  1. I had this problem before this patch but not with 1.5.5 Now the Mig-21 and the radar are working just fine for me =P.
  2. Not fixed. It still smokes as much as ever.
  3. Does the Mirage IIICJ have a RWR system? And if it had one was the delivered with it did it get one at a later date. And also the Mirage IIICJ is slightly older avionics wise then the Mig-21Bis or F-5E-3 (The Mirage IIICJ were Delivered between 1961-1964 where as the Mig-21Bis entered service in 1972 same with the F-5E though our F-5E-3 with its RWR probably entered service in the late 1970s). So were as in general the Mirage III,Mig-21 and F-5 are of similar age but the Mig-21Bis and F-5E are the last production variants where as the Mirage IIICJ is an earliest variants of the Mirage III.
  4. Ok. Yes i agree that the Axis is way to fast and sensitive. But in B-Scope i dont find the Key commands to be that slow when it comes to Slewing =P atleast not for me.
  5. I dont know if i understand what the TDC bug is?. Since personally i dont have any troubles with Slewing the cursor, Especially if i switch to the B-Scope mode then i have no problems with the cursor at all (i find it no harder then any other aircraft in the game).
  6. Is this the illustration you talked about?. (it was in this accident report for the First of the Wing failures http://www.svfplhist.com/index.htm?s=37/37hav.htm)
  7. If it was the Caucassus map though the trees would not be infront of the helicopter but would rather be clipping through it ^^
  8. Ok so its just an Audio warning that is lacking?. I must have missed those pages in the manuals as i think i have read most of them =P. I based my comment mostly on some pilot statements (including from the interview that i linked in that post). Thank you for the correction =). Still feel like they should have included an audio warning as the later fighter variant had since visual cues are much easier to miss during flight (especially if focusing on some other task) then an audio warning is, But it sure is better then nothing.
  9. Yea when the Viggen entered service it was very advanced for its time and proved to everybody that it was an advanced and capable aircraft that was very respected in both the West and in the East. When the AJ 37 entered service in the early 1970s it was modern and very capable (and in the Anti-ship role it was probably one of the best aircraft available at the time) and then when the JA 37 entered service in 1980 it proved to be a very capable and effective fighter that had some unique systems and features (like the ability to slave the Cannon to the Autopilot having the aircraft steer itself to a proper gun solution if you had a radar lock) as well as getting a complete Fighter-Fighter Datalink many years before most other nations / aircraft. For example one thing that always seemed strange to my mind when it comes to the attack/recce variants (AJ37/SH37/SF37) is that despite the way they were meant to be flown (Very high speed very low altitude) they did not have an Audio or Visual warning system for low altitude or imminent ground collision. The later Ja 37 Fighter Viggen apparently had such a system and as such was safer to fly at low altitude (Despite that it did so less then the AJ 37 did). This is one factor that contributed to some of controlled flight into terrain accidents so such a system would have saved lives and i find it strange that it did not have such a warning system from the beginning or never had it retrofitted (where as the Fighter variant had it when it entered service). On a side topic (that also mentions this problem) im certain that this has been linked on this thread before (90% sure) but il do it again since there are plenty of new people in the thread and it was many many pages ago. This is an Interview (in english) with a Viggen pilot, he flew mostly the Ja 37 but had stick time with all variants and he answers questions both about the Viggen as a whole but also about the different variants. https://www.milavia.net/specials/iv_viggen/
  10. The Viggen did not really have many more accidents then any other aircraft of the same time period that was flown in a similar way, Flying low and fast regularly is always dangerous and increases the risk by alot compared to flying higher since there are much smaller margins. The most common causes for accidents where pilot errors, Either Crash on landing/take off,Controlled Flight into terrain (usually over the ocean as it was easy to loose spatial awareness and at speeds of Mach 0.8-0.9 at low altitude even a few degrees of dive and you can be dead before you realize the mistake. The only real accidents that happened due to a problem in the aircraft where the so called "vingbrottshaverierna". In the 70s during early service there were 3 accidents due to a fault in the wings that caused one of the wings to snap during maneuvering (Usually during a rolling maneuver with the afterburner engaged) All of the 3 pilots made it out alive due to the automatic system (that caused the pilots to be ejected when the aircraft broke apart). The Fault if it remember correctly (im sure Renhauxe will supply us with more complete information) was due to the fact that one of the wing spars was too weak and prone to metal fatigue. (and enough weakening could cause it to snap during hard maneuvering). The First accident happened in 1974 the second in 1975 and 4 days later the third,But after those 3 accidents and having located the problem was fixed and that type of accident never happened after that. Over all the Viggen was not a particularly dangerous aircraft, With 329 aircraft made of all variants and serving from 1967 (first prototype flight) to 2005 (last Viggen left airforce service) only 54 aircraft crashed of were damaged beyond repair with only 17 pilots dying. And during this time they flew very often (most aircraft had a very high number of flight hours) and very intensely with high speed low level flight and intense practice dogfighting being common practice. Yes it resulted in some accidents but on the other hand it also resulted in Sweden having some of the best combat pilots around who were respected both in the west (from practice encounters and Squadron Exchanges) and in the east from the Russian,Polish and East German pilots that often encountered them in the skies over the Baltic sea. And overall Sweden and the Viggen had no higher loss statistics then other western airforces (if number of aircraft and flight hours etc are taken into account). And also for those interested i have another link. (In Swedish as well sadly) http://www.svfplhist.com/index.htm?s=37/37hav.htm This page lists all the Viggen Accidents and crashes (for all the variants) as well as including info from the crash investigation report and sometimes pictures etc. http://www.svfplhist.com/index.htm?s=37/37hav.htm This is the page for the first of the accidents due to the wing problem and includes some nice pictures / illustations. I might translate 1 or 2 of these tomorrow if i have the time.
