Sim-mod screen (updated airbases for BS)
Aeroscout replied to Kusch's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Will this mean that the terrain and airbase mods will be separate from one another? -

well, getting v1.1 (flaming cliffs) wouldn't hurt... it's only $20 or so. -
DAMN! thats awesome! Working on 2 models at once must be crazy!

If GA likes it, it's REALLY good. Nice video! What editor did you use and how'd you do the effects?

this is exactly my set up and I have this exact same problem. If you get it sorted out, PLEASE tell me about it.

Racer and Virtualnavairops F-14D model.
Aeroscout replied to Sabertooth's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Nice Sir_trooper. Just an idea. I know that what ever we do to lock on, we cannot model the wing sweep on the F-14 the way we would like it to be. However, we can do put the flap animation on the wing sweep (as mentioned) and, as sir trooper mentioned, the slats can also be an animation. My idea combines these two. The wings are swept back when flaps are up, swept half way forward when flaps are down, and all the way forward when flaps and slats are down. This gives moving wings, control over their sweep, and somewhat realistic procedures (It's not perfect, but if you have a better idea, share it) just my 2 cents. -
It's interesting you mention this as this is my whole idea behind lockon. Lockon has it where it counts. lockon is a combat simulator, thus it will simulate combat. I don't need all the complexities of actually flying the plane EXACTLY as if i was actually there, and unless i actually have a fully functional cockpit with a huge screen all around me, i don;t want to because i have to fumble with a mouse (which is unrealistic to a point). As long as everything is represented (as it is in lockon) i'm happy. I'm thinking this is what makes lockon so great. It doesn't have all the complexities, which only the extremely devoted have time for, yet it's still VERY realistic and, like i said, it has it where it counts, thus it draws a very large audience. Just my 2 cents.

This is exactly what I feel like online. I keep thinking "don't hit that chaff button, don't fly low, don't barrel roll, don't fire too many missiles etc etc" and before long, I forget completely about that missile tracking me and I'm blown out of the sky!

Question about 20m flying... is this over land too or just water... And I hope you don't mean terrain masking is an exploit. I fly behind mountains all the time online and I hope that's not "cheating"

I haven't updated much recently... I don't have many pics at the moment, but I have begun work on the MFDs. I bought many switches form www.allelectronics.com (very cheep) and am figuring out how to attach them. The push buttons for the MFDs were actually the perfect size and were 15cents a piece! It doesn't get much better than that! so i was able to do all 60 MFD buttons) The hard part is cutting out every button hole in each MFD (that's 60 1/2 inch holes with only basic power tools hear at my home!) It's comming along nicely, but again, it's not going to be perfectly accurate. (not even close really, considering the standards of your Ka-50 pits and Blaze's F/A-18 pit)

That's the culprit, Exact same thing happened to me. (I began to call it the vista missile that you can't evade) Unfortunately, that's vista, and your going to have to live through it. If you really can't stand it, get XP, but I know many people are reluctant to do this, and for good reason. (I did, but I had to transfer everything and it was a pain)
-
Soooooo... give you're self administrator privileges. Right click on the lockon icon, hit properties, go to the compatibility tab and check "run as admin." Of course...... If you want to solve ALL vista/lockon problems, see my sig.;)

Same here. I tried everything with both FireFox and crappy IE.

104th Dedicated: Operation Blue Tide!
Aeroscout replied to PoleCat's topic in User Created Missions General
Just something I noticed... (not just your server, but other servers too) From what I've noticed, the Su-27 and the F-15C are the most popular fighters in lockon 9for a good reason), and both these fighters are only on the blue side. Everytime I log on to your server, (which is quite often, as its my favorite) I discover some serious team stacking (favoring blue of course). I, trying to be as fair as possible, usually join red to try to balance out the teams. Of course, to do this, I must sacrifice my beloved flanker and chose the MiG-29S (which isn't horrible, as it has Active R-77s, but the Eagles also have actives) I know making the teams like this helps the F-15 pilots with IFF, but at the same time results in team stacking and limiting pilots to certain aircraft. Maybe you could Put the Su-27 and F-15 on different sides or just put both on both sides. It's just a suggestion. I will still play on your server if nothing is done. it's a wonderful server, everyone on TS is very nice. Very enjoyable. Keep it up. -
Umm... it's Dire Straits "on Every Street" I cut and pieced it together so as to avoid the lyrics, but I really liked the song and it fit nicely. Sharp scenery? I'm just using the stock terrain for this one... but the runways were grandsurf's mod. I just copied them out of the CDDS file and put them in the temp texture folder so that I could have them in all seasons. The other mods include almost all of TekaTeka's mods, a highres Su-27 skin, walmis's F-15C model and Mizziy's MiG-29 Skins. I also had my River mod in there, but I don't think there were any shots of it. These are all great mods and don't take a really fast computer to run. Thanks for all the nice comments... it was kinda hit or miss with this video.

Seeing as stage6 is now gone, heres the high res version for download. http://rapidshare.com/files/94908321/LockonSunset.zip.html It's a shame about stage6. :(

AIM-7 Going Active After Lock!....?
Aeroscout replied to cool_t's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If i'm not mistaken, if the bandit has music on the entire time, the AIM-7 can guide it's self the entire way. However, if the bandit turns off ECM, then the AIM-7 losses everything. -

If you can't get a free replacement, keep the throttle and get a CH stick. -
This is my most recent film, I finished it yesterday. It's short, only about 3 minutes long, but I hope it has a powerful message. What I wanted to get across was that we have a beautiful sim. I always liked the sunsets in lockon, so I tried to capture this in my movie. When many of us play online, we tend to forget what lockon really is. People complain about ECM strobing, and chaff dumping and missile spamming, and how this can be more realistic and that can be more realistic and yada yada. However, maybe we should take a step back and realize that, frankly, lockon is beautiful. What we have is not an arcade game, but an honest to god sim. Granted, it's not as realistic as F4, but it's all there, and if it's not the exact procedure used in real life, it's at least represented. Does realism equal fun? Do you look at a game and say "it's not realistic, so it can't be fun."? I don't. Maybe we all should think about this when we fire the sim up. I truly hope this community stays strong until a fighter is released for DCS, and maybe even after this. There is no other fast mover sim that comes close to lockon in terms of graphical detail, realism and community support. Lockon is beautiful. This appeared to be a theme a few months ago, and it's still true. Lets keep lockon going for many more years to come. It will be a sad day indeed when we log on to HL and no one is there. Any way, here's the movie. I had difficulty uploading to Stage6. I'll add the hi-res version once I get it straightened out.
