even if one can use it from a rested position being able to lean in for a closer and clearer view should make it easier and more effective.

They decided to release it on my Birthday instead ^^.

In the AMA a while back on the subject cobra replied that they would probably include a Snap view button for it.

I dont know there were many a Swedish Teenager in the 1980s who spent time working with the Viggen.

I would like to make a request. The AJS 37 will be released in 8 days and im far from the only one excited to get her and fly her on the Open conflict Server. What im asking for is if would it be possible for you to give her the Targets as waypoints (atleast the Stationary targets). I know you usually dont give the Aircraft the waypoints but it would be extra important for the AJS 37. While yes the Waypoints are an important help when it comes to navigation and knowing the range to target etc but more importantly they will help in a different way when it comes to targeting. Target QFE settings play a crucial role to make sure that the Weapons Calculations work correctly (and you get accurate weapon solutions) and the easiest way to get the Correct QFE for each of the targets would be making them waypoints. Leatherneck has made a custom Kneeboard feature where all waypoints created in the Mission editor are loaded onto a Kneeboard page where it gives you all the relevant information about those waypoints including the QFE setting. (example) This does not work however for Waypoints the player adds during the mission. And since the correct QFE setting is required to accurately use unguided munitions (but it would also help some guided munitions as well) this would be of great help to make the AJS 37 fully functional on your server, since while it might be possible for players to manually calculate the QFE setting it would be a major pain to do so =P (and most players probably have no idea how to) and this would be the best and easiest way to solve the problem and give Viggen Pilots the best Experience on the server. The alternative would be if you added the QFE settings for the different targets in the Briefing but just adding the waypoints for the AJS 37 would probably be easier / faster.

I promise you sooner or later there will be a MP Air-Air kill against an enemy fighter using the RB 05A... Its just a matter of time.
-
They probably decided to put all guided weapons under the Missile tab. But yea its not a proper missile as its not powered but maby they did it this way for simplicity sake.
-
Is that the distance between each bomb (or pair of bombs) or is it from the first to last bomb?
-
Though the Warhead on the RB 75T is not much smaller then that of the RB 05A (i think its a 136kg warhead on the 75T). So while the 160kg warhead of the RB 05A is slightly larger the 75T is probably more likely to get a direct hit on the target. But both weapons will have their uses. Though the RB 05A will be the trickier of the two to use.

Are you sure that you are not locking the ghost contacts? (Caused by ECM) They are contacts that jump around and dont have a Velocity number. Only Contacts with a Velocity number are real and worth worrying about.

Bunyap Test Flight - Shows Maverick Deployment.
mattebubben replied to Morgue's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
yea they are probably more worried about function to start with (making sure the VID functions properly and is aligned correctly etc) and then they will just add the correct filter before launch. -

mattebubben replied to Morgue's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
That is most likely because what we have seen is WIP. They will most likely add the filter before release to make it look more proper (less picture perfect and more like a 1970s Sensor/Display). -
Bunyap just posted a Viggen Vid.

Let me help you with that Ice ^^.

Just a Minor Correction there ^^. That American Made Countermeasure system you mentioned. Its not American Its a Swedish Design (Made by Celsius AB) that was later Exported to other Nations Across the World (Including the US) Swedish Designation (Designers Designation) was BOL 451 With the US Designation after it was adopted being LAU-138 (if its Implemented into the LAU-7 launcher) or AN/ALE-58 if its in a LAU-128 launcher. But its a Swedish Design not a US one ^^.

The AJS 37 mod was never a long time upgrade. The Swedish Airforce had already selected a replacement for the AJ 37 Viggen (JAS 39 Gripen) but due to some delays in development the AJ 37 had to soldier on for a few more Years. But the Airforce had also had weapons developed for the JAS 39 (The BK-90 and RBS 15) and those weapons where already ready and available but there was no aircraft to carry them. So the AJS 37 Upgrade was seen as a minimal cost/effort upgrade to allow the AJ 37 to employ those weapons (by giving it more computing power etc) and give it a little extra capabilities for those last 3-6 years of service before the JAS 39 Was ready for Service. The AJS 37 was never supposed to serve for much longer then that which is why the Upgrade program did not even include any type of service life extension program or more major upgrades. So one cant really compare it with the F-16 Upgrade program as that was a Major Capabilities Upgrade / Life Extension. So the AJS 37 is still very much a 1960s design / 1970s aircraft it just got the ability to use some 1990s era weapons. Aircraft usually get minor upgrades like this over their lifetimes without the need for changing the Designation, But the Reason For the Designation change was that it got Given the ability to also somewhat undertake the Radar Recce role as the radar was Modified to similar Specs as the SH 37 Recce aircraft giving the AJ 37 (A for Attack J For Jakt = Fighter) a limited recce ability thus adding the S (S for Spaning =Reconnaissance). For example a F-15C flying today will most certainly be quite different from a F-15C when it first entered service 1979 but it just did not have a designation change despite a plethera of Upgrades over its service life to give it new capabilities etc.

