  1. Keep on going...hopefully they will ban your sorry arse eventually!
  2. Yeah. Thats what I suspected too. In a modern battle field almost everything is data linked one way or another! ;)
  3. Your post is rude and completly uncalled for! Next time this happens I will consider reporting it or putting you on ignore! Be careful!
  4. Ok. I understand what you mean but in RL would it not send targeting data to sams, aaa and other ground forces by data link as well? That was my initial question anyway. Since I am mainly an a2g pilot I am not aware of the data linking to fighters using gci but what you say makes perfect sense!
  5. Hi. What exactly are the functions of ewr in real life and how do they differ in lomac/fc? For example, do sam and aaa units receive this info directly from data link or is this information sent only to military headquarters? In lomac/fc, ewr seems useless. It does track aircraft at a 200-400km radius but is that all it is meant to do?
  6. Nothing is as bad as nagging betty!
  7. Unless your flying on a dedicated a2g server, flying a bombing mission with no air support is really a one way ticket suicide mission unless you get very lucky. Sooner or latter some a2a jock will spot you and your history. As far as ecm jamming, use it sparingly and only if you suspect some radar emmiter is painting you, whatever that threat may be. Your rwr will provide this info so monitor carefully. IR jamming can be and should be used more often. It's purpose is to prevent ir attacks from the rear. I don't think it provides any protection from frontal ir attacks but I could be wrong. Someone said that ir jamming makes target identification easier for the enemy but I don't think its possible unless the enemy is really close in which case you would be spotted anyway so there is no point in not using it! The best way to defeat a sam system is to go as low as possible. The best way to defeat aaa is to go high. Problems start arising when both are used in a mission and are relatively close together making weapon choice and points of ingression a real challenge. Always study the mission briefing in full detail before taking off...especially when flying online!
  8. I would like to see AH-64A and KA-50 in the same DCS series so we can compare and enjoy both.
  9. I maybe inexperienced but at least I don't take off from taxi ways or shoot down my leading wingman as some so-called experts do! :P Don't the squads teach that stuff in flying 101?:D And don't tell me this stuff never happens on hl servers because that WOULD BE LYING!
  10. I suggest you do the following and preferrably in this order: 1)read the book 2)practise the tuturials 3)read the lomac encyclopedia and learn/memorize as many units as possible 4)learn the mission editor 5)create small and easy missions for practise 6)when you feel comfortable go online. Unfortunately for us "noobs" the hardcore simmers run the show. They own the servers and do as they please...bad news if your a begineer, intermediate, advanced or anything in between! 7)be patient...no one became an expert over night! Alternatively you can join a squad and let them 'teach you the ropes' if thats your cup of tea. Off course, they would probably prefer if you at least know the basics...like flying straight and level, landings, communications, aircraft specifics, basic a2g and/or a2a knowledge, etc. As far as your questions can you be more specific as to who is shooting you down?! Is it sam, aaa or other aircraft? Are you attempting to fly online or offline? What missions? Your post was way too vague and therefore I cannot really help you!
  11. What is the memory value of your video card and does it share memory with other hardware? I would say a 256mb card is almost mandatory for good performance. I have learned not to trust the software manufacturer's 'minimum requirements' unless you don't mind below average performance.:D I also happen to agree that a lot of the codding has been rushed resulting in memory leaks and poor overall game performance. I am no programmer but the facts speak for themselves!
  12. Ok. My bad judgement! After studying the lomac encyclopedia and playing the mission again I realised that the Tors were painting me...not the strella or shilka. They were about 5-10kms behind front lines and recessed on the other side of a hill making observation/identification very difficult from a low altitude.
  13. How are you using two video cards? By looking at the data you provided I don't see this. All I see is that you are using 2 amd processors, each running at 1808 Mhz. I also see that your ram is 1GB and I am guessing you have paged another 2GB of hard disk to virtual memory. This is ok but virtual memory, because of relativly slow data transfer rate between hard drive and cpu, will eventually slow down your graphics performance after playing for a long time. I think(but I am relativly sure) virtual memory is used only after physical memory(ram) is used. I think you are better off to unpage this virtual memory back to xp/vista default and simply add another stick of ram to get 2GB ram. Alternatively, set graphics to low and get a good fps. I also use 1GB ram because I cannot upgrade my laptop...it is a 3 yr old system!;) I would not bother shutting down processes unless you are a computer expert. Too many things can go wrong if you accidently shut down the wrong ones including corrupting your windows installation and having to reinstall everything! Also, please tell us the make and model of your graphics card so we can get a better picture of your system. Are you using the latest video and sound drivers? What version of DirectX? There are many factors to consider.
