Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8
Reaper6 replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
A single KA50 doesnt need a bomber to take out a bluefor base. So only Bluefor should have the ability to use bombers? It's not like Bluefor has a 3 to 1 advantage or anything... Reaper6 -
Are you sure it isn't modeled? I use A/A-H/O everytime to take out F15s etc. You can also engage A/A mode on groups of infantry which will achieve a proximity burst which kills them. Reaper6

I've looked into it, this is what I have come up with. Step 1: KA50(Lasing): Laser rangefinding/designator mode switch to designate(This allows full 21 second laser time, if the The lasing KA50 is equiped with KH25ML laser will burn for 60 seconds). KA50(shooter): Laser power off. Manual/Auto weapon control switch to Manual. Step 2: KA50(Lasing): Acquire and DL target to Shooter. KA50(shooter): Ingress DL target and lock with Shkval. Select KH25ML and range target ONLY, and turn off laser. Step 3: KA50(Lasing): Announce countdown to laser Designate(ie, 3-2-1). KA50(Shooter): Once laser has been announced, wait 1 second and then launch KH25ML. To get any sort of range or speed from the KH25ML, you have to have altitude and forward speed. The higher and faster you are, the more probability it will impact prior to laser shutoff. The Missle with start to loose speed around 8km and dive, when fired at 2km AGL forward speed around 270kmh. Hope this helps. Reaper6

I haven't read all the posts on this. But I know TAW has a policy of no swearing in their group. Reaper6

When flying from place to place: Set your Shkval to scan(1.0-1.5) just above the horizon, select A/A and A/A HO. This is what I generally do, along with keeping my head on a swivel. More times than not(especially with 1.5) you can spot them first. Generally they will come after you with guns, or once in a while heaters. Either way, more times than not I can get a pair of Vikhrs off before they can even fire on me. AND STAY IN CITIES AND TOWNS! As for their radar, it makes no difference. If they know you are in the area they will just select up heaters and that will generally find you. But usually they have to go lower and slower than they normally would. And that's when you give them a couple Vikhrs to think about(while they're ejecting), because they will get absolutley no warning they are coming. Reaper6

Laser cycle out/burnout - neverending story

I wouldn't say your tactic is bad, if it works for you then it's a good one. Reaper6 -

10km? I salute you :worthy: I've never had one go past 8.9km, but I'm also always in the mud. Reaper6 -

Laser cycle out/burnout - neverending story
Reaper6 replied to silenthunter183's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
All the above, mainly it continues to provide power to your K041(which your batteries/APU alone will not provide) AP, INU, etc. Also you may want to try: 1) If possible launch all your Vikhrs first, then move to guns and rockets(even after laser burnout, you are still able to range targets). 2) Lock your target first then turn laser on and lock again when you are ready to fire Vikhr. 3) Turn your laser off immediatley after Vikhr has impacted target(your laser will continue to fire for a few seconds after your Vikhr has hit the target). 4) Shoot your Vikhrs as close as possible to the target as you are able. These should save you valuable seconds of your laser burnout time(300 seconds total IIRC). Reaper6 -
Laser cycle out/burnout - neverending story
Reaper6 replied to silenthunter183's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I use to land on my front wheel just hard enough to damage it. Then you can repair, and it will also repair the laser. Also before shutting down engines, request ground power(if available). Only use your left/right engine cutoffs to shutdown your engines, the rest of your systems remain intact with ground power on. Reaper6 -
Is anyone else having problems with DCS log in? It says I have no internet connection, although my internet is fine. Reaper6

Great work! I can't wait to blow this thing out of the sky with my Ka50 :) Reaper6

I don't have steam, but you can add me on here. Reaper6

You will have to edit the lua files for the specific instrument, and then drop them into the .miz file. Reaper6