Well there was already a A-7 thread on this first forum page =P. (that is 1 from 2015)

Those are some Real men doing some Real Flying. Looking forward to do the same thing in the Viggen simply at higher speeds ^^.

Has there been any confirmations so far about what Weapons we will and wont see with the A-4E?. For example how big is the chance of us getting the AGM-45 Shrike?

Any features in particular you are wondering about? -
An A-5/Q-5 Fantan is far more then just a Copy paste... The Airframe is based on the Mig-19 yes but its a Mach 1 capable Ground attack aircraft that depending on variant can have both a Laser rangefinder for targeting solutions (that many if not most variants had) and many of the variants also had a HUD. Its able to carry a large amount of different Air-Ground Armaments and IR missiles for self defence. It was the Chinese Standard Strike / Attack aircraft from the 1970s and its still in service (though it has been mostly replaced by more modern aircraft) and has been in service with multiple other nations including Pakistan,North Korea as well as Bangladesh,Sudan and Myanmar and its still in service with most of them though some (Pakistan, and Bangladesh) have retired theirs over the last few years. So capabilities wise its nothing like a Mig-19 and visually / performance wise its also a huge difference. I think it would be a great addition to the game as it would be the First Chinese aircraft and would be another supersonic attack aircraft and being an interesting one to boot. The Shenyang J-6 was just a Copy of the Mig-19 But the Q-5/A-5 was an attack aircraft that was while based on the Mig-19 was significantly redesigned to fit its new Role. (In the same way as the A-7 Corsair Was Based on the F-8 Crusader) And in general i Just like the look of the Q-5/A-5 So it would certainly be an interesting aircraft to add to the game and should be decent enough in the Strike role depending on the variant.

We are now getting closer to Leathernecks release of the AJS 37 Viggen and that will Bring with it Both the AGM-65A (or atleast the Swedish variant of it) as well as the AGM-65B. The AGM-65A and AGM-65B were the primary weapons for the A-10A for a long time. The AGM-65A for the first few years as the Primary before being Replaced by the AGM-65B but the B stayed in service for allot longer (and should have still been in use in the Mid-late 90s). Since While AGM-65B would be less capable then the D that entered full service in the mid 80s it was still commonly used on the A-10A (a mix of 65B and 65Ds would be carried) according to what i can find, the main reason for this is that the cost for the AGM-65B was far far lower then the cost of a AGM-65D and it was still an effective weapon (depending on weather conditions etc). So what im wondering is after Leatherneck has implemented these weapons into the game for their AJS 37 Module would it be possible for either both or atleast the AGM-65B to be added to the A-10A as well as it would be very nice to have for 1980s and 1990s scenarios and the AGM-65A could be nice to have for early scenarios as it was used from then the A-10A first entered service in the late 70s.

** DCS: AJS-37 WIP Pre-Release Manual Released! **
mattebubben replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Well it was a First Generation Hud so there was no Standard Hud Symbology or layout at the time. So the Hud is strange to us who are used to later Nato or Russian Huds who then followed Standards and solutions that had been developed over time. But in the mid-late 60s when this Hud was developed there was no Standard to go by so they simply made things up as they went along and did things that seemed logical to them. So the Hud in the AJS 37 will be nothing like the HUDs in any of the current DCS aircraft just because its such an early design so they had nothing to base their work on. the A-7 Corsair (that Razbam is making) will be very much the same (in being very different and a bit clunky etc) but using different solutions / symbology etc since that is also a first generation HUD. -

I think what he was asking was if you could fire the rocket Pods one Pylon at a time So you fire all 6 Rockets in a single pod but without the other Pods Launching (Launching each Pod Separately) =P atleast that is my reading of his question. -
I dont think there is a AGM 65B ingame atm =P if so what aircraft has it? the earliest that can be carried by the A-10A ingame is the AGM-65D.
