  1. Update, got some flight time. Not sure what the deal is. Connected on TWC and got into multiplayer today on iFoxRomeo and another server as well. Still can't get into 104th. Over'n'out.
  2. Confirmed Just tried the same, and multiplayer loads in permanent pause. TWC clearly has an additional firewall working. So, how to get around, hmmm. Perhaps a VPN service? The multiplayer portal works fine, showing the available servers online, in fact the game loads up and then you can't see any players, and when you select an aircraft, then you appear frozen flying in the sky. Kinda weird, but playing from another hotspot, no issue. So probably we need to call TWC and have them open the appropriate port on their nationwide network :music_whistling:
  3. Oh Nice, Here's a fresh Thank You thread. I'll just put this here. Super Excellent congratulations to the Eagle Dynamics crew, and third party devs on DCS 2 and the Nevada map! I didn't expect to be playing this on the first day, but I couldn't let you guys think I'm a worthless good for nothing web designer, who can't even afford a $40 map! So I bought it, and I love you all. Thanks for all your hard work, and making my life worth living! I can't imagine a better 2015 Holiday surprise. I'll see you at the tourney in my Sabre! Love you ED! -Dr. Jones.
  4. Verify if this works. I can't get this working on Openbeta, though I was able to get the AI able to take off and land from carrier, I can't seem to snag this invisible hook on the wire. Anyone else able to verify if this still works? Thanks!
  5. Update, previous settings area disabled. With the last update it appears the entire section of setting related to our previous tweak has been disabled. New post in hoggit this morning, about DOF being a frame killer. Oh, and some new clouds on the horizon, unrelated.
  6. One registration for Dr. Jones, ty! 7. Ditto Yup, happens to me too!
  8. Thank you Mustang! You're a genius, how did you figure that out? NM, I don't need know. May the force be with you.
  9. Just wanted to mention. A lot of what people are experiencing is related to Windows 7 Aero features, specifically desktop composition mode. That's what you are basically turning off when you LAlt + Enter. With desktop composition mode OFF (Advanced Performance Settings in Computer Properties) you should notice smoother play, however screen tearing will ensue. With it ON, you will have some input lag, especially if you turn your trackIR while flying by complex scenes. In a flight sim, I would almost suffer the tearing for continuity of FPS. With Desktop Composition mode enabled, Windows itself forces vsync, so tough to say if GPU managed vsync is taking affect. Good luck!
  10. Yes! The new 1.5 Engine is hands down amazing, and the performance increase is on the magnitude of 10-20 fps increase in most areas. Naturally this is going to flush out some new bottlenecks for everyone as they squeeze more out of their systems. Now, what I have realized is that Aero mode, and specifically Desktop Composition Mode, within your advance performance settings in Windows 7, FORCES V-sync. If you turn it off, you will get cockpit tearing as you look side to side with GhettoIR, or other headtracking. So, just to review. Ultra smooth flight is available if you turn off Desktop Composition Mode, but it introduces tearing in the cockpit. If you choose to keep it enabled, V-sync will introduce some stuttering as it tries to keep the cockpit from tearing. This will be more intense the more objects that get rendered. I haven't seen anything about this on ED forums, yet, and of course a lot of people complaining about tears and stuttering, but it appears to me, we don't have too many options here. Maybe this will change if you get your system specs up a bit, and cap the framerate to the monitor refresh rate. Any who, just thought I would leave this here for the detectives and clue hunters.
  11. You are the man! Thank you. That polished skin, just hit the spot for me. Just about the most awesome thing I've ever seen in a video game ever. Granted it's flying in the most awesome environment I've ever seen. Something about a polished F-86, just makes me want to make fan movies. Maybe I will, so thank you for putting up these skins, and anyone who doesn't have them, good! More for me!
  12. This worked for my setup! Edited out bunk solution.
  13. Indeed this seems to be at least a minor issue. Copy what they others are saying I think. I have 3 different resolutions working with 1screen.lua Need to get the GUI on just the center monitor. Many screens stretched a bit too large. Game plays like a F'ing champ though. Thanks for all the hard work ED.
  14. Thank You Eagle Dynamics Team From the bottom of my joy factory, my sincerest thank you!
  15. DSR 4 REAL Hey, got a nice boost by playing around with the DSR as suggested. Enhanced anti-aliasing at 2x, and then any of the DSR settings seem to be good. Not sure I understand it, but hey I've got a nice smooth setup, and decent fps at a huge resolution. The future is now. EDGE this year 2015, or bust.
  16. Thank you! I must have tried two dozen times to figure this out. F-86 brake sensitivity set to your recommendations, and bingo! For whatever reason, you can barely tell you are braking, but you setting was just what I was looking for. I have it bound to my y-axis with a modifier. Your settings worked great. I used for the main bind, instead of left and right, and perfecto! Thanks for taking the time to post.