  11. You Jettison tanks the same way you Jettison anything else. You Select the Pylon or pylons in question, Turn on Selective Jettison and then click the Jettison button. Or if you are only carrying Air-Air weapons you could use the Emergency jettison button (that will jettison everything put your Air-Air missiles).
  12. Well they dont start from 1 in a Division or even wing but i dont know as they dont always seem to match the Serial numbers as shown in the link below they often match the serial (atleast early on) but not always especially after having been transferred to a new division/wing the number might be changes so it no longer matches the serial. And the normal number of aircraft in a Division was 8-12 aircraft with some times a few more + spares etc according to wiki. (Edit: see Ren got there first with more complete info) And for those interested the Serial ranges for the Different Viggen variants were as follows. AJ 37 serial numbers 37001–37108 JA 37 serial numbers 37301–37449 SK 37 serial numbers 37801–37817 SH 37 serial numbers 37901–37927 SF 37 serial numbers 37950–37977 And there is also an interesting Wiki page (in Swedish but i think it will still be interesting) It details the info about the different aircraft and shows pretty much all the data on the different serials. When they where completed when they were Scrapped or if/when they crashed as well as if they were upgraded and if so when they were upgraded. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lista_%C3%B6ver_Saab_37_Viggen Some Explanations first to let you guys more easily understand / navigate that page. Flygplannummer is the serial code of the aircraft. Godkänd means Accepted as in that is the date the aircraft was accepted by the airforce. Kasserad means condemned as in when the aircraft was condemned / written of. Haveri is the term used for a crash/accident that left the aircraft destroyed. Bas/kod is Base/code and it shows the Codes (tail number) the Aircraft used as well as where it did so, and if an aircraft has many it tells at what time it used what number. For example Serial nr 37006 has 3 sets of codes, FC-16, 7-06, 15-06 the first code FC-16 means that it was used by the Testing center to do tests at first and during that time it carried the Tail number 16, 7-06 means that it was delivered to F7 where it carried the Tail number 06 and then finally it was transferred to F15 where it also carried the number 06. The next section determins if the aircraft had been upgraded or not and to what version if it was upgraded. And then lastly you have Anmärkning meaning Observation/notes where it will state what happened to it, If it was scrapped or sent to a museum etc or if it crashed where it did so. And then there might be a Picture of the aircraft in question. If anybody has anymore questions or need translations from something on that page feel free to ask.
