  1. Exactly why I am never far from a town, or something to hide in. Unless BlueFlag intends to have missiles turn corners around buildings? I think that is a what makes my Ka50 so amazing, Blue depends to heavily on technology rather than tactics. You don't send a Jet to kill a Heli, you send a jet to FIND a Heli. Then send in a Heli to kill it! Reaper6
  2. Interesting to know. Usually if there is more than 2 fighters that I can't shoot down on my own, my rotors stop spinning within 5 seconds. Reaper6
  3. It was that or we couldn't capture all 3 airbases. I would trade a Ka50 for 2 towns and 3 airbases any day. It allowed the Mi8 to move in and drop troops, which I consider my primary responsibility in BlueFlag. Reaper6
  4. And add radar ground clutter? I'm all for that :) Reaper6
  5. "easier to kill"? Wouldn't one have to be killed first in order for it to be "easier" from then on? Reaper6
  6. I don't fly jets, so this may be a stupid question... But what does this have to do with BlueFlag? Reaper6
  7. Combining Lines and Points in ABRIS Here is an example of how I use the ADD LINE and ADD PONT function of ABRIS during BlueFlag. As I stated before, I generally use the "ARC" page instead of the MAP page while going in for engagements. You are able to see your lines way better in this screen. An example of what I use for possible fighter jet routes are red lines in ABRIS. This helps to keep me aware of those areas while enroute and attacking. I have a Gazelle locked in my Shkval, and have entered it into my Data-Link Immediatley(Blue diamond sysmbol w/ #1). You will also nitice I have changed the Shkval indicators to "black" for better visibility. Here you can see I have replaced the Data-Link symbol with the ADD POINT option. Useful in knowing where possible Helicopters may travel in the future. Also there may be a wingman or transport heli in that area. So hopefully this puts things a bit more in prespective of why these functions are important in your ABRIS. Reaper6
  8. Not at Red airfields... Put a hundred of them at originally Blue owned airfields doesn't make a difference to me. Reaper6
  9. Thank you for your comments. Not sure if you already have it, or if you run multiple monitors, but "Helios" is also a great companion for DCS. It allows you to put your gauges, switches, etc on different monitors. I use a regular keyboard but I do have a front cockpit panel I made using 3 separate monitors. There are also additional keypads available, I bought a "Genovation" one that I use strictly for the PVI inputting coordinates. You can print and cut labels for the keys. Kind of expensive, but well worth it in regards to saving time adding waypoints to the PVI. https://www.amazon.com/Genovation-Controlpad-CP24-Keypad-CP24-USBHID/dp/B00O1ASXKO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D58SNYSV7NR3TZKP1D6D I circled the keypad in yellow, just for example how I have it setup. You can also see how Helios is a valuable asset as far as gauges/readouts on different monitors. Since I took this picture I got rid of the X52pro and purchased the Warthog. Definitely a good investment! Reaper6
  10. Depends on how you look at it I guess. There has been several times I have encountered multiple Gazelles. Generally they are easier to spot that way, because they fly so close together. It would be about the same as having 2 Ka50s in the same area, or even a Ka50 and an Mi8. I personally don't want another Heli flying anywhere close to me, so I make them stay back a few hundred meters. Having multi-role does take away from having an additional aircraft, however sometimes fewer is better. Reaper6
  11. I personally am ok with taking away the bomber from the Ka50, for me personally it is useless. Unless I want to divert enemy fighters from an area, I hardly use it. Also, just to note that they have added more buildings to airfields. So no longer can a single Ka50 pilot destroy an airfield. Actually I should say... The Ka50 still can take down an airfield on his own, but it is very difficult compared to previous rounds. Just to note as well, if I am correct the Gazelle is multirole? So having two sets of eyes would be an advantage over the Ka50, If using the correct tactics. I think at least from my view, that is where Blue Heli pilots are lacking, not machinery. Reaper6
  12. Not to sound like a troll but, adding more Gazelles is going to fix this problem? I don't have the Gazelle, and honestly have no plans on buying the thing. I'm sure being it's a new module, it's going to have bugs or whatever. But could landing the Gazelle without damage be done with practice or training? I know it took me a while to land the Shark without damage back in the day. Reaper6
  13. 6 Gazelles equal 1 Ka50? Aren't they able to spawn 4 Gazelles and 4 Hueys at each FARP, where we can only spawn 2? Even though it would suit my needs, I'm not sure I'm on board with making available Helis at all airfields. And purely having Blue able to spawn Helis at all airbases and not Red I am definitely not on board with that one. Aren't Gazelles also able to carry a Man-Pads? Reaper6
