  1. Thats what FC-3 aircraft tend to do especially what they did in the past and since the Mig-29 has not yet been updated (PFM + new damgemodel etc) im guessing its still the case. So touching the ground with the fuselage or wings (belly up/crash landing etc) might just end up exploding your aircraft instead of it breaking up in a more realistic manner (even at low speeds and a very shallow angle gently touching the ground often causes the aircraft to explode). This is less common with some aircraft then others and is less common today then it has been earlier (at least from my own experiences)
  2. I would probably also have Preferred a Mirage IIIE, It would be more formidable (more advanced systems/weapons) it was more common and had more users and would be a better match for other aircraft like the Mig-21Bis and F-5E then the earlier Mirage IIICJ is. But then again those Mirage III systems would make it harder to make (especially the air-ground modes of the radar) so it would very likely take longer to develop (as it has some more complexities).
  3. So the AN/ALR-46 on the F-5E is not capable of monitoring Search and Lock/launch at the same time where as the AN/ALR-69 is? (since the Displays are the same so the problem cant be there) Or is the AN/ALR-46 of the F-5E supposed be able to do both at the same time (like the A-10s ingame can).
  4. I agree, The F-20 is an interesting aircraft that i like. But there are allot of aircraft that should be added first (those who add to the game and help to fill out historical rosters to help with existing scenarios). And more eastern aircraft are currently the most important when it comes to helping out possible scenarios since the eastern side is currently lacking aircraft. Personally i would love either some fast russian strike aircraft (Su-17/22 or Mig-27) and some fighters like the Mig-23 as well as possibly some Chinese aircraft since there are multiple interesting russian Fighters and Strike aircraft that would fit nicely into the game (J-7,J-8,JH-7 Q/A-5). So some day in the future i would love to see a F-20 but there are allot of things that deserve to be added first.
  5. Yea i think you guys are right. After flying a bit more the smoke does seem to be less (even though there is still smoke its just less "smokey").
  6. The 23rd is a Friday ^^ so just in time for Christmas.
  7. Saying that the F-5 was never that popular is an interesting view... Considering it is a very popular and successful aircraft, With a large number of nations (30+ nations including many Nato nations) having operated it and it was most certainly not just for small or poor countries... And just because we get a certain result in DCS at this moment does not mean that is comparable to real life results (since the real life statements we have give a different result) especially since the F-5E is so new in DCS, So there could be many reasons why we are getting the results we are in DCS... Pilots might not be comfortable with it and might not be using in the best way or there might be areas in the Flight model etc (on either the F-5E or Mig-21Bis) that are not 100% like they would be in reality. And saying the F-5E is a worse fighter then the Mig-15 in everything but top speed is a very mistaken statement (and i dont think anybody who has ever flown the F-5A or F-5E in reality would agree with you).
  8. Well early on they had stated that they wanted to do a release quickly after the official announcement of the Viggen. They sated back then that the goal was a release 2-3 weeks after the Announcement / unveiling of the aircraft. Those comments where early this year though so there is nothing official but that is the only things we have to go by. So a Viggen release is still very possible this year.
  9. It also feel like this way of working is a bit strange =P I can understand having the search contacts off by default (to declutter) but not having the Spikes / launch warnings show up while in search feels like a strange design =P. Since the last thing you want to do when you get a missile launch warning sound is to have to go fiddle with the RWR button to figure out where the missile is coming from. I feel like a Spike or Missile warning should overrule everything else (to the point where possibly it would cause the RWR display to leave search mode). But would be interested to know if anybody know if this is how it should work or not for this RWR system. And the F-5E uses the Same RWR display as the A-10A and A-10C, (IP-1310/ALR) and they dont work like this ingame (as far as i know atleast) So what is right and what is wrong? Or do they have the Same Display but they work differently?
  10. Ok thanks that was what i guessed. (as if i remember correctly RWR systems on Fighters did not start to become common until the late 1960s/early 70s when it was realized it was needed due to experience in Vietnam, but that many aircraft got retrofitted at that point so wondered if that might have been the case with the CJ). But i take it from your comment that it was never retrofitted either. This will make it interesting to use but will also put it at a disadvantage to the later Mig-21Bis and F-5E, so will be interesting how it works out i think i can foretell that many people will complain about this fact later on ^^.
  11. As Cofcorpse stated the way the RWR display works has been updated. So if you want search contacts to show up on the display (instead of just hearing the sound) you need to click the Search button or else you will only get the beep when a new contact is found. (Radar Locks and Launches will still show on the Display if you are not in the search mode but i would recommend usually having the Search mode activated though it can be usefull if the situation gets cluttered) So i think that is likely what you have. So try turning on the search mode on the RWR display and see if the beep matches when a new contact appears.
  12. And there are no Warning/caution lights lit?. If not then could it be from the RWR?. As the RWR now has an audio signal for new contacts etc.
  13. Its able to carry Aim-9s (Either a rear aspect Aim-9J/P or all Aspect Aim-9L) all pylons are able to carry the aim-9 but there are two that are dedicated for the task (outer wing pylons)as the rest as usually used for air-ground ordnance. The AJS 37 is primarily a strike aircraft though so while it does have a radar its not optimized for air-air work though it still have basic search functions as well as a rangefinding mode for use with missiles / gunpods. (With the Primary air-air role in the Swedish airforce at the time being handled by the Saab J35 Draken and the JA 37 Fighter Viggen) So the AJS 37 should be capable of defending itself but if there are 4th gen fighters like F-15s and Su-27s around it would be better to focus on the strike task and avoid air-air combat if possible and keep a dogfight against enemy fighters as a last resort (though with a light aircraft one should be able to surprise a F-15 or Su-27 when it comes to agility / Acceleration as the AJS 37 has a Decent instantaneous turn as well as a powerful engine giving good over all performance) and instead use its high Acceleration and top speed to run away from danger while staying low in the terrain. (since at low altitude the AJS 37 is about as fast as Any Fighter in the game) Against older fighters like the Mig-21 or F-5E its pretty even (though the AJS 37 should hold advantages when it comes to aircraft handling as well as missile performance) and against strike/attack aircraft a AJS 37 with an air-air loadout should be lethal enough. the AJS 37 does not have any IFF interrogation systems though (as its not the fighter variant and does not have BVR weapons or needed to be all weather capable in the Air-Air role) so one has to visually ID a target.
