  1. See first post, edited per below suggestion.
  2. corroborating evidence Edit: Based on trying to replay my track, however it may display correctly to others, the chopper mysteriously drops out of the sky. I think we all know the missiles are very accurate after launch but is anyone else having problems with replays? See attached track. After system finally warms up the method is demonstrated twice and distance is confirmed by laser (4700m+, 4900m+). Is it possible to calculate this as a random dispersion based on the stability oscillations of the missile or just the velocity vector and a slight random offset when the cable is severed? Also, I imagine the inertia is such that the cable yanking loose at the rear is not sufficient to reorient the missile? Or should that effect just completely bork the yaw/pitch of the missile? 3. SOLVED: Per suggestions below, the edited file is attached in a .zip. The file to change is "glass_reflect.dds". Here's how to change it if interested: Open the SA342 texture pack located here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\CoreMods\aircraft\SA342\Textures\SA342.zip. Do so in a .zip editor such as WinRar and copy/replace the edited texture into here. After clearing it up my glass is totally clean. Alternatively try googling "JSGME" for installing mods, though I haven't tried this. Original: Hello, I'm trying to create edited cockpit textures. Initially I want to clear up the glass textures and then later brighten/saturate the instrument panel so it is more visible. I've located the texture package in coremods and identified some of the textures I'll need to edit. However, I need assistance with what texture has what effect. My primary concern is the apparent dirt on the windshield but none of the available textures seems to actually consist of dirt smudges or anything like that. There are a number of reflection textures and damage textures but only one, the normal map texture, appears to have anything erratic that might appear as dirt in-game. Is the file I need to edit just the SA342_cpt_glass_norm.bmp or is there another file that controls how dirty the window looks? Thanks and I love the mod. I personally would just like to tweak the glass to see a little more clearly out of the lovely bubble. glass_reflect.zip
  4. New "dirty" Lens effects and Depth of Field. Similar to others but I liked it.
  5. I did a search for "MQ-9" at the overall ED Forums level and only found posts in Russian that might be relevant but I can't understand them well enough: Why is there an MQ-9 Reaper view set in the SnapViews.lua? I was in there editing my SnapViews after moving from Steam over to the DCS Standalone setup and to my surprise found this block - SnapViews["MQ-9 Reaper"] = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 [1] = {--LWin + Num0 : Snap View 0 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [2] = {--LWin + Num1 : Snap View 1 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [3] = {--LWin + Num2 : Snap View 2 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [4] = {--LWin + Num3 : Snap View 3 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [5] = {--LWin + Num4 : Snap View 4 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [6] = {--LWin + Num5 : Snap View 5 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [7] = {--LWin + Num6 : Snap View 6 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [8] = {--LWin + Num7 : Snap View 7 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [9] = {--LWin + Num8 : Snap View 8 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [10] = {--LWin + Num9 : Snap View 9 viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [11] = {--look at left mirror viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [12] = {--look at right mirror viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [13] = {--default view viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.000000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, }, } Anybody know what this is about?

    SPRD-99 problem

The JATO bottles are designed to automatically jettison when used properly (hope I haven't confused this with something else). Didn't watch the track but look carefully and make sure they're not just falling off on their own... thus the boom and jolt.
  7. Thought I'd add that this source: Friedman, Norman (1997), The Naval Institute Guide to World Naval Weapons Systems, Naval Institute Press, p. 235, ISBN 978-1-55750-268-1 According to wikipedia states the speed of the Kh-66 as 2,160–2,700 km/h. I don't have access to the actual document myself to verify.
  8. Thanks for making this and NOT making a video series! However, could you offer more insight into how you go about toss and level bombing in the Mig-21? Even if you're not an expert some guidance in the procedures would be appreciated. My current approach of "feel" is having mixed results and I'm almost always far too close to the target before I can get an accurate release.
  9. Updates not included in Steam Release (yet) Just an FYI for those that want to know... the updates listed don't seem to be incorporated into the Steam release of Mig-21 yet. I'm judging this based on the fact the LOD1, LOD2, and LOD3 mesh packages are all still 14,111KB each and are probably still identical.
