being used in Prepar3d) check out the video. Just ignore the commentary which you can't hear very well anyway, I recorded this for the folks helping me test and tune my new toy. :D

Miles, I too would like to purchase a set. I'll send a PM as well. Thanks! Trip
