  1. Yep. Normandy map is what we're waiting on. We've got a group of 30 or so pilots, many of whom are ready to switch from BoS to DCS as soon as we have a proper ww2 sandbox.
  2. Hi all. Just getting into DCS skinning, starting with the Kurfurst (a dream) and now the mustang (less so). I'm using a very detailed template from November 2015, in 1.5 open beta. Everything is great, looks good and is super easy to paint, but when I zoom out gaps begin to appear between the painted areas, dividing the areas delineated by the wire frame in the templates. Just whites lines separating all the pained areas, particularly noticeable around the nose, along the top of the engine cowling, and between the fuselage fore and aft sections. What am I missing here? Edit: this is the template I'm using http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1553631/
  3. Hey alright, that's easy enough, thanks again!
  4. Thank you! I must say this strikes me as awfully strange, That it comes as a single template for the entire aircraft, yet the normal and spec layers are divided into 4, one for each wing and one for each the front and rear of the fuselage. I get the P-51 as it has a template for each of these parts but this is somewhat different. Im using GIMP, is there a trick to painting the overall aircraft, then cutting up the livery into 4 parts?
  5. This reminded of IL2. While the game might be long dead since the demise of CoD this method of adjustment is nearly identical. So I searched around for the old settings I used to use in IL2 and found this: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&op=show&kid=261 In it is the old IL2 slider adjustment system with several examples. From the link: "The actual settings that work best vary depending on what joystick you're using, what aircraft you're flying and what your personal preferences are. To give you an idea how much they vary, here are a few examples: Oleg Maddox: Roll: 1 3 6 12 21 32 44 61 81 100 Pitch: 1 4 8 15 24 33 44 60 77 100 Yaw: 0 10 19 32 43 54 63 74 86 100 crazyivan1970: Roll: 27 38 52 63 69 75 83 88 93 100 Pitch: 28 44 55 62 70 79 88 93 96 100 Yaw: 29 40 48 57 66 76 86 93 95 100 plus 7 deadband. The Author: Roll: 13 21 28 39 53 65 77 88 96 100 Pitch: 22 28 37 45 54 65 77 88 97 100 Yaw: 35 41 48 56 67 76 82 89 95 100 As a starting point, the author suggests the following: Roll: 1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 Pitch: 1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 Yaw: Leave it at default for the time being." I am using a very mildly tweaked version of the great Oleg's settings with great success in the 190, 109, and P-51. Hope these are useful.
  6. Hi all, Ive been making some 109/P-51 skins for our group and would like to start on the 190, but I cant seem to find the current 3 part template. Anyone got a link?
  7. Any chance for implementation into the WW2 modules?
  8. Im looking at the M-2000C.lua in DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\M-2000C I don't see the lines {CLSID = "{FC23864E-3B80-48E3-9C03-4DA8B1D7497B}", arg_value = 0.15 }, -- Magic R.550 Now I DO see: {CLSID = "{MMagicII}", arg_value = 0.15, required = {{station = 9,loadout = {"{MMagicII}"}}} }, -- Matra Magic R.550 Is this where I'm supposed to drop the AIM-9 line? Ive done it, and I get the option to load them, but I cant make them lock or fire.
  9. Now now, hold on, I ask because I actually have some experience with the Ma Deuce. I've shot up more bongo trucks, Opels and Toyota Hilux than I can count with the old girl and that using primarily AP ammo types. I understand that these are obviously not 109's but they do use 87 octane, as I believe our 109 does and are lightly built un-armored tin cans as the 109 was. Never, not once, did I or any of those in my platoon who also used the .50 ever set anything on fire with API or APIT. I've simply never seen it ignite anything. Does that mean it's impossible? Hardly, but I don't think it's the cure all that so many seem to think it would be. It's great ammo for shooting up brdm or bmp type vehicles, and it'll even punch through a tank all the way to the turret ring if you shoot it in the ass, but its destructive power is simply not even in the realm of what a 20mm can do. It just punches .510 inch holes in anything it hits. So don't jump to conclusions, let's all play nice and realize that the APIT isn't magical or explosive. It's just an armor piercing bullet.
  10. I'm not sure what difference you think the API would add over standard AP, or even ball ammo when it comes to lightly constructed, almost entirely aluminum aircraft. Care to elaborate? The API doesn't instantly ignite things into exploding balls of flame.
  11. Just started flying the Kurfurst so in for updates on this.
  12. Where the heck do you get them? KB seems always oos.
  13. Anyone else get a disappearing head rest in the mig 29 with this? Otherwise its perfect for me
  14. Amen! Vive L'mirage!
  15. Did not read the whole thread but I will say Battle of France! Curtiss hawks, mb152s, Hurris and Emil-1. Further, Id be willing to pay for a promise of NO PAC THEATER! A fighter with carrier equipment is like a chick with outdoor plumbing.
  16. Let's worry about the F15 when the SU27 model finally makes it into the mid 1990s.
  17. So we have an SU27 from 1989, and an F15 from 2003? Is that about right?
  18. I don't notice any issues until between 11000 and 12000 meters, with a full combat load that is.
  19. One wouldn't think so.
  20. I just did. Don't mean to revive a dead thread but I just ran the same mission 5 times, in which the F4 had no countermeasures. 4 times launched at max range and missile impacted. The time that it didn't impact the second one did launched just before the second post. So I guess the chaff is just that good.
  21. Ok still playing around, but the R77 seem to have a MUCH higher kill rate. I noticed though that when I fired one 77, and then I fired a second several seconds later, the first seemed to go off the rails as soon as the second was launched. Do these radars support multiple missiles toward the same target, or am I cutting my guidance to each missile when I fire a new one?
  22. I don't expect them to perform as they say on paper, but I do expect a missile to impact a target at visual ranges, and when it doesn't I get confused. Should I just plan on no missiles making contact? Im going to go play with the mig and r77 for a while.
  23. I will happily, however it seems that range cant be the sole issue to me. I launched 4ER. 2 between the first and second post of the launch que on on the hud, and two between the second and third, trying to get a good spread of ranges. ER1=30 miles ER2=21 miles ER3=17 miles ER4=15 miles For a rocket that is supposed to have a range of 35 miles? This seems unacceptable! Then launched 2 ET ET1=8 miles ET2=2 miles Again, this one should have a 35 mile range according to the in game encyclopedia. I understand however that these can be aspect dependent but an F4 with full afterburner should be pretty easy no? Regardless I am home now so I'm going to watch the videos posted, will get back when Im done! EDIT: Ok watched Big's video and it seems far too simple to say that you have to be withing 10 miles to achieve a kill with the R27, but it seems to be the case. Is there in fact no ordinance on the SU-27 capable of defeating fighters beyond 10 miles? EDIT 2: Tried again to get a hit at 10 miles or less, no dice. Are russian missiles just easily deceived by countermeasures?