  14. What kind of internet connection do you have and how much better would you need for lets say a 50-60 ppl server. (what would be optimal but realistic ^^). Would 100mbps up/down work? On a Fiber Optic connection ofc. Or would you need more? like 500 Mpbs up/down? Or even 1Gbps up/down?
  15. Well most of us (who have seen this thread atleast)dont use the Cycle key (atleast i dont) but rather have one for in (Closing the Speed Brake) and one for out (opening the Speed brake). That way there is only 1 button press to open or close (but different buttons). But one thing that you could do if you want to keep using the Cycle key could maby be clicking it once to return to neutral after its extended or retracted that way the next click will extend or retract it instead of requiring a double click. Or if you have the Warthog Throttle id recommend using the Speed Break button and bind the Speek brake in and Speed Brake out to it.
  16. Ok sorry for being to insistent just wanted to make sure =P. Yea then i dont know what the problem could be =P as it works great for me and many others =P.
  17. Do you do Manual start up off aircraft or autostart?. If manual maby there is something you have missed =P. But you are sure that the light next to the SRZO IFF Coder/Decoder is Lit Green?
  18. I have updated my previous post to match your edited post (and to answer the new Nr.3) And yes i only need a single button push to activate or deactivate the air-break (i use the Speedbreak/Airbreak button on the warthog)
  19. 1.The Radar only helps you in calculating launch distance (can also help you to find the enemy again by following the radar + symbol untill the enemy is in your gunsight again). 2.Again yes if you want range calculations you need the Radar lock, depending on gun sight mode it can assist you with calculating the drop off during turning etc but without the radar lock you wont get a range calculation. 3.When it comes to the DG mode i think the Manual is correct, With the DG gun mode you need to lead yourself, but if you use the A/A2 guns mode and manually lock the target then it should calculate lead to where you simply place the pipper on the target. 4.i use the warthog as well and use the 4-way hat on the back of the throttle as my radar elevation control and it works just fine for me not that sensitive. 5.Ive never felt like i have had to press it multiple times so i dont know.
  20. My IFF works is i have that switch Activated. (and then use the IFF Button to interrogate) And it seems to work if i have the Type 81 IFF switch on or off so to my knowledge only the IFF Coder/discoder needs to be on for it to work (but i usually turn on the Type 81 IFF anyway =P.
  21. Did you remember to turn on the IFF coder/discoder? Without it the IFF interrogation system does not work and can not IFF a target. Its on the right wall panel on the same row as the Switches for the Gun,ASP Optical and the Gun camera (its the switch after the Gun camera). And the light next to the switch will go gree once it is flipped.
  22. That was a mod that was used when the Magic II was bugged and more or less useless. But the Magic II (and the Super 530) have been fixed so there was no longer a need for the mod, And i dont think the mod works anymore after more changes to the module (including more advanced weapon management etc)
  23. Im with you there =P. As someone who flies the Gazelle alot the T-90 is my nemesis... The T-72B and T-90 with there guided missile can outrange me and knows where i am 90% of the time even if im as sneaky as i possibly can. (if i pop up over a mountain ridge 4km away with only the camera and enough clearance for the missiles to guide properly they will have a missile on its way towards me before my missile impacts the first tank 7 times out of 10) It does not help that they can see through trees etc so there is no hiding behind them to do pop up attacks like Gazelle and Bo-105 pilots would have in reality. The T-72B and T-90 are more dangerous to a Gazelle then most AA/Sams are since they are very accurate there is no warning when they are launched and there is no smoke trail so they are very difficult to spot. And while im ok with the missiles being decent againt hovering helos the way the AI tanks always know where you are makes it so when ever you go into a hover withing range of a T-72B or T-90 to launch at them there is a good chance there is already a missile on its way and the first you will know of it is either when it hits or when you see it coming at you through the TV display. Im fine with adding the M830A1 HEAT MP-T round though i dont see it making a huge difference when it comes to its effectiveness against helicopters (if the round has a proximity fuse it might help some but not by a huge amount since the AI usually either hits the helicopter or it misses with a decent margin).
  24. Limited All Aspect means that its all aspect in some situations. So you can get a lock from any aspect if the conditions are right (Depending on Range,Angle,Target,The Heat generated by the target and many other factors such as weather conditions etc) and the stars align. Where as a full all aspect missile can Reliably lock a target from any aspect in most conditions and at longer ranges. So if the target is at a closer range and is generating a large amount of heat (by using its afterburners for example) then its very possible that the missile can get even a Head on-lock but if the target goes idle for a few seconds it might not longer be able to do so.
  25. An Alouette could be interesting especially for Pilot rescue missions etc. I would love to see some more eastern helis though, For example An Mi-2 Would be amazing ^^ Maby with two different variants? a MI-2URP Gunship with a Fixed 23mm cannon and pylons for 4 AT-3 ATGMs + 4 Strela II Manpads as well as a Unarmed Mi-2 variant for transport only. And there is no Helicopter Cuter then a MI-2 ^^.
