Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025)
Captain Orso replied to plusnine's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I wonder if ED couldn't/wouldn't grant the A-4E troop access to the SDK as an exceptionally dedicated and talented organization. It wouldn't put money directly into their Swiss banque accounts, but it would help make the DCS offerings fuller and more vibrant. -
But I can't get it to work with either A-4E-C nor the VNAO_T45

Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
Captain Orso replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
No, the FAC JTAC follows targets smoothly. There is however no documentation on how to use it properly, and it is not so straight forward. I was playing around with it, having it lase a group of targets. I had just killed the first, when on the radio I immediately hear "switch" -- within a fraction of a second of the first target being hit (very easy to overhear) -- , and in the TGP I see that a new target is being lased (I'm in Hornet and LSTing so the TGP is following where it sees the laser). Then I fired a second laser Maverick at the new target and suddenly I hear on the radio "abort abort abort". and I have no idea why. Then you have to go through the handing of the run-in again "I'm running in", "laser on" etc. It works, but it's more work to get it to work, and after a dozen years, you'd think it ought to work perfectly by now and be documented into the last detail, but..... -
Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
Captain Orso replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Well, I spoke too soon. I did some more testing. Although the change does have the updates occuring much quicker, and the lasing trying to lead the target, if the target is faster than about 10 mph, even the 1 second delay is enough for the laser to be off target nearly all of the time and very often for the bomb/maverick to miss the target, at time, substantially. -

AutoLase is only updating about every 15 seconds. Target is a column of tanks moving over open ground. The autolasing unit is not targeting the first element in the columns -- which is coincidentally the closest -- and once lasing starts, it points to the ground where the target was, but only updates again after 15 seconds. CTLD never stuck to the moving target vehicle like native JTAC does, but now with moving targets are just driving away while the JTACing unit just lases the open ground for 15 seconds. In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
Captain Orso replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
1. They keyboard that someone added to SP inputs ONLY INTO SP, unless I am completely misinformed. It is a mod of the "standard" SP package. 2. If you want a virtual keyboard that inputs into the ME and the in-client cockpit, then you will need a different app, and I have no idea if it is even possible. it's about the same situation that you can use <Ctrl><C> -> <Ctrl><V> to copy text from one overlay within the ME to another overlay within the ME; it only works bc ED implemented it to work. But you cannot copy text into the in-cockpit UFC with the running client. If you guys want a virtual keyboard which would allow you to input into the ME or in-cockpit anywhere you could input text with the Windows keyboard, you will have to search outside of this thread, aside from using it to contact the guy who added the keyboard to SP. I understand you request, but you're barking up the wrong tree. -

Captain Orso replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
I fly VR, but I always have a keyboard within reach. IF I edit a mission in VR (seldom, bc graphics in VR... suck), I still have no idea what keyboard input you really nead. BORT numbers? Anyway, the keyboard in SP is only for input directly into an SP page, and not into anything in the ME. That won't work. Then just turn off the hidden status in the ME and the issue is solved. I don't get it. It's like scratching the left ear with the right foot. -

Captain Orso replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
The whole point of the SP is to quickly and easily grab the coordinates of a point on the map for using in-cockpit, like creating waypoints. Since the last excellent update which lets you copy the coordinates onto the SP with a single click, work has become SOOOO much easier. But in the ME what would you do with the coordinates other than create a waypoint? -

What is Allowed and What is Not Allowed?
Captain Orso replied to Mike Force Team's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Yeah, that sounds like this community. Always a few loud, unruly types ruining it for everyone else. Always those same, dang idiots. My god, you could put them all in an elevator and shoot with a sawed-off and not hit a wrong one!! To quote Lewis Black, "Son-Of-A-B...." what? Okay Mom. K gotta go cu. -
Yes, "Saved Games" is a hard-coded Windows entity, found in the users home folder (the folder with the same name as the user's user-id (name), "ROUJANSKY" in this case. Marcstrasm, you will most likely find your home folder on your system disk, where Windows is installed; eg "C:\Users\ROUJANSKY". Navigate to there to find the Windows "Saved Games", which is where many games place their user-specific files, including DCS. You will find a folder there named "DCS" or "DCS.openbeta" or both, depending on which DCS you have installed.