  14. I think you have the ATMZ-5 at the FARPs, maybe try the ATMZ-10? I have no idea what the problem could be. Unless you put a different member of the coalition as the vehicles other than Russian. We are working around it by just loading wing tanks and filling up that way. Takes a bit longer, but it works. Anyway, thanks again for all you and your teams hard work putting this together. Reaper6
  15. Good information. Are you using the weapons override? You are able to launch and kill at around 8.7 in a hover. Sometimes 8.9 when moving forward at 290kmh. Definitely a good idea to always keep on the move when engaging! Reaper6
  16. I think all they would have to code is how to unhook it. I tried it in the past and it seems like "Sling stabilization" seems to work, unless it's just my imagination. I haven't tried since 1.5 or 2.0 so I will have to give it a look today, maybe now you can unhook it. Reaper6
  17. Adding Lines to ABRIS(Cont.) You can also go back and erase a line if you no longer want it shown on the ABRIS. From your "LINE" page, slew your "black box" cursor over the line you wish to delete. Notice the line again becomes "thick", you can select FSK2 "DELETE" and your line will be deleted. This will delete the ENTIRE group of lines for that selection! You will not be able to delete just one part of the line group. Reaper6
  18. Adding Lines to ABRIS Adding lines is a very useful tool for planning routes in ABRIS. Probablly my second most used function of ABRIS, adding points being my most used. Adding lines is important to show suspected or known enemy aircraft routes, FEBA-Forward Edge of Battle Area, LOA-Limit of Advance, etc. Usually I am inputting these lines during pre-flight and start-up. But there are cases where you input these during flight, but not as often as adding points. Being similar to adding points, adding lines follows the same procedures. Using steps 1-3 navigate to the "ADD INF" page of ABRIS. 1)Once at the "ADD INF" page you will select FSK2 or "ADD LIN" option, circled in yellow. Again you will have to manipulate your "black box" cursor away from your current point. 2)Once you have selected "ADD LIN" you will arrive in the "LINE" page of ABRIS(noted at the top left corner of ABRIS screen). You will notice the exact coordinates of your "black box" cursor circled in yellow. Once you have the cursor at the coordinates, press FSK1 "ENTER" option. This will be the begining point of your line. 3)Once you have put the end point of the line where you want it, press FSK1 "ENTER" again to end that current section of the line. I have circled in yellow details for the current line I am drawing. Range from the start point of my CURRENT line, bearing, and reverse bearing. You will also notice the current color selection of my line is "yellow", but the line I am working on is "red". Once you have finished a line it will revert to the color of line you have selected. The line you are working on will always be in red. 4)To change the color of the line select FSK2 "COLOR", I have also circled in yellow the bars off to the right in the ABRIS screen. These are the available colors you have, some may contrast with other map objects or lines. So I mainly use the "ARC" page for a better representation of these lines. You can only change the current set of lines you are working on as a whole, not as individual lines. If you wish to have different colors of lines, you will have to add them individualy. Also note that the width of the "white" line we have drawn is rather thick. This is letting you know that this line is part of your current set of lines. 5)Once you have completed the current set of lines, press FSK5 "CANCEL", this ends your current group of lines. 6)Once you have finished your lines, you will notice if you slew your "black box" cursor away from these lines they are not selected or "thick" lines. You can save these lines the same as you would with the ADD PNT function. Follow steps 8-12 as we covered above. (Cont.)
  19. It's referring to the HDD inside ABRIS. You can save directly into the mission folder, using the "Plan Mission" function of Mission Editor. Would actually be nice if ED would somehow make it to where you could actually save this permanently thru "Saved Games" folder. But for now each time you select a new KA50, you're pretty much stuck re-planning your routes. Reaper6
  20. Unfortunatley no. Reaper6
  21. @Greg Red still isn't able to refuel at FARPs. I can see the fuel truck right on top of the FARP. The ground crew still says after requesting fuel "unable to comply". I tried at a few FARPs, and nothing. I really have no idea what the problem could be. As long as the FARP is "Russian" and the fuel truck is also "Russian" should be ok? Very strange though... Reaper6
  22. Noted... I will work on that :) Reaper6
  23. I actually like that idea! Reaper6
  24. I think I used my Shark more for CAP than actually attacking any ground targets. Especially in this last round, it seemed like I was swarmed by fighters no matter where I went. Sup with that??? Reaper6