  13. You mean Squads as in what Squadrons?. And also are you just interested in those who Flew the AJS 37 or the Attack Viggen as a whole (Since some Attack Units where not given the updated AJS 37 but were instead disbanded or Given the Jas 39 Gripen). First Lets start with the structure / organization of the Swedish Air force units and the names etc. (Note im not an expert in this area so i would be open to corrections if somebody knows more then i do). The term for a Air Wing in Swedish is a Flygflottilj (Directly translates to FlightFlotilla) and its typically organized into 2-3 Squadrons with 2 being minimum. (and some had as many as 4). The term Squadron (Skvadron in Swedish) is not used for fixed wing aircraft but rather the term Division is used (so a Flygflotillj will usually consist of 2-3 divisions) The Swedish wings that operated the attack Viggen (AJ 37) in a primary role were F6,F7,F15 Il start by using F6 as an example when explaining the structure etc. F6 (F is short for Flygflottilj) stationed at Karlsborg in Sweden they had 3 Divisions 2 of whom flew the AJ 37 attack viggen and 1 flying the recce variants SF 37 and SH 37. While the testing etc for the AJS 37 was done on F6 the unit was closed down in 1994 before the AJS 37 entered service. All of the wings had names using the Swedish phonetic alphabet and the latter according to the number of the wing and each division in a wing had its own color and these Names / colors would be used for Callsigns and to easily be able to ID the unit of an aircraft. For example the F6 wing had the over all Callsign Filip (F being the 6th letter in the alphabet) and each of the Divisions had a color, 1st Division = Red (Röd in Swedish) 2nd Division = Blue (Blå In Swedish) 3rd Division =Yellow (Gul in Swedish) 4th Division = White (though the 4th division was usually not a fighting division but rather a non flying or training division) 5th Division = Black. (Svart in Swedish) So the First Division of the F6 wing would be called Filip Red (First Division 6th wing) And the Callsign for an aircraft would be the name (letter) of the Wing and the tail number so for example. This aircrafts callsign would be Filip 02 (And it would be a Part of Filip Red = 1st Division of the 6th wing as can be seen due to the tail number being in Red). Each Division also had a Number Designation that was decided depending on the parent wing where in for example the 1st Division (red) of the 6th wing (Flygflotilj) would be the 61st division and the second division (blue) would be the 62nd and so on. Now that i have explained the naming schemes etc il get on to what other Units flew the AJ 37 and AJS 37. The next unit that flew the attack Viggen (and it was also the First to have the Attack Viggen in service) was F7 stationed at Såtenäs they had 2 divisions, (71st and 72nd) flying the attack Viggen (First AJ and then the AJS) and its callsign was Gustav (G=7th letter) they flew the Attack Viggen Operationally from 1973-1998 (at which point the Gripen Replaced it in both Divisions). The third of the Wings that operated the Attack viggen from the Start (Early-Mid 70s) was the F15 wing stationed at Söderhamn its callsign was Olle and it had two Divisions Olle Röd (First Division) being a Pure AJ 37 Attack Division and Olle Blå (Second Division) at first having a mix of AJ 37s and Sk 37s but in the 90s during the AJS 37 upgrades and the closing the F6 it finally got enough aircraft for two complete attack divisions. And lastly we have F10 (Johan) that was originally a fighter Wing with 3 Divisions flying the J35 Draken fighter but that had its 1st Division (101st Division) Re-Equipped with Attack and Recce Viggens in 1993 after the closing of the Attack divisions at F7 and the Recce Division at F17 and F13 it was also the last division flying the attack Viggen when it re-equipped with the Jas 39 in 2000-2001. I hope that answers some of your questions.
  14. Visually sure but its would be a completely new aircraft as a whole. The Airframe design etc is very similar (as the F-20 was based to a large part on the F-5E). But the F-20 has a more powerfull engine (and is single engine instead of Twin engine) and has alot more advanced avionics / systems. The F-20 is over all pretty comparable to the F-16 (of the same time period as the F-20) in terms of capabilities and systems (The F-20 was capable of Mach 2.0 able to carry BVR weapons like the Aim-7 that was available at the time as well as air-ground weapons like the AGM-65 etc). The F-20 was over all a very good aircraft and for the customers it was aimed at it would have been perfect (just like the F-5 it was aimed at export to nations that wanted modern and advanced aircraft but at an affordable price point) and it would most likely have been successful but sadly politics contributed in it never getting a customer (the US government more or less prevented several purchases from interested nations) I like the F-20 and it was a damn shame that it was never given a chance and i think it would have been very successful for being so cost effective while still being amongst the best performance wise. But im still leaning towards that there are allot of other aircraft that have actually seen widespread service that should be added first.
  15. i dont understand why the Spit and the Viggen could not be released close together though as i dont understand how they compete since they are completely different and appeal to different people allot of the time. (Since some are interested in ww2 aircraft and some are interested in more modern aircraft and then some are equally interested in both). And if you want the Spit and the Viggen then you will get both sooner or later. I think most aircraft for DCS are released when they are ready (and some times sooner ^^) and not really held back due to release dates of other aircraft modules.
  16. And you are sure that you have the right Laser code set?. So the Bombs and the Jtac use the same laser code.
  17. Razbam is already making the A-7 ^^.
  18. Guys this is an Old question thread =P. I dont think there is a reason to Revive it as they have already decided their choices so restarting it after over a year of no posts seems a bit pointless.