  17. I think there's a way. I actually had this working just fine the other day, and I'm not exactly sure now, why I can't get it working again. Suppose I could be hallucinating or and off chance quirk, but I'm pretty sure I remember being like: "Oh this is awesome!" Now, I can't figure it out, hence I landed here.
  18. I can't get SweetFX to work Looks like it uses the same dll. I tried to copy the d3d9.dll into the sweetfx folder, still doesn't take. Found something about 64 bit vs 32 bit. Seesh. I'm not sure. Anyone else have any difficulties like this? I'm not sure which I would rather have a working bezel compensation or sweetFX. Regardless this little SoftTH config tool works great!
  19. So much fun, and challenging. Wow! This is tough! Great mission.
  20. Nvidia Graphics Settings for DCS Here are the screen caps of some settings working well for me, you can use these as a starting point for your work! http://imgur.com/a/GWEOe
  21. Caught up in Aweseome Try to remove all control from NVidia and give it to DCS, as a general rule, implement 'use application settings.' Next, for NVidia I was pleasantly surprised by the 8Q Anti-aliasing. Give it a shot and see what you think. You work hard to have a nice setup, so an extra frame burst here or there is just what the doctor ordered. I don't know about the other settings in this thread, but I found my frames. They say you can't manage what you don't measure, so think about it. I'm not saying to become so fanatical that you can't even enjoy the game, even I eventually turn the FPS counter off, ONCE I'M SURE I'M getting the best bang for my buck. You never know what kind of quirky setting in this game is gonna boost you up, and once your smooth as the other user said, then you can enjoy! Just like with any science you need a reliable control. So...probably setup a saved mission, where you can verify the various conditions are going to be the same every time you test. This is advice I haven't implemented yet, but I should because it makes sense. Next, do what I said above. Give as much control to the DCS applications settings as you can, and don't use your GPU settings when applicable. I chose performance based settings where applicable. Next modify one thing at a time and then check the FPS, and maybe even write it down, if you really want to know. This is called tuning. Yes tuning is VERY important. If you do it right then you only have to do it once in a while, and you can be assured you have a reliable configuration for the most optimized experience. I have resolution at 3200x1080 at an absolutely stunning 30fps cockpit view mostly. I would keep vertical sync off. Leave in cockpit displays low. The rest is high, + blur, +cockpit shadows. Not sure about TSAA yet, but I think no. skip tree shadows. Maybe I will take a look at creating a little better information for this, after I finish up these icons I'm working on for the flyables mod I'm helping out with.
  22. Okay, I failed. It's 4:47am, I've gotta get a couple hours rest. I'm not sure why I couldn't get it working. If I turn off the Helios from the Control Center I can see my MFD positioned correctly. It's a shykval in this case for the Su-25T. If I turn it back I see the instruments, which are clickable, yet do not show the proper readings. Also the grey background shows where the shkval should show, and every way I tried to make that transparent wasn't happening. The most recent export is in the proper folder under my windows user, and I need HELP please. Thanks!
  23. TwomonUSB So, I thought I might give helios a go, now that I figured out how to get my iPad working as an third monitor. Got pretty far too! I can see the profile on my iPad, but the gauges aren't responding to the flight. I had a bunch of trouble getting this not-working, by now I'm trying with the most recent profile I could find which is Capt_Zeen Su-25T. Also looking to the beginning of this thread for the two .lua files export and HELIOS to make this work by putting in the /user/saved_games/DCS/Scripts/ folder. Just getting pretty frustrated I've been working on this for about 6 hours, I'm sure we've all been there. Running an update now, looks like something new from ED, about 500Mb, so will load that, and give this one more try.
  24. Mitch Hi Mitch! It's me again. Second thread about the ipadpit, featuring you, asking about the .lua file. Well, I take it you figured out that the old mapping file is not longer supported for ...load profile. So... we just have to remap! One way that was a little success for me was to open the lua file that came with ipadpit 2.02 and then just look for the commands. Enter them into the control options by hand, and since the touchcontrol is already mapped. You only have to change that one thing.
  25. Bump that. I'd like to also put in my vote for a remapped .diff.lua for ipadpit purposes. Has this project really been dormant since 2012? This is a good product IMO, and of course I just spent $10 to get it kind of working only to figure out what this fellow above me already knows. The lua file that comes with ipadpit 2.02 is based off some old method of scripting key binding files. I volunteer to map it if we can't get some help here! Also, help me get a realtime MFD, w/o having it visible on my main views, because what would be the point of having it twice. Tell you what! I'm really interested in having some real-time flight controls on my iPad. I found a game with a radar, that was all retro, and it looks neatO in my cockpit even if it don't do shit! Anyway, I've probably lost you all now. Maybe iPad best relegated to a kneepad.
