Honestly I forget with Aerobraking and wheel brakes forget you can extend the speed brakes even more to help slow down Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
You could do it but I don’t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It works yesterday I landed on RWY 4 in Beirut (7445 x 145) not using the displaced threshold 10 or 11 AOA gives a little better flight control response on approach I used to fly at 13 AOA but right now any reduction in throttle exceeds AOA and unstabilizes me Like a former viper instructor once said you can extend the speedbrakes beyond 43 The catch is three point attitude and extend the speedbrakes not automatic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I could land safely with Aerobraking at Beirut’s 16 runway (10525 x 145) Goal is landing safely at Ramat David without hitting something expensive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Funny story Spang is on a German Cliff A Viper got too low and took out the approach lights The pilot was fine but not the approach lights Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Basically is there anything else I’m missing to watch out for on landing and rollout in the F-16 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
9000 foot runway, fuel load critical, AOA control, and 2.5 deg or better, Aerobrake What em I missing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Spangdahlem had block 50’s I know SEAD birds Can’t remember which are 50CM units Maybe not default but Users painted them like 555th and 510th birds Helpful tip the Italian signs that say Aviano is not the base but the mountain town I saw the HAS as I was driving away Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
I could see the big light in back of the boat Sometimes I don’t see the landing area on Supercarrier till it’s on top of me I wish you could see the landing area sooner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
To all you former Hornet drivers What else do you dim to see lineup I turn down the HUD brightness so I can gauge my lineup Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Don’t want to stir a Wasps Nest Just curious if you can do it Not seeing the guys in a Marshal Stack at night bad I just don’t want to do something in the Hornet that’s unreal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Like gripes you critique yourself if it’s bad you know it The USAF said to me if it looks bad suck up your pride and take the bird around and try again Sometimes I hit F2 to see what wire I caught It should come to you as a surprise you caught something and the ball is always right Happy Flying Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
To me it’s very colorful from reading a 1 wire is no grade you almost hit the boat 2 thru 4 they’ll give you a grade 3 is optimum 4 you almost landed long and almost missed Looks like 3 is the best This carrier thing is hard Found new found respect for USN and USMC pilots that do this as part of their job Hats off to you Give me a 7000 foot runway any day At least the runway doesn’t move Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
What does Paddles say to you when you trap on a boat? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Gripes is right wish their was an option to see it or not I wish Eagle dynamics had a Greenie Board to see what the LSOs graded your landing as and you can select a particular landing to see the comments A guy could dream Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
I suck at it Could catch a 3 or 4 wire but the LSO let’s me have it It hurts your feelings but you become a better DCS pilot because of it I can’t disable but sometimes the truth hurts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
That is the beauty of on speed AOA You know what is the maximum landing weight to recover safely and you use AOA instead If you do it right it’s a thing of beauty plus the Hornet could easily do it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Cool so you can update or reject the update you selected Back in the early two thousands the GPS over rides the Kalman Filter automatically telling the B-1 where it is and refining the navigation solution The viper and the Eagle have something similar starts with an e basically the ins is helped with the GPS for optimum navigation solution Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Navy and Marine guys and gals make landing on the boat look easy I manage to catch a 3 or 4 wire but the LSO is not too happy afterwards Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Cool curious that’s all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
If you could see the boat could you do a case I recovery at night or the USN directs you to a case III to ensure there is no option Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Sorry in other words the GPS updates the navigation solution and there is no need to update Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Was looking at the Navigation Page what does UPDT do in the module? In the B-1B we used to refine the Navigation solution via Offset Aim Points Similar Concept or the GPS beats the NAV Solution to submission I think the viper and Eagle do that does the Hornet do that too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m doing that but unconsciously but that is an important concept I stopped being an instructor when I read high speed boom behind a 135 at night and 12 inches away and my student was crying There’s no crying while flying I’m not gonna fail you just look at me for a plug and just hang on for 1 second She hung on for 10 minutes she relaxed and got the job done I was so proud She needed that release to be a better pilot after that she was rock solid Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
There was a piece I kept overlooking but vitally important Thanks It is set yourself up for the perfect AOA attitude and use your throttle to hold it Be careful of the engine spool up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
That explains a lot It makes sense when Chuck’s guide and the early access say don’t fight the FBW Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So I’m fighting the FBW but I don’t know it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