  19. We should get one very soon though. Either on the 28th or very soon after, (since at that point it should be fully announced unless the 28th Stream is just Trolling xD but if it is there will be a price put on cobras head) But just imagine the stream starts you see the Leatherneck Logo. And then it cuts away to this xD. That would be both hilarious but yet extremely infuriating at the same time xD it feels like something Cobra could do xD.
  20. This is the Cockpit we will be getting for the AJ/AJS 37 (The Cockpit as linked by Bravo is that of the Two Seat Trainer Variant and is mostly the same visually other then the lack of the VID Maverick display etc) The Green Display that is to the Right of the HUD is the optical sight for use with the Maverick. The RWR display for the AJ/AJS 37 is integrated around the Radar display. If you look at the radar display you will see there are multiple things going on around the border. First in the Center you have the radar display. Then there are a series of 6 lights places around the border (easiest way to see them would be zoom in on them on the link from bravo) those lights (since they are off in the picture they just show as a lighter color then the border around them) together with audio warnings make up the RWR system and then outside that layer you an HSI type instrument. Personally i like this layout as you can see all 3 at the same time and it will also be easy to quickly tell the estimated heading of what ever is locking/scanning you.
  21. ffs... They have already said that with the Viggen they are trying a different procedure / schedule then they have used with the Mig-21 and F-14... as in not releasing pictures and updating the public on the progress etc over the development period... But instead staying silent until the aircraft is almost ready for release and then do a quick surprise announcement followed by release shortly after... You forget that Leatherneck did not officially announce the Viggen but rather it was leaked due to steam. So their plans to make it a surprise announcement / release was disrupted but they decided to continue with the plan to not show anything until it was done. This has been stated by Cobra and other members of the team so i dont understand why you and others keep ignoring those facts... This Module will from everything we have heard and know come out before the F-14 as its further a long in development... And if any of you guys still doubt that please com back after the Live stream on the 28th... And sorry if i seem rude but im getting frustrated having to repeat this every day...
  22. Well they have confirmed that all the standard weapons for the AJS 37 will be there including the RBS 15 and BK 90. So the Bombs ,Rocket/Gun pods are a given as are the RB 05 and the Mavericks. They have also stated that ontop of the normal RB 75s (that are based on the AGM-65A and existed in two variants one with the Normal warhead called RB 75 and one with a heavy warhead like some later AGM-65s called RB 65T) they are also gonna add the AGM-65B for the Viggen. Since first it should be compatible (since an aircraft that can launch the A should be able to launch the B) it just was never adopted by Sweden (atleast as far as we know) but could have been used by theoretical export customers. But more importantly it will be added since due to Game limitations the AGM-65A with its Zoomed out seeker picture might be harder to use ingame then it would have been in real life (as the Resolution is limited and the display area for the seeker display is quite limited) so they decided to add the AGM-65B that has a seeker (using the same technology as the A) that is more "zoomed" in thus it will make it easier to spot things through the display ingame. Aim-9s should also be a given both a rear aspect variant and a All aspect (RB 24J/Aim-9P/J and RB 74/Aim-9L) and its possible that we can also expect an older Aim-9B (RB 24) to represent earlier scenarios as it was the Air-Air missile carried by the Viggen when it first entered service.
  23. But this is a completely different Scenario though... And they have already said many many times that they are working in a different way this time. And that they would not start releasing pictures etc untill the module was pretty much fully completed and that the time between the Announcement (Videos / Pictures) Pre-Order and Release (atleast in Beta / Early Access form) would only be a few weeks apart (or at most 1-2 months). They have also stated that the Viggen is much further along in development then the F-14 is and that it will come out first. And everything they have said so far follows those statements they have not said anything indicating otherwise. They also said that there would be a Month or more or intense teasing etc before the release etc (and it feels like that teasing has begun). So i think a release this year is very very likely (unless something drastically happens that is out of their control etc).
  24. Yea those are RB 04Es. That is the Ani-Ship missile that the Viggen carried from its service entry untill the 90s (when it was replaced with the RB 15) and it was probably the most important armament of the AJ 37 as its main task was to prevent the enemy invasion fleet from getting to the coast. (but if they got there then it would assist in trying to crush the bridgehead with Air-Ground weapons etc) here is a IRL picture of the RB 04E. and i will attach a still form the video below. The video is probably displaying an attack against hostile ships with a number of Viggens having launched their Anti-ship missiles and you see the Missiles during their sea skimming faze as they approach the target at around 10m above the waves.
  25. Cobra Takes Teasing to the next level ^^. These Video clips are AMAZING.
