What do you mean? The Maverick sight will ofc be fully functional upon release.

Well since the Viggen we are getting is the AJ/AJS 37 which is a Strike aircraft it really should be better then the Mirage 2000C (fighter) ^^. The AJS 37 is optimised for the Strike and Anti-ship roles so it should be pretty decent at it ^^. And while it does not have the carry capacity of things like the A-10 or Su-25 it instead has Speed and Agility So you will be able to get in and out before the enemy knows you are there =) and if you are spotted you will actually have the chance to run away by simply getting on the deck and going full afterburner.

There is already a thread on the topic so hopefully i can help answer you questions. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177993

AJS-37 Viggen livery wishes and discussions
mattebubben replied to CHSubZero's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Im pretty sure he is talking about when the Finns where Contemplating Getting the Gripen instead of the F-18C (in the 90s when the Gripen was brand new and not the current competition of getting the Gripen E as a Replacement for the Hornet). So the Meteor was not yet an option (as it have just now entered full service). So at that time frame the Aim-120 would have been one of the best choices for Active Air-Air Missiles. Though i suppose they might have been able to acquire some other Active radar guided missile like the Mica or Derby instead. But then again the Finns have not been all too happy with the Aim-120s atleast not the Aim-120C as there has been some trouble with their Rocket engines in the cold climate. -

Im actually pretty sure the Viggen (AJ 37) was considered and it was one of the aircraft tested in the competition during the early 1970s where the F-5E was selected. I think the 1974 competition where the F-5E was chosen had the F-5E,Viggen,F-4 Phantom and Mirage F1 as the Contestants. My guess would be that the biggest advantages for the F-5E was its low pricetag and easy / cheap maintenance allowing for a larger number of aircraft for the same price. And during the Competition in 1974 only the AJ 37 would have been available for testing as the JA 37 was in early development at that time. But i agree that one would think the Viggen would have been a perfect fit for the Swiss airforce with its Short start / landing ability, Road base ability and folding rudder should have let it fit in existing underground shelters (where as they had to rebuild many underground shelters for the F-18 when it entered service). But like the other alternatives the Viggen would likely have been more expensive to operate then the F-5E was and the Viggen was also a more complex aircraft (Though the Viggen was very Reliable and was very easy to maintain as it was designed to be serviced primarily by Conscripts as was the Swedish System). Ive always Thought it a shame that no other nation acquired the Viggen as it was a very capable and well designed aircraft for its time (as well as being so sexy ^^). -

Well there were several Export attempts =P i thought it was external Politics rather then internal ones that gave it troubles =P. (Like the Deal with India that US blocked by not giving export permissions on some of the US designed systems / components used by the Viggen). Politics often play a Massive part when it comes to aircraft deals so its usually easier for powerful nations like USA,France and Russia to export aircraft (Especially to nations within their Sphere of influence) and Sweden does not have the same political power. In some cases it could be a + being a Neutral nation (Deals with Austria for the J29,J35 and Saab 105 etc) but in general it made nation less likely to buy the Swedish Option since it could not provide the Political advantage / security as buying from the US or Russia. -
Ok thanks. Figured out how to use the Chat commands now so its all good =).

Am i the only one having the problem with the F-10 Comms option being unavailable in most modules (only seems to work in the FC-3 aircraft). Or is it a general problem?
-
And i find it Fitting that the Pre-Order and Release dates are also leaked instead of officially announced since that is how we got confirmation on the Viggen to start with xD.
-
Well while i would hope for a release before the 27th of January a release that date would be a very very nice Birthday gift for me ^^. So if i cant have the Viggen for Christmas i can atleast have it on my Birthday.

Here is a Fictional Danish Skin for the AJ 37. And Denmark was one of the nations the Saab 37E Eurofighter project was marketed towards (Export variant of the Viggen that competed with the F-16 for the replacement of the F-104 for Belgium,Denmark,The Netherlands and Norway) So its one of the more Plausible fictional skins. -
Amongst those 3 i would go Su-7B first as we need more Russian fighter bombers and its an interesting aircraft though i would much prefer a member of the Su-17/20/22 family. Second would be the F-104 as it would be an aircraft that will have to be added to the game sooner or later but we are a bit starved of Russian aircraft atm =P.

Its not that somebody else is already making it.

Dang =( bad news indeed. Would this be the case for any/all Mig-23 variants (Even an older Mig-23M/MF or the Air-Ground variants like the Mig-23BN or Mig-27) or just the more modern Mig-23ML/MLA or MLD?
-
you only get a tone from the Magic II when its seeker locks on a target. And did you remember to activate the Cannon arm switch (as well as the master arm).
-
Then i would suggest that either the Wiki is wrong or they are looking at different states. Since i find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that the MIG-23MLD is 3 tonnes heavier considering the limited number of changes done to the airframe. And since most Mig-23MLDs (all of the soviet ones) where upgraded from Mig-23ML/MLA standard i doubt they would add 3 tonnes of weight during the upgrade... (since i doubt any changes done to the airframe could justify that weight increase and also make it more agile etc. I would be surprised if the Mig-23MLD was significantly heavier then the ML/MLA (a few hundred KG at most).

Now im just waiting for a Video Showcasing the use of the RB 75 and the EP-13 (Maverick sight) =).

Viggen documentation (flight manuals, etc)
mattebubben replied to renhanxue's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Are they not using a later version of it now though?. Based on the RBS 15 MK II or MK III? -
Well im not sure if the R-13M and R-13M1 are worse then they should be. Or if its simply that the R-3S is over performing to a significant degree, or a mix of the two. Since i feel the R-3S is very much better then it should be (It should be comparable to the Aim-9B where as in its current game-state its more comparable to the Aim-9P where as the Aim-9P should be significantly better then the R-3S in every way)

We want Viggen Videos . -
Well R-60M and R-24R/R-24T are pretty certain. It will probably also include the standard R60 and maybe some K-13 variant (or variants) as well. Dont know if its backwards compatible to the R-23R/T or if they might be included. Some have also Speculated that the R-73 might be a possibility. And For air-ground we should also expect to get Dumb Bombs and rocket pods (Should have both the S-5 Rockets and S-8 Rocket pods) We will probably have to wait to know exactly what but my bet would be something like this. R-60/R-60M and R-24R/T with maybe some K13s included aswell (Maybe a R-3S and a R13M) And for Air-Ground the Rockets and Bombs. with R-73 and R-23s being something we will have to wait and see about.
-
the Air-Ground Radar for the Viggen is completely Internally developed from Leatherneck. So Razbam has no access to it and are waiting for ED to finish theirs and make it available for 3rd party Devs.
-
Razbam already has the A-7 in development (its currently for ED to finish their Air-Ground Radar Codes etc before development will be continued)

U-95 + U-22 Pods and jammers in general in game and IRL
mattebubben replied to Ice_Cougar's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
And does it also have the Ability to detect Launches like the KA?. And in addition would the jammer pods only detect launches against the aircraft carrying the Pod or would it also be able to detect a launch towards other aircraft if one was flying in close formation?.
