OT: Squads... Age discrimination?
Aeroscout replied to Aeroscout's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks guys, but this isn't just about me... It's about anyone my age. I'm beginning to think a squad is not for me... thanks very much for your input. I just wish online play on Hyperlobby was a bit more structured. Thanks very much... And that was quite funny Viper:D -
LMAO!!!!!!

Umm, I think the title says it all... I have been considering joining a new squad for a while after the 70th Blue lions vanished... when I discovered that many of the squads, especially those I was keen on possibly joining, had the "pilots must be 18 or older" requirement. I know this is a community of mostly adults, and adults are much more mature than the majority of us, but still, I think that should be determined in the intro flight. I also know there are lots of people here my age who may wish to join squads. Now, all of a sudden, I realized we cannot! I know some of us "lids" can get a bad rap and what now, but does age really determine maturity, especially those willing to undertake the commitment of being a squad member? :( I know the purpose of this is to keep those who are not committed and stuff out of the squad, but i don't really believe age reflects this entirely... I have flown Lockon for nearly 2 years, and have flown online for more than one year. I have spent lost of time and money on this sim, I believe I'm quite dedicated. (same goes for other's my age) This post really serves no purpose, but I just thought I'd post it to let other's know and to express some frustration... 169th: 18 or older 104th: 18 or older 77th: unknown (dead link I think...) 159th: 17 or older 504th: unknown (due to site difficulties I suppose) These were the squads I know off hand, and I checked them. The 3 I could find specific recruitment info on all had age requirements.

It all started with Flanker 2.5 for me...

Helicopter dance... I like it!

Awesome idea, but I might just leave the bolt as is. I don't know what the Ka-50 pedals are like, but I know some are just a simple bar like that.
-
Really? I've never had this problem...

delete the TrackIR file in the "input" folder.

Read my sig... Seriously, accept the fact that vista is a new OS and thus it's going to have issues. If you want to play the game, go get XP. Dual boot the thing if you want, but XP is the way to go if you want to play lockon. I have no doubt that vista, or the next Microsoft OS is the future, but it's not the best thing NOW. If you want to play this game NOW then get XP.

Umm... your entire post Really? you didn't say that at first... Many other people have said worse, your lucky I'm being nice... Dude, you could at least complement him on the nice model.
-
Hey v1per, maybe you might want to mention all the good things about it? Or is there nothing good about it? Personally, I am impressed with the model. I cannot model 3D and I respect anyone who tries and creates a model for the community. I however, do not have respect for those who dis other peoples' hard work. I didn't see anyone criticizing your F-14 like you do this F-14? I think you need to cool it... and get a life. there's more to aviation and combat than just the F-14. Excellent model RICK!!! I cannot wait to see the final model!

don't extract the .zip or .rar file, just leave it was is. mod installer=addon manager, sorry i didn't say the correct one. Don't know what you mean by fc folder and put addons in it. Just open the zip/rar files in mod manager.
-
In addon manager, click add, navigate tot he zip file, and click open. It will be added to the list. Then, select the mod you wish to install in that list and click install on the right. It will be green when installed. yes, it's a bit discouraging at first, but really simple and easy once you get used to it.

Ok, sorry... maybe i did miss something

Umm... don't get a USB one, get one that has the generic pink mic jack. This way, you won't waste a USB port that you could use for something else.

Ok, thanks, I'll check them out! $40 sounds great! EDIT: Someone's going to have to explain all this to me, as I'm hopelessly confused as to how to make it work, but I'll definitively have to do this.

Like razorback's pit, mine will not be functional. While I may try to make some buttons work, this will only be a select few using the command pad on my saitek gamer's keyboard. Other switches my just turn on lights inside the cockpit. (Makes it look cool!) If anyone knows an inexpensive, simple way to make buttons actually function, I'd love to know about it, but I can live with an "unfunctional" cockpit.

Love it love it love it! Just one thing... The Rivers aren't that great, they just look like giant rifts or scars in the ground. add something to make them look more like they actually have water in them. Also the grass on the edge of the runway and the rest of the grass doesn't match very well... Those are my only complaints. I hope you just take them as constructive criticism. Awesome mod guys. Can't wait for the final release! I'm holding off a movie on this mod!

Can you make the stick execute a keystroke when you enter a mode? I want it to enter mode 2, but at the same time, execute the "2" button to enter BVR mode. The same for mode 3 with the 7 key. Can this be done while still assigning separate keystrokes to each button for each mode? Thanks...

Well, I can relate to this, I'm just 15, but I'm allowed to buy what ever I want, so long as it's my money. (Birthday/Christmas money always helps) So I am careful to spend it on stuff I'll use very often... my computer! :D

Very nice. As for me, I've started off with my seat. I decided not to go for absolute realism when building mine as i might drive myself mad, so I used an old wooden chair. The old cushions are gone, so I'm using 2 crap cushions and a blanket. (i'm going to be making my own cushions later.) I screwed in a joy stand to the front of the chair, and then made the left an right consoles for my mouse pad and throttle. It's then that I realized that the chair was not nearly as small as an F/A-18 ejection seat and thus the throttle and mouse would be uncomfortable to use as they were too far away. So I'm now going to have to re build the left and right consoles. Some pics: Cardboard mock up for panel Uber book of fighter planes (those are paper MFDs I printed out) Joystick stand Crap chair with side panels that make it look a bit more like an ejection seat. My little helper (she gets in the way sometimes...) Side console Side console with stuff on it (that's an old crap keyboard) More to come, especially because I'm going to be changing a few things. Doesn't look like much now, but it will get better.