  14. Well, well...what do we have here? I always thought that my computer was at fault but as others are acknowledging some scipt takes over and stalls the game. By the way, this does happen quite often and not just when the plane is going to stall...quite annoying for sure! As far as reduced g's vs realistic g's I will agree reduced is better. Realism is nice but not to the point where the sim becomes unplayable. Now, if some servers would at least allow labels, particulary in a2g missions where you need a hud telescope to see manpads and small shorad units, then that would really make my day enjoyable!
  15. Are you sure the strela-10 ranging radar is not modeled in lomac/fc? When flying the ukranian anti-artillery mission(built-in mission) I get locked-on well before shilka range which is approximately 2-3km range. In other words, I think it tracks around 15-20km's out and its quite lethal! I am going to check lomac/fc encyclopedia later and update any relevant info.
  16. I don't believe this is the case Weta43. I have flown the su-25/t on many occassions and it appears not to recognize certain aaa or shorad. For example the shilka and strella(both versions). The way I know it is because it doesn't give you any reference in the hud. When you slew the phantasmagoria on the target and attempt to get a lock absolutely nothing happens because the marker moves freely within the hud. I am quite suprised that no one else has noticed it! Cheers.
  17. Ok. I see your point! Thanks.
  18. Something I noticed recently while attacking ground targets is that the phantasmagoria pod does not recognize the shilka aaa and strella short range sam. It does recognize most of the medium and long range sams such as tor, patriot, buk, kub..etc. Whats the best way to deal with the shilka and strella since going in close spells doom and bombing must be done 3000 meters agl? I was flying the ukranian anti-artillery mission in 1.12b but I can't get close enough to do any real damage. In contrast the ai mig-27k's have no problem...as soon as they line up they start barrel rolling, releasing flares/chaff and dodge aaa and sam missiles. I really don't get it! Does releasing chaff/flares require good timing such as missile launch warning or release at regular intervals? When is the best time to barrel roll and what impact does this have on sam/aaa radar? I am looking for details so be precise!;)
  19. If the plane turns enough then the camera's field of view will un-snap causing you to lose target lock!
  20. Very good point. The auto-pilot becomes even more usefull when your flight controls experience 'ghost spikes' and you end up spending more time trimming the plane rather than engaging targets!
  21. As far as I know, the only true 'fire and forget' weapons are anti-radiation missiles. They 'home-in' by themselves without any assistance from the launching platform. All tv guided bombs and missiles require that the shikval targeting system(tv camera to be more precise)has locked on the target and the target remains within the camera's gimbal limits. In other words, you can't do a 180 degree turn after weapon launch and still expect to get a kill.
  22. The B-2 and F-117 don't need to fly at '189 billion feet' because they are stealth. I doubt conventional sam radar or manpads have any reasonable chance of tracking them...much less getting a lock! Off course, this stuff is highly classified so no one really knows all the details other than 'people in the know'. Actually, with gps guided munitions bombings and CAS have taken a whole new different meaning. They can bomb from higher altitude and avoid AAA while still being highly accurate. The usaf is light years ahead of other countries when it comes to high tech.
  23. What is CEP? Circular error probability. Sorry, I am not good with acronyms. I agree its not a precision plane as such but with practice 'targeting system having 0 CEP' becomes not such a big issue unless dropping from very high altitude(which I assume is your 'cup of tea') and it happens to be very windy and/or the visibility is poor.
  24. The su-25t has more smart weapon capabilities and is better suitable for armor attacks but other than that I can't agree that it is better than the su-25a. From a manueverability perspective, the su-25a and a-10a are much preferrable. Try doing split-s and immelman with su-25t. I am not saying its impossible... I am saying its much tougher. Period!
  25. I think the su-25a is the best 'all-around' a2g plane, at least in this game. The su-25t and a-10a are better suited for armor attacks but also do reasonably well in other a2g departments. It all depends on what your primary objectives are. I think a lot of people get turned off because of the simple hud design. They are overly used to being fed all relative info within the hud. It goes against what they know so obviously the su-25a would get labeled as a "ww2 plane"...absolute bs!
