Im sorry I was not comparing going through walls to ECM blinking. Only that the fact the game enables me to do it doesnt mean it is not an exploit or cheat. But I believe GG is right...live with it until its fixed or find something else to do. As I already said many squadrons will only fly online with theyr own people to avoid the nuissance of these whatever you wanna call them glitch/cheat/exploit/normal feature of the game ;) . Find a good virtual squadron that will focus more on realism and will actually respect the "simulation" part of the game. I know a lot are recruiting. I will proceed to make a post that i hope will be stickied for squadrons recruiting and ppl looking for squadrons :)

For all that play lockon in widescreen format
OldFrankHog replied to Nate Dogg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Oh yeah to get the same vertical view you need a wayyyyy larger FOV. My FOV on a 4:3 screen was 94 and now on a 16:10 its 105 and i dont get even close the same vetical view. But past 105 i found it made that thing you talked about like rolling the edges. Anyways try 105 i like it a lot. -

I wish i still had my 4:3 screen id show you the diffrence you get, ill try and explain. With my 4:3 screen in the f-15 i could see all the instruments all the way down to the landing gear lights from the top of the launch lights on the canopy rail without seeing the sides of the rail. Now with a widescreen i can see down to half the HSI up to the canopy rail but i see way behind the rails to the side. Ill try and find a screen shot and show you. -

Those screen shots arent right by the way one is in 1024x640 the other is in 1024x819...I see no 1680x1050...of course if both the shots have the same width (1024) then you wont see a difference... -
The fact that everyone can do it doesnt change the fact that its a glitch/cheat/exploit XD Its all about if it was supposed to be doable or not. Maddoging missiles was SUPPOSED to be doable. Pressing ECM toggle 2 million times in 1 minutes wasnt taken into consideration as the developers probably never thought some nerds would find out that pressing it like a retard would fack up the other planes radar. Now about real life....this is a game...a very realystic game yes for sure...but still a game. Maybe in real life ecm isnt the same thing as in lock on maybe it is, i dont know im not an f-15 pilot and so ive never been jammed by an su-27 either. Dont compare it to real life else ill ask you kindly to put the hammer in your hotas with 250 button configurations and your macros. Exploits are a common thing in every game, mostly online games as ppls e-penises grow if they can kill without being killed. There will always be a moron doing some sort of cheat or exploit for personnal benefit degrading the quality and realism of the game. Find a squadron based on realism, as these squadrons will not use any exploits or cheats to increases theyr e-privateparts but rather try and simulate a real flight with rules and protocol.

So if i understand correctly you ca nmanually turn ecm on and off with no delay in a real aircraft aswell ? But could a pilot actually take one of his hands off the controls and punch ecm toggle 323135315123 times while manoeuvering, locking a target, firing a missile, launching flares/chaffs, laughing at you cause you cant do sh1t ?

I dont know how you managed to get an aspect ratio of 1.25:1.... Making your resolution to 1280x1024 wont automatically give you an aspect ratio of 1.25:1 it will simply shrink or stretch your image at the default lockon ratio of 4:3. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=514#dl <----Here you go. Look in the previous post i put a link to a tool that does it all for you no need to go play in your config files. -
Australian JSF/F22 debate hotting up
OldFrankHog replied to Anytime's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Who cares ? I live in Canada and all we have is less then 100 cf-18s to do everything. We know it sucks but we aint crying about it. Australia is in OTAN right ? then dont worry if you ever happen to NEED f-22's im sure the US of A will be kind enough to launch a couple from japan to come and play ball. -
Bah as long as the realism and gameplay is good you could make the apache candy pink with green spots and Ill still play it :P

OldFrankHog replied to Nate Dogg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It does take away some vertical view but you get use to it really quickly and can compensate by setting a larger default FOV. As long as you can see your HSI without much moving around your ok. Also with a 16:10 screen you should get better vertical view then with a 16:9 screen. Personnaly I bought a LG Flatron 20.1 inch. Theyr real cheap and have 5ms response time and 2000:1 contrast ratio. Very happy with the quality/price. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=514#dl This tool is awesome to set up your graphics and views as long as you dont go into the option menu in Lomac again after setting it up. -

Same here. Widscreen is so immersive especially with TrackIR you can actually look sideways a bit not just turn your head with your eyes centered on the middle of the screen. -
The Migs Visibility problem
OldFrankHog replied to Pilotasso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
"Your eye will see anything that is *big enough*" Exactly. So the eye doesnt have a max range. Even if the object is 20 square miles or 1 square inch....if its 100 miles away its 100 miles away. -

F14 is old ... whats the big deal?
OldFrankHog replied to JonTex's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ive got an idea to get this thread back on topic :) Were gonna call F-14 parts "Lollypops" and Iranians "Little girls"... Ok now... "Should U.S. sell LOLLYPOPS to LITTLE GIRLS" /discuss -
Those video are hilarious too bad theyr not making them anymore.

F14 is old ... whats the big deal?
OldFrankHog replied to JonTex's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You have to remember that having an "average" of 25 hours maintenance for each hour of flight doesnt mean that EVERY single F-14 that goes up for an hour is down for 25... It just means that more F-14's are down getting repaired at a given time then F-18's would be. Wich means for the same number of aircraft F-18's represent a bigger force then F-14's. Dun get me wrong i love F-14's they are my favorite fighter i just wish they didnt break so often but they are getting old...just has the F-18's will get old in 10 years... Anytime Baby...! -

Guess he wont be able to joing the aussie air force then  -
Im not entirely sure what you mean but i think you want the resolution to change ? I had the same problem and i used this tool to set it up. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=134&lid=514&ttitle=LOCFG_Tweak_App_v2.2#dldetails It works very well but when you go to the resolution scree nmake sure you uncheck the "automatic height resolution". Hope this helps

You should be able to use it in FC aswell. Have you made sure zoom was mapped in your controls ?

How do I tell my heading?
OldFrankHog replied to FrankTheSpank's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The "thing that looks like a ruler" indicates yoru heading in increments of 10 degrees. so for example in your picture heading is close to 04. so 04x10 = 40 degrees
