Syrian and Afghan theatre of operations confirmed!

Hype is real! (from wags' livestream) -
Multiplayer crashes straight to desktop with no error about 2 minutes into "Select Role" every single time on every server. Crashes with or without any input (mouse or keyboard). I know the select role screen has always been buggy but I've never had this problem before. Any hints as to what I can do?

Any word or leak regarding the new weather system?
-
Still waiting on a modern combat zone. No Syria development?
-
It would be awesome to get the A & T up to speed with the rest of the PFM group. Su-25s are really in need of a cockpit retexture like the MiG 29 PFM to cut glare. Including rain drops. Su-25T is in need of a reskin on the outside also, current skins and textures are the most outdated in the game. Would love to see UB 32 rocket launcher 3D model upgraded and Su-25 drop tanks model updated. Please shine some light on this as the Su-25T is the first impression new players will have in DCS.

Should have posted this in Bugs
-
Noticed this too! OpenBeta changelog said they corrected a "red outline in mirrors" not sure if its the same thing. I'm running the release version.

I was experiencing the same thing until I reinstalled the system and DCS on an SSD. DCS is unplayable on an HDD. DCS has to run on an SSD its unplayable and load times are extreme.

A small tribute to the Mig29 and ED's job
terminator363 replied to Eight Ball's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Gotta give it to ED they really nailed this module. Brought the MiG 29 back to life! Hopefully we'll see this on the rest of FC3. -
Hey everyone, I just picked up an SSD so I got back into DCS. While I was playing with graphics settings to get the best FPS I noticed something strange. It always occured to me that FC3 aircraft had terrible resolution mirrors. I just turned on Dirt + Flare effects and voila! All the aircraft mirrors (PIP) are super high resolution (with great performance)! What gives? Anyone else noticed this (good) glitch??

Recently I've noticed 3rd party developers are releasing exceptional content while ED's platform perpetually ages. Now, I'm not going to deny there have been improvements in lighting and effects. However, compared to 3D models of 3rd developers the platform and its original modules start to look a little off. Usually you would expect the base engine to trump all 3rd party content. I understand ED is trying to broaden its market scope with WW2 content but there isn't really support for existing modules (besides physics tweaks). I mean fair play to expand the playing ground and introduce a more diverse player field but treat your existing users with equal priority. Quality > Quantity. Worst part is ED is a painfully obvious puppet of The Fighter Collection. If you're reading this it probably isn't the first time you would have heard this rant. Lots of us discovered DCS as a pure modern fighting sim and enjoyed its modern focus. Many were upset when WW2 entered the series - and fair enough we already have IL2, WarThunder and older titles that satisfy the market. That's not my reason to be upset. The reason why I'm frustrated is that older FC3 modules and base components are being neglected. We have a mass influx of new modules but I still cant see through the mirrors of my MiG 29. My Su-25 is still rocking pods with two polygons. The encyclopedia is a plethora of grey blobs. I keep being told 3D models are being improved but years go by and I don't see any changes. The work is simple but ED has its hands tied with stakeholders. By all means continue to release new content but set aside a minute of your time to unify the experience. There's a glitch in the matrix and its every model the team has turned its back on. Its an immersion killer for everyone, modern day users and WW2 users.

Syrian and Afghan theatre of operations confirmed!

Any news? -
Happens to me too when spawning. PC can't load terrain fast enough. I'm on an HDD - I assume thats the reason for me.

Yup cumulous clouds are in very in need at the moment
-
Currently when flying through clouds the only thing we see is a very slow-mo choppy distant cloud animation. Is there any chance once over vape code is complete it can be implemented on flight surfaces when flying through clouds? (enhance sensation of speed).
-
ah the thread move suggests no dice
-
Can our current weather model allow us to simulate thunder clouds without rain? Just wondering because this does occur in reality. Thanks!
-
Huh everything seems to work after the update today. So is turning off the approach lights a war time thing or is it a power saving option? :megalol:
-
Ok, now that Caucasus is updated (and looks beautiful) airfields are totally in the dark except for blue taxi lighting. How come?

Then hire more artists to get the job done (interns or something for the summer) and create new modules as they go. The faster they update legacy units and objects the faster they can concentrate on future modules and development in the long run.
