  1. UPDATE! The 'Stang goes full Navy Now I know this is just wrong and not historically correct, but when do you think we'll ever get a Wildcat or Hellcat or Corsair? Me, I think this is a great way to get started ;)
  2. Yeah, the first second I saw that animation I actually thought something like "Wow, look at that - they're takin' her below deck! WOW man..." and then followed by "NO NO NO WTF?!" Nothing is easy anymore ;)
  3. Dude, I was up last night comparing the S3 lua and P-51 lua...found it! But BIG thanks anyway. I just got lucky, had I've been just a tad more lazy I'd never get hold of this. The funny thing is, you gotta be picky in which way you want to spawn. If I remember correctly, spawning on ramp will set the 'Stang burning ;) BUT IT'S ON NOW - GO NAVY!!! @Zilch: The old Corsair is THE most brutal aircraft ever made, it's just badass all the way :) EDIT: Oh yeah, now I gotta get the repairs working. So far I've only been able to repair the Mi-8 on a carrier. The Huey can start a repair but then it will drop through the deck =##@/€#!!!
  4. And a fine bird she is YoYo
  5. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where you unlock this feature so that 'Stangs can start off carrier decks from the beginning of a mission? I know it's not historically accurate, but to me - it's not a big deal really. And if I can change this thing locally on my end, it won't interfere with those who want everything historically accurate on their end. And then of course there's more aircraft we could have fun with - the Sabre, the Mi-8... Here's how it's done. It's not THAT hard really, a few tries and you're an able naval aviator;) About carriers: They have no comms, you can't repair your aircraft on them but they're really fun to work with. And that's why I'd be happy to know where you switch this thing "on" for aircraft. C'mon now everyone - NAVY! NAVY! :pilotfly:
  6. OK, been trying out a naval scenario which really shows how boxed in we are at the moment. 1. With a Mustang, you can't start a mission on a carrier deck but you can end a mission there (with moving zone, under this altitude, under this speed and what not). You can however start a mission right next to a carrier, like you've just taken off. And landing a Mustang on a carrier is WAY easier than a Sabre. I'll make a video ;) 2. With a Sabre...see above (although, I wouldn't ask folks to learn landing a Sabre on a carrier deck) 3. With a Huey, you are allowed to start a mission at the deck of a carrier but an AI-Huey can't land on a carrier (even of you make the carrier stop). The AI-Huey will just circle, gain altitude and then run out of gas. So OK then, you can use the Huey in a naval campaign but only if controlled by a player. What's also limiting naval operations is the fact that there's no repairs available on deck and no radio communications with a carrier. The repair part could be taken care of by ignoring the usual procedure and just make any aircraft landed repaired after 30 seconds or similar. We could just run the script for repair without animation. Instant repair, no hazzle. The communications part might be tougher as a carrier usually moves and that might prove a problem for navigational assistance (in the code) To summarize: We're limited by ones and zeros, yes/no arguments in code. I'd love to get the easiest parts squared away. If anyone knows how to edit aircraft for "carrier spawning", please share :) And here's the naval pron :pilotfly: Navy Mustang Navy "Fury" Marine Huey (disclaimer: People who take things very seriously and/or lack imagination are kindly asked not to watch)
  7. What an awesome idea! The Skyraider is just so badass  Please keep us updated - and I wouldn't hesitate to pay money for this :)
  8. The F9F would be awesomest of awesome, but considering the minimal input of work to get a Fury going, I'd go for that :)
  9. @f86enthusiast Me too! Just think about it businesswise: MINIMAL amount of work, BIG return of investment. 'Cause I'd pay top dollar for a Fury and I reckon I'm not alone in that camp :)
  10. I just love the sound of the rotors...gonna have to get some Huey-time again :)
  11. I get to realize the potential dangers on an aircraft carrier. All the ordnance, all the gas. Having watched documentaries about them I've previously thought things like "aren't they overdoing the safety drills" or "another fire drill...are they nuts or sumtin?". Well, having youtubed this fire of -67, I know better now.
  12. Not all skill I'm afraid, the storm was my 5th or 6th attempt...I just got lucky there. But let's keep that between us ;) And start training for naval ops when you have time. It's crazy fun once you get over the first horrible disasters :joystick: To all you others, what a great response on this thread. And real stuff from guys who have actually been there! I take my hat off :)
  13. @ =Mac= Yankee station huh?! That was up close to N.Vietnam right? And the photo - DANG!
  14. That's awesome! Been reading up on them Furys, seems like the marines were the only ones who put them to good use :) (I think crazyeddie did my Navy skins as well)
  15. If you mean there's to be a full-on official flight model made for the North American FJ-2/-3 Fury - then yes, I can imagine the legal/technical part is immense. But if we just get a hook, sort of like a mod...then we're under the radar ;) Of course some people would frown at that, like "you're not flying a correct version of that aircraft" and such, but you know what? Let them frown. Yeah, frown away - it would be a mod and mods aren't mandatory. They could stick to their original Sabre and I could fly my Semipro-Fury :joystick: Me, I don't care about being correct - I just wanna fly this baby off aircraft carriers :)
  16. I'm with you on that: Essex We could use it for WWII-props as well :) But first things first, if we get the hook - we're in business!
  17. There was a naval version - the Fury :) Wikipedia
  18. Hey thanks :) OK, I got one Navy recruit now! ;) Wait wait, the "Yes to Navy"-side is rising in the poll!!!
  19. So, any Sabre pilots wanna to go NAVY?! I want to see if this is worth fighting for. Don't take any considerations into this, like "it's not gonna happen, man - they're too busy" and such. Just answer straight from your heart without thinking too much. You want this or not?
  20. I need to update on this - made a guide and summon to all Sabre pilots out there :) Basically, my wishlist: 1. Hook! (must-have) As of now I have an unsteady plane when on the carrier deck which in turn gives me hardly any service at all from ground crew. I've managed to get some gas a few times but never a full "fill'er up" and never a repair or re-arming. 2. Radio frequencies to Carriers (nice-have) Wouldn't it be great? That way the aircraft carriers would be like floating airbases! 3. Ability to start missions from deck of a carrier (must-have if you want the right feel) And that's all! I'd like to announce that I'd pay top dollar for a hook! :pilotfly:
  21. Well, it's a battle hardened nation alright - could be fun on ANY map :)
  22. :megalol: And yeah, how much effort is it to put a hook on it? I'd pay good money for that! It could be a pay-for-add-on or something like that. Just think about it, it's easy money - right there! Toko-Ri, here we come! EDIT: We'd also need the ability to start a mission from a carrier and communicate with it over the radio :) Now y'all watch and learn US Navy Training film
  23. +500 on golani79 This ain't EA-games (and I hope it will NEVER come to that)
  24. Man, that Fury would be awesome! :)
