Hey, SnowTiger! But isn't that the case with all NVGs in this game? At least, when I try it in the Mustang I also get the same behaviour - that is, if I turn the brightness too far down it sure gets blurry fast. (And yeah, it's the exact same in the Huey) But you know what? This "feature" is pretty nice, it just means you can't use NVGs in twilight missions. I've made missions that are in the twilight on purpose, so you can't "cheat" with them NVGs ;)

+1 on this thread! I have zero stick time in real life, but I have "flown" this bird before in "Mig Alley" and it feels pretty much "right" if not better. I've always been fond of early jets and well, I for one feel like I'm flying one of those when I buckle up in the DCS-version of the Sabre :) But I'm a phoney alright :( I'd love to hear a real Sabre driver speak on the subject!

Easy Communications seem dead
SFC Tako replied to SFC Tako's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
No, it sure is NOT normal. Also, just one more thing about manual radio...I believe there's channel selection involved as well. It shouldn't mean squat but I could only send if I had channel 3 selected (?!?!). But OK, easy comms are somewhat working now... -
@leafer I think both the Sabre and Mig-15 are ugly...but in a very cool way. It's something corny/cartoonish about them that really strikes a chord with me. And I'm getting the Mig-15 once it's out there, that's for damn sure :) @FlyNate Yup, just had to do it - couldn't resist the urge to go France-1950s ;) But anyways, your other skin, the Abkhaz-camo, is real badass looking. But I won't mess with it, since I believe most french aircraft from that period were mostly shiny metal (but I might just use it the way you made it in my campaign, for Abkhaz Air Force). Speaking of american skins, the original US-Korea skin is always a favorite, I flew "Mig Alley" a lot way back when :) @diveplane DANG!!! That jet sound is perfect! Found the mod now...gotta try it once I'm back home after the holidays :pilotfly:

Ahem...wait one second...I think I had to just flick ONE more switch. Yeah, I think it read "SLU" in cyrillic (which might mean "listen"). Anyways, make sure it's not in that mode. THEN you might just be able to transmit. I'm on a train right now and won't be able to sort this out properly for you the next five days :( -
AND BOY IT'S A BLAST TO FLY! WorkInProgress_Algeria_Style_Campaign BTW: Thanks in advance to nhenley85. I've stolen one of your skins and just painted over them abkhaz roundels and flag ;)

Alright, I guess I'm OK then :)

Anyone else? I'm a Steam user and I have Avira for virus protection. EDIT: I chose "Cancel" and game started...well well.

Hey thanks, so I'm not all alone in this :) -
Nice vid, straight talk :)

Good read :) (I guess now that to call it the soccer war is to simplify things)
-
I'd love to get a skin like that. The whole latin american scene is real suave ;) (and that war was very macho, started over a soccer game)

I've been playing ground attack all day as I'm new to this P-51 and boy is it fun! I could sure use a Thunderbolt 'cause that bird is more Butch than anything from WWII but still, the P-51 is such a joy to fly up them narrow canyons. I've found a sweet place just northwest of Gudauta. Just fly 20km NW and follow a river up a canyon. Put in some armored colums travelling south from the northern lake, throw in a FAC, put in low cloud cover and rain to make it gritty and you're all set for bombing and rocket practice. So far I've only used trucks, BTRs and the odd T-55 - I don't know if I need any heavy AAA in the mix, guess I'll get there later ;) I'm sure this is old news to most of you guys, but I haven't had this much sim-fun for years as I have with DCS :)

Now THAT'S how DCS-vids should look like! What perfection, what suspense...and what a rewarding ending! Things both look and feel so much more real without labels and ubersmooth head movements. Also, I tried my first dogfight yesterday, at low level against a Messerschmitt...got really messed up. Now I know why - great thread :)

@Chappie Interesting, especially that about the landing just being an extension of the proper procedures. Me, I was definitely in a hurry to get my hands dirty and just scratch the landings from my list. You on the other hand want the whole truth about it. We have totally different approaches, but this was good reading. Thought-provoking :)

Well I've always been very fond of low-tech solutions as opposed to higly advanced electric/digital solutions. You can trust low-tech :) Oh, and I'm gonna try it!
-
@WildBillKelsoe: So who needs state of the art high-tech landing aids then? ;)
-
GREAT Chief1942  Happy to help. So this here technique is called the three-point landing if I've understood things correctly. Now, I'm gonna stick with this for a while. Feels pretty "safe" ;)
-
Hang on, you mean you use the exhaust pipes for aligning to the 12 degree angle?! Otherwise, solid info :)
-
No, not seen it..until now! SWEET JESUS! Now there's flying! I like them subtitles as well, informative and to the point. AND as I understand, one can use that technique for other fighters as well :)

Hi all! As I'm brand new to this here wonderful warhorse I've had some...problems, shall we say ;) Main part being killing myself on landing (mostly). I've watched a few videos in this forum: 159th_Viper had a video landing like a pro, Double_D another nice video, Ali Fish wrote this wonderful basic script: 10 practice 20 Practice 30 add wind 40 goto 10 I did some button pressing on a TexasInstruments computer when I was a kid back in 80s and I can say I will definitely apply this script to myself! But anyways, I feel there's a lack of quick catchy guides for dummies like myself (noobs and the like) so here's my contribution: I hope I don't get too much flak for this, but I just feel sometimes you gotta dumb things down a bit. Y'know, so regular folks can get some stick time too. Having said that, if any mods feel this is WAY wrong, not in line with the standards of this forum and such, I will not make scene if you feel this needs removing...'cause the "damage" is already made at youtube :music_whistling:

AI Helo Transport - Only will land at FARPs/airports
SFC Tako replied to Igneous01's topic in Mission Editor
Anyone been able to disembark troops from choppers after latest "update", by using the mission editor, please sound off. Or one can use scripts instead, but why really? I mean this isn't rocket science, one should be able to use the mission editor like before. How can they mess up the most critical mission of our dear choppers: to transport troops? -
press: That's correct, I got the ground crew's attention that way. And Cibit is quite right about embark/disembark not working. I'm flying the Mustang now until that bug gets sorted :)

Dang, thanks Chump :) (It's one thing to believe something, another to KNOW about it)
