DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
Tirak replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The weapon performed well in testing, and the failure of the weapon when deployed was because they forgot to remove the arming pins, not because the missile wasn't good. Even if we take Iranian results with a huge grain of salt, those combat reports, combined with the testing data, say it's one hell of a missile. If you know it's coming, you can take steps to deal with it, but when you've been launched on from 60nm, the odds of you know it's coming aren't all that great, and by the time the seeker goes active, it's pretty much too late. Also to the "NOT MUH REALISM" crowd, relax, no one was suggesting that in this thread, he was merely saying we needed either more new modules with better weapons, or aircraft already capable of carrying better missiles should get them. -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
Tirak replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Highly likely. There are servers that ban bloody R3Rs >_> so the odds of a missile capable of locking you up and being fired without you knowing about it from 80nm away not being banned are low, very low. By the time they go active and you get your first warning, they're 8nm away and at Mach 5 plunging down from above with a very large warhead. Good luck dodging. -
M-2000C for DCS World by RAZBAM - Available for Pre-Purchase
Tirak replied to MemphisBelle's topic in M-2000
I look forward to following the development over the next few months, but I won't be preordering. I've seen this flight model game play out twice before and I'm not about to play it again here. Maybe RAZBAM is different, but I'm not up to roll the dice anymore on this. Best of luck, and when the flight model is done I'll take another look. Cheers. -
The Mirage's radar is much better than the MiG-21, it is leaps and bounds superior, but the plane is outmatched compared to the F-15C in a BVR match.
-
RAZBAM=/=Leatherneck Each company is going to come to its own standard as to what weapons to develop. While I agree, it should get the weapon, that's a discussion the team is going to have to make internally.
-
No, you're not wrong, but the thing to remember is the Mirage 2000C is primarily an air to air fighter. You can cart LGBs, but you do not have a pod to designate. You potentially could see a SEAD missile, but that is under debate as it was never actualy fielded. It also technically can carry Exocet. This will be about as capable of ground attack as the MiG-21, maybe a bit more accurate, but the 2000 isn't a mud mover. Later upgrades drastically enhanced its abilities to do things like that, but this version is not one of them. If you're waiting for a precision ground attack plane, wait for LNs F-14 or Viggen. This aircraft will do great on server 80s nights, and fighting against enemy ground attack aircraft and the MiG-21. It is outclassed by F-15s, but it'll be more than capable of fighting them if the pilot fights smart.

Well it's a delta, all deltas have that problem.

No, the Mirage 2000C S-5 does not use MICA. CCRP can be done with radar, which the Mirage has.

B-b-but i just got done switching all of the missions my clanmates play to work with the Corsair  Aw well, i guess that just means i'll have an excuse to tweak them more. Glad to see development continues, the mod is a ton of fun to play with.

VEAO has how many planes listed on their planned roster? They've got how many additional forum sections for other aircraft. I think you might not be looking at this quite as dispassionately as you should. While I agree, talking about other modules like the harrier is premature, given the context of the other third parties, I don't understand the hostility towards RAZBAM.
-
I won't go into the FSX aspect, since I don't care, but frankly, I don't see how comparing them is insulting at all. LN and BST have released full modules, VEAO and AvioDev have not. If anything, VEAO and AvioDev should be sweating bullets because if RAZBAM finishes their Mirage before either company manages to finish their far more simplistic trainers, that certainly sends an interesting message to the community as to what they're demonstratively capable of.
-
In what context? Right now, there are only two 3rd Party Developers who have actually released a full product. Belsimtek, which is made up of former ED employees and enjoys a special relationship with ED, and Leatherneck, who released the MiG-21. VEAO hasn't released a fully flight modeled Hawk despite releasing it last year, and AvioDev's C-101 has the same issue. Polychop, a fan made mod product that went pro has a better chance of releasing a module before either of those planes get done. Frankly, RAZBAM doesn't seem that far behind the curve when looked at in that light. If they release this year, which they have stated repeatedly they will, it will be the second post 1960s fixed wing aircraft released to be complete, which would actually put them ahead of the game. It's all relative.

Leatherneck Simulations Mini-Update - SEPTEMBER 2015
Tirak replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Two things work against it though. 1: VEAO initially announced an A-4C Skyhawk, but shortly after had to cancel it due to an inability to come to a sufficiently profitable licensing agreement. I would be skeptical that LN would be able to get better terms. 2. RATO is already in the game in the form of the MiG-21's SPRDs, so it's not a unique propulsion system. -
At the end of the day so much of the whining about the performance comes down to statements like this. Assumptions, insinuations and innuendo. No concrete facts. No understanding of the process. Just the latest in the sensationalized clickbait from bloggers with even less of a clue spouting their vitriol about something that will bring the gullible running to look at their ads. These are the same people who called the F-22 a flop, the Abrams worthless and the Eagle a hopelessly over complicated lemon.

Trees don't have a collision mesh, though I don't ever recall that being an issue for buildings. The new Nevada map will have collision meshes for trees so you can crash into them at your hearts content. There is no dynamic campaign provided officially, but the user created Guardians of the Caucasus for the MiG-21Bis is a dynamic campaign, and where there's one, there will eventually be more. Also, there are quite a few multiplayer "battle maps" that feature capturing airbases and working off depletable supplies if you're willing to fly with others.
-
Half baked how, please expand for those of us not intimately familiar with the plane.
-
I am genuinely surprised that no one has either announced or started making a Crusader. It's beloved by the fighter community, it's reasonably simple, and sufficiently old so it's not classified.

Leatherneck Simulations Mini-Update - SEPTEMBER 2015
Tirak replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Sepecat Jaguar :megalol: Nah, it's still the Viggen and the Corsair -
Yes, what you're missing is the fact that LN has in the past extrapolated capability in the interest of enhancing the module. If they hadn't, I wouldn't argue in favor of the AMRAAM, but they have, so that makes it a possibility, and until they flat out say they won't do it, I'll continue to advocate it.
-
Your databus according to Global Security.Org is equipped on the F-14B.
-
That is the modification I'm talking about Silver :ermm: A single data bus and a conversion card or two isn't exactly a major overhaul, especially not when compared to Grom integration on a Sapphire Radar set. The navy opted instead to upgrade its tomcats to use LANTIRN because it was retiring the A-6 fleet, but the upgrade was both planned and very much possible. Again, arguing that it is impossible is false. The F-14 was the test aircraft for the AMRAAM and had fired it on multiple occasions. The argument isn't that it can't do it. EDIT: Also http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/f-14-systems.htm
-
I'm not saying anything about field deployment, in this whole discussion I do not assert that the AMRAAM was used in military service by the Tomcat, I don't dispute that fact. My point is that the aircraft can be modified in a sufficiently minor way to utilize the weapon, that it is physically capable of doing so, and therefore, building on decisions made in the past by LN (i.e. integration of the Grom on the MiG-21) that an argument can be made for the integration of the AMRAAM on the F-14 module. Arguments towards the capability are false, the aircraft has the capability with minor modification. The argument is whether or not that it is acceptable to extrapolate some capability for the sake of gameplay and overall fun. Some say yes other say no, and until LN weighs in, neither opinion holds particularly greater merit than the other.
-
The point is the aircraft is clearly capable of using them.
