Oh nice, Realtek's latest Vista drivers fixed that last remaining sound issue in LockOn. Now everything is perfect on this nVidia 680i system with an nvidia card in it!
-
I am mainly looking for a fix for onboard Realtek HD Audio myself. The engines afterburners sound like they are on full time. Other than that, everything else is great.
-
Now if only we could get the 3D Sound effect fixed. As I stated in other posts regarding Vista and LockOn :FC , the sound problem appears to be due to the fact that Vista handles sound differently than XP did, i.e. Vista does not use DirectX (DirectSound) to handle sound effects in gaming. If anyone should happen to find a fix or patch method to get it to work, please post.

Take a look at this. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=22699 before posting problems or bugs to see if it remedies your LockON FC install.

I was noodling around in Vista when I think I have discovered how to get LockOn to look great in it. Installation: Prior to installing, right click the setup.exe, go to properties, compatibility tab, and check the boxes for both the Run as Administrator and Run in Compatibility Mode for XP-SP2. Then install by clicking the same setup.exe. (Do this for all other programs for LockOn as well such as Loman, Modman, etc...) Once it has installed and all of your mods are installed, go to the LockOn folder on your hard drive (normally in the C:/Program Files/ Ubisoft/Eagle Dynamics/Lock On/) and find the LockOn.exe file. Right click the LockOn.exe file, go to properties, compatibility tab, and again for this, check the boxes for Run as Administrator, Run in Compatibility for XP-SP2 and also check the box next to "Disable Desktop Composition". This last setting changes the Vista Aero scheme to the Vista Basic mode in effect disabling Aero from Vista. Once you are done flying, Vista will revert back to normal, and then the next time you go to play LockOn, it will change back automatically for you. This has fixed the disappearing cockpit and other graphic problems I had on the nVidia card system with nVidia chipset I have. I hope it works for you as well.

For all that play lockon in widescreen format
T4L0N replied to Nate Dogg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks Kuky, The 37" display we are speaking of though is a 1080P so the resolution is 1920 x 1080, so it should be quite good! My biggest worry is the chopping of the image top and bottom. I was going to buy a 42", then a 40" but these are a bit too big for the distance I will be sitting from them for flight. So the 37" is borderline (32" being the ideal size based on my numbers for me). I will probably hold off even longer due to this issue with chopping the top and bottom off, and just continue flying on my 21" @ 1600x1200 LCD. -

In LockOn FC, do you gain width-wise, but lose vertically some of the normally seen image area when using standard resolutions? I would like to see a screenshot if you could, of what your standard in cockpit, looking straight ahead looks like at the high resolution. If you have the time. -

Thanks for the heads-up, but I wouldn't be using is as a TV without either my DVR connected to it or Cable box, and both of those have TV Tuners built-in to them for the TV. -

Wide Aspect LCDs I was considering purchasing this (http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=56 )for my flying/gaming/computer needs. Its the 37" (didn't want to go much bigger than this due to proximity) Westinghouse 1080P but after reading all of this, I am hesitant of going away from my 21.3" LCD that does a standard 1600x1200 resolution. Has this wide-aspect lcd problem with the views been corrected yet, or has a workaround been found for LockOn 1.12a? -
Works great in Vista, no complaints here at all.

Windows Vista: The longest suicide letter...
T4L0N replied to Cdr.Instigator's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have LockON:FC installed on Vista Ultimate and running better than it ever did on XP pro. I get more FPS on the same exact system. To confirm this finding, I have this installed on a Sager Gaming Laptop in a dual boot configuration. 1st OS is still XP Pro with LockOn:FC and 2nd OS is Vista Ultimate with LockOn:FC. Going back and forth, I can say 100% that on THIS particular Gaming laptop system, LockOn runs better on Vista than it does on XP. It may be the new ATI drivers for the ATI Mobility 9700 Pro (256Mb) video card just make it run faster, but I get better fps with higher settings in Vista than XP. Not saying for everyone to go out and test Vista, but it works for me incredibly. RealVNC works faster as well on Vista. FYI: for those about to try it, remember to right click the exe before install and run in compatibility mode for XP SP2, and as administrator. Then run the install for each cd in sequence doing this for the exe's. Then you have to download the starforce update tool when it asks you to the first time you try to start FC. Dont forget to install updated video drivers for your cards. Some beta nVidia drivers are having issues ( thus the word 'beta'), the ATI ones seem to work real well. -
Looks real good so far. Keep up the great work.

I have Vista and running with LockOn FC and BF2142 just perfectly (ATI 9700 Pro) and running even better than with the same system and XP Pro on it (more fps). The problems with the 8800 video cards is not a Vista or XP issue, since the forums are flooded with people having issues with the 8800's first in XP and now recently in Vista. Its a video card driver issue, not an OS issue. The initial 8800 drivers seem to be plagued with many problems it seems. By the way, since I have made the laptop dual boot with XP Pro and Vista Ultimate, I was able to go back and forth to compare my findings on the more FPS. I am not saying Vista is problem free, but rather the problem lies on those new video cards or their drivers. As for myself and Vista, so far it has been a godsend as it has been the easiest OS to install from MS for me to date and it also has given my laptop alot more FPS in the games I play. Maybe it wasn't Vista, but rather the new ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Pro drivers for Vista.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to figureout how to get SLI support in LockON:Flaming Cliffs.

Can anyone convert this carrier model into LOM format ?
T4L0N replied to Majesco's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Beautiful Carrier, especially at night. I would love trying to do some traps on that. It might be possible but you would need the 3DS Max file of the carrier.