What is Allowed and What is Not Allowed?
Captain Orso replied to Mike Force Team's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Mentioning other, similar products can be very helpful when talking about strengths and weaknesses. A picture is worth a thousand words, so-to-say. So saying, I wish DCS offered the same ability to run missions like in such-n-such a game, without having to spell out each and every aspect of what on misses in DCS. Simply throwing chides out like "product X is soOOoo much better than DCS " is not actually comparing products. It's just expressing an opinion, regardless of how useless or unfactual it is. ED doesn't allow the former to, IMHO, prevent the latter. -

Or if you are still on the F10 map, click outside of the scratchpad window to shift the focus off the SP. I'm not sure if this works in the cockpit. -
8< "... PP mode works as long as you take the time ..", PP mode works ONLY IF you take the time. Otherwise I completely agree. The question is, does the system allow for directly feeding a markpoint's date into the station, thus allowing for collecting a set of markpoints and setting up quasi PP missions, or does the system only allow for deploying one weapon at a time, while using the TGP to directly provide the target coordinates? Apparently, this used to be possible, but currently is not.

It is multiple targets. You program the JDAMs as if they were pre-planned (all targets must be located so that each JDAM can reach its target from the single launch point). Put 4 targets on TOO1 and set the weapons to release to STA2, STA3, STA7, and STA8, and when in range, a single pressing of weapon release will release all four, and each of them will guide themselves to their own target. I've done it multiple times.

If you have HPTP boxes, when you switch to BOL, HPTP will immediately become unboxed.

correct as is Aircraft & Fuel tank skin issue
Captain Orso replied to skywalker22's topic in Wish List
In the Mission Editor, you and a fuel tank and then select a skin with a texture specific to the selected livery, the livery specific texture for the fuel tank will be shown. If you then -- without leaving the ME loadout panel -- change the skin, the tank texture will NOT change; it remains the same as the previous skin. To get he livery specific texture, you must then remove and then re-add the tank. WAD? Then please design it to work logically. -
Many thanks for the replies! I thought I was going insane; I've been trying to figure this out for so many hours. I saw this video DCS DEAD Demonstration - F/A-18C JDAM manual LOFT and was trying to follow his example; but it's a really bad video for learning *ugh* and even though it was from Jan 2021, it's already broken, and I have yet to see a word on it even been acknowledged as being broken. smh EDIT: To make the multi-target attack per pickle work, you simply need to use PP mode. You first make all the markpoints you need, Then you go into the J-82 page and program all the PP targets in: Designate markpoint 1 [so you can read the lat/lon from the TGP page], enter lat/lon/elv into PP1/STA8, dgnt mp2, enter PP1/STA2, dgnt mp3, enter PP1/STA7, dgnt mp4, enter PP1/STA3, Qty: select all 4 stations. Dgnt mp5, enter PP2/STA8, dgnt mp6, enter PP2/STA2, dgnt mp7, enter PP2/STA7, dgnt mp8, enter PP2/STA3, Qty: select all 4 stations. Use MSI to coordinate your JDAM attacks, selecting PP1 or PP2 as required. Caveat: entering the coordinates will take a long time, and is prone to mistakes

Is this really what passes as WAD? How can I SEE that a station/mission has for an assigned target? Could someone please post a concise, step-for-step list of instructions on how to program each weapon on each station for each mission, using markpoints, so that for example I can select quantity 4/TOO1 pickle to drop the first four bombs on their four unique targets, then switch to TOO2 and drop the next four bombs on their four unique targets.

How Do You Glue the Mouse Pointer + to the White •

Thanks for the reply. I have an Oculus Rift CV1. Pressing <Esc> opens the main menu with choose slot, choose side, options, settings, etc. -
The wings are being replace because they are old and the AF wants to re-ferbish the A-10s for many years of additional use. It's part of a modernisation program in which the A-10s get a glass cockpit and new avionics. Otherwise the A-10s would have to be pulled from use and scrapped. It has nothing to do with the wings having been overloaded. I can use 120 points to buy weapons. GBU's cost 30 points each. AGM-65's also cost 30. Mk-82's cost nothing, as so ZUNE's and other unguided rockets. Basically, all guided munitions and cluster munitions are either forbidden or limited. Of course I could put 3 GBU's on one station and 1 on a second, but I'd really like to stay close to a clean loadout, and not being able to put only 2 GBU's on one stations is illogical and just irks the hell out of me... and I'm not going to talk about it anymore, because it just gets my blood up. I worked over 35 years in IT, including as an application programmer and developer. If I'd been so incapable at fixing simple things as this in a timely fashion, I'd have been taxi driver for 25 years.
