A-4 or F-4...I'd be happy like a kid again :) And here's why I can't land the Sabre safely, on a regular basis. It's mostly luck right now :( Or, OK I'm gettin' better but still - there is luck in the equation as well ;) SemiPro can't land five times in a row
-
What? No, I'm not gonna make an Osprey...or a Harrier ;)
-
Well, I'll keep it semi-serious...gonna try out a few more landings and see if there's any way I can fool the system or I could establish some messed up "doctrine" for carrier ops with the Sabre (like if I can pull this off five times in a row - then anyone else can learn it). What I first started out with was a moving trigger zone on the aircraft carrier with "under this altitude but over this altitude, slower than" and then an automatic stop of the mission. BUT THAT AIN'T NO LANDING! That's just being lazy. Anyways, I'll keep y'all posted on this not so serious endevour ;)

Now there's a thought! EDIT:After further thought, I don't even need a separate control for the hook. It would work just fine if it was automatically extended if you extend the airbrakes.
-
I know it's not historically correct, but I'd love to know if anyone knows how to get a hook on the F-86? Fake/simulated will be just fine, it doesn't have to show on the model. I'm not a very serious pilot, but I am thinking seriously about doing a Navy campaign for the F-86. I mean, there's not a Panther coming up soon and there's no chance of an F-4 in the close future...Skyhawk? Forget about it  But what if somebody could produce a fake arrestor hook? Could be used for launch as well. My general idea would be to rev up the engine to the max and then just retract the hook and fly off into the sunset ;) Here's why I've gotten these messed up ideas ;) SemiPro can land on a carrier
-
You got a point there :)
-
Hell yeah! That's my #1 as well! I remember flying the F4 and Intruder on the Amiga...Than Hoa...I get them flashbacks now, man ;) Apart from the periods, I agree fully on the need of a coordinated plan. What bothers me the most are the new maps. Yeah, I'm a crybaby alright - haven't even tried them out yet but I'm already sobbing  But get this: Who wants Vegas? Who wants the oil emirates? I just need one Vietnam map and one Afghanistan map and I'll be set for life. Guess I'm crazy...
-
SOLID info there, new to me - thanks :)
-
I played Vietnam last night :) External views And I'm all in on the other Vietnam aircraft!!! I mean c'mon, who the hell needs another of them modern "it-flies-itself" aircraft? Really, those pilots ain't pilots in my book ;)
-
LOL, thanks :) I haven't bothered with any other solutions as this one obviously works...but you can only have one skin active at a time this way. Somebody with more brainpower and/or determination will have to work out the rest (cause I'm lazy and happy with this right now).
-
Poor man's solution: I stole the file MiG-15_DIF.dds from MiG-15bis.zip, edited it and inserted it back into MiG-15bis.zip (via Winrar). Shit works :) (remember, make a backup of original MiG-15bis.zip) Semi-Pro fights back :pilotfly:
-
Watch this ;) EDIT: Hey BTW, you need to keep the stick back to have control over the tailwheel! If you don't do that, the tailwheel won't be under your control...it will turn any way the aircraft wants to. EDIT2: Yeah...ricktoberfest already mentioned that.

So who likes the new F-86 canopy and increased gun smoke?
SFC Tako replied to Winston60's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
You CAN fly this bird without fixing the canopy and gunsmoke...but it's hard ;) -
I went the other way. Had only flown Hueys, Mi-8s and then the Mustang...and switching to the Sabre put a big smile all over my face. The difference in power was just insane! And the smoothness compared to flying the Mustang, what a cool jet! But I still love the Mustang. And the choppers ;)

Fuerza Area Guatemalteca Skin Request
SFC Tako replied to Delta6Actual76's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I stand corrected, Honduras it was! But I'm all in on a poor man's campaign :) -
Fuerza Area Guatemalteca Skin Request
SFC Tako replied to Delta6Actual76's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
But are there any skins for El Salvador then? ;) Anyways, +1 on this! -
I'm really psyched up for this Mig-15 release - REALLY PSYCHED UP!!! HUAH! :pilotfly:
-
Same here, but as you've stated - just go ahead and create that folder :)
-
I've never found any switches for them. There should be switches for them somewhere.
-
It IS skiddish, you gotta touch down at the very beginning of the runway and let things cool down by themselves without you braking (cause that's when all hell breaks loose). Just touch down at slowest possible speed (come in at very conservative angle with good distance too) and use very light corrections on the nosewheel all the way along the runway. When under 50knots you can start braking...gently ;) Go to 09:00 on my vid, there you can see me landing. I'm quite new to this aircraft myself so I ain't no expert but I get her down without exploding. Semi-Pro can land! I believe I was braking pretty early in this one but I know better now :)
-
Tackar tackar! ;) Well, if you have the Huey you can always play the campaign. It's high quality, very well thought out and has pretty much zero glitches. With scripted troop hauling. Gotta say it again - it's HIGH QUALITY stuff! (I haven't tried any Mi-8 campaigns)
-
Yup, agentkgb - it's broken alright. Happened to me after December 4th or 3rd (along with easy comms gone). Troop menu is gone, troops can sometimes embark but sure as hell can't disembark. Some guy somewhere had a script for making this to function anyway, but me - I just think they've broken the Huey and Mi-8 choppers (they're utility choppers, I want to be able to use them like that...straight from mission editor). This is easy stuff and it worked just fine before they screwed it up (so nobody please don't come talkin' "hey it's a Beta" with me). Anyways, this blunder of their's forced me into the fixed wing department. The Mustang is one tough old gal and the Sabre is just plain awesome to fly. But I will get back to the choppers if they ever fix them again. Let's hope sometime this year :smilewink:
-
Yup, can't recollect any "trim" on them goggles either. But I had the worst crap: one lense only, no sense of distance. Like "just shoot a flare" ;) Our captain once ordered our APC-drivers to wear them during a night patrol in Bosnia for no particular reason...Jeeesus (I was there after the war).
-
+1 On that, russian voices is a must-have! I'm out of the chopper camp for the moment but I'll definitely play this campaign later on when they've sorted everything. But not without russian voices!