Absolutley, Im usually always flying. Reaper6

ABRIS Menu Page --> GNSS --> Check GPS/GLONASS coverage, Last Fix, and SV Track(Should be at least 8 or 9). Through here you can also access GPS/GLONASS coverage(Now or in the future) at any Airdrome on ABRIS(ABRIS Menu Page --> GNSS --> CALC --> Enter Airdrome(In the flashing Box)/Enter ETA(Also in a flashing box). You are also able to run a System test ABRIS Menu --> GNSS --> SYST --> TEST You can also Run Built in Sensor test ABRIS Menu --> GNSS --> SYST --> SETUP --> (scroll to) BUILT --> Select Save & Test Also Look at the top center of the Menu page, You will have one of the following displayed to help sort the root of the problem: 3D = 3D navigation supplied by onboard sensor EXCL 3D = 3D navigation with one satellite in constellation turned off manually PDOP 3D = Position precision dilution HDOP 3D = Bad geometric factor RAIM 3D = Loss of data integrity provided to the GNSS receiver 2D = ABRIS is only providing 2D navigation ADSB 3D = 3D navigation based on data transponder ADSB = 3D navigation based on data transponder DR = Calculations of aircraft motion parameters in case of the GNSS failure, using the last received data on the ground speed and actual track angle. This mode is used for one minute after the GNSS failure, whereupon the NAV ERROR message is displayed. NAV ERROR = Impossible to determine aircraft coordinates THRESHOLD = If the manually entered RAIM threshold value exceeds the value suitable for the route leg: non-precision approach (0.3 nm), approach (1 nm), otherwise - 1 nm. I'm not familiar with flying those aircraft. But if they are like the rest of the modules minus FC3, they are preset by the Lua files. I set my flare despenser settings in the Ka50 by editing the UV26.lua for example. You might be able to do the same with your aircraft.

I mainly only fly the Ka50, I have been flying it since BS1 first came out. I am also East coast, so you're welcome to fly with me anytime. Reaper6

Any talks on updating the Black Shark?
Reaper6 replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
How exactly is the Vikhr unrealistic? They should not work like a hellfire at all. If anything they work almost like a TOW missle(without the wire of course). They spin because that is what they are designed to do, which Hellfires do not. Certain Hellfires are also Laser guided(much like a LGB), which Vikhrs are beam riding(much more resistant to countermeasures). Vikhrs are also faster with a slightly longer range than Hellfires. Vikhrs are equipped with a "contact" AND "proximity fuse", which is useful for A2A or area targets, which Hellfires do not have. Reaper6 -
I personally have noticed if you are pushing your Shark harder for a longer period of time it damages the blades. So if you were IAS MAX for a long period of time and then ease off you are still in danger of blade failure when making a normal manuever. I have also noticed, if you have your engines maxed out, eventually they will fail or catch fire. Reaper6

Any talks on updating the Black Shark?
Reaper6 replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Don't change a thing, The Shark is perfect :) Reaper6 -
You're too far from the target, IIRC max laser distance is 15km. Useful for DL target areas. In order to Lock a target you must be within 9km, sometimes less depending on weather conditions and/or size of the target. GMT mode is only used to calculate the movement of the weapons systems themselves. ie, GMT will calculate how far ahead of a moving target your gun or any other weapon should initialy be fired in order to strike the target. ZU-23 Closed is basically the ZU-23 in a bunker of sandbags. Use your helmet mounted site to get your Shkval in the general direction. Make your small adjustments in whatever you use to slew your Shkval on your HOTAS. Turn your laser on, Turn On Target on, and Lock target. HE rounds will self destruct at 4km, AP rounds are only effective out to 2km(On hardened targets). You can kill a ZU-23 of any type with HE, once you hit the target and it begins to smoke, you have basically destroyed it, and it will stop firing. Just wait a few seconds and it will explode. Hope this helps Reaper6 And yes I would also like the clouds to be removed on ABRIS, If your not getting clouds or fog on yours you are probably flying during clear skies. At night in adverse weather this really hinders the Ka50.
