That would be good for a helicopter

I have a fighterstick. I wonder if you could open it up and take out the centering springs?

Su-25 - Best unguided anti-tank weapon? For Abrams tank
panzerd18 replied to panzerd18's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
I can confirm, eight pylons loaded with 32 FAB-100, attack run made at 2000m diving in with ripple of 0.3 seconds. Managed to knock out 3-4 tanks on average and sometimes 5 without taking any return fire. -

What is the correct anti-tank cluster bomb to use? There are a few options with different bomblet sizes. -
Congratulations ttaylor!

Isn't it cancelled due to licencing issues? Boeing wanted too much to licence it.

Su-25 - Best unguided anti-tank weapon? For Abrams tank
panzerd18 replied to panzerd18's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
I actually equipped with 8 FAB-500 and released all down the entire column. Delay set at 0.4. I found they could land very close and it still wasn't enough to destroy the Abrams. Other than a direct hit, I don't think FAB-500 is a good enough idea. -
Kit brewer myself. Started dry hopping too. Will continue until I get bored.

I have set up a few missions were I have tried to destroy a long line of Abrams tanks with unguided rockets and bombs. My results were most disappointing. Giving myself one pass the most I was able to do is destroy 2 Abrams. What would be the best tactic and weapon to destroy a convoy of heavy tanks on a road with the Su-25 using unguided weapons for one pass only?

Yes this is for the 104th server. I have found if you have no IFF system, then it really is guessing if you're going to shoot a friendly or not. Because both sides fly both aircraft types its just impossible. At the moment on that server the Su-25 cannot use its air to air missiles in anger unless seriously risking a team kill.

Can't wait to go past Mach 2.1 and blow the engine.

When there is AAA and IR SAM in the area I destroy one target per pass. I have been playing around with launching missile outside of their computed range and managing good success. You need to override the launch authorization and you will find all of them can still impact target by firing outside of their envelope. Too far away and the missile will lose its energy and fall short though. Once you are sure all AAA and IRSAM is taken out I do two targets per run. Set up towards the target with combat flaps and maintain a slow speed (this allows for a slower closure rate to target and keep you at a safer distance), keep IR Jammer engaged anywhere over combat area, start dispense of countermeasures before missile impact and when starting your turn away. Keep dispensing until you know you're outside SAM/radar guided AAA range. The Su-25A is quite hard as it doesn't have the same stand off capability as the Su-25T.

For some reason the Mig-27 has started to grow on me.

Su-25 Cruise power setting / best rate of climb speed
panzerd18 replied to panzerd18's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
I've settled on 450 km/h climb speed -
Hello, is there any possible way systems wise to IFF before you fire off your heat seeking missile? Playing online when both Russian and Western aircraft are available to both sides, its hard to know if that aircraft is indeed friend or foe. If there is no IFF system, then I will just have to get closer and look for the markings to get a positive id.

Really looking forward to these.

Is TRACKIR 5 A Must for DCS?
panzerd18 replied to Synergy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For me, I couldn't play without it. It can be used in a large range of simulation games and I am happy with the purchase price considering how much usage I will continue to have with it. The immersion you get by being able to move your head and look around the cockpit is unlike any other. The only thing that will trump it in the future will be the occulus rift virtual reality glasses. -
So fantastic, what a great module.

[RESOLVED] Cruise performance not realistic
panzerd18 replied to TurboHog's topic in Flight Dynamics
If this is the case then I was working from the wrong assumption that service ceiling was in 100% military power only. I can achieve the 17,800m service ceiling no problem with afterburner. From my testing I could also achieve 12,000m service ceiling with 100% military power no problem. So it seems there is actually no problem if service ceiling includes the use of afterburner. -

Just did another test. At 100% military power the Bis can barely maintain 14,000m. So I would say in my test the absolute ceiling is somewhere just over 14,000m, when it should have a service ceiling of at least 15,000m with an absolute ceiling somewhere even higher. This is with around 1000kg of fuel left. -
I think its finished. Being relegated to mod status is proof enough for me its gone.

I agree. I wonder how the Eurofighter is going to be modeled and I fear the same situation.

Mig-17 over Vietnam Yeah!

Not sure if this is the same issue. This may be a bug, with afterburner turned off by the switch by the left of the throttle, at military power the afterburner sound effect cuts in and out without afterburner being lit. Also the exhaust gas temperature gauge fluctuates with the sound effect as if the afterburner is turning on and off continuously.

You need to fly the aircraft with landing power all the way onto the runway. Maintain 350-320 km/h on approach, keep the power setting over the threshold and flare and let it sit down. Once gear touch reduce to idle and hit the drag chute. You should touch down under 300km/h using this method as speed will wash off as you round out and flare.
