  1. Just out of curiousity, what does the 'smooth' input field correspond to? It ranges from 0 to max..what is ideal? Also, why JoyRange=1024? Is this value relevant to screen resolution in any way, shape or form? My screen resolution is 1024x768.
  2. Thanks for the answer...thats what I thought too!
  3. Install the latest patch which is 1.12b. Be careful that you select the correct version depending if fc is english or russian and/or download or cd version. Very important! Also, make sure you practice the tuturials before you install the patch because they will not playback correctly once the patch is installed.
  4. Unless someone has a static ip banning is not an option nor is banning an a ip range because anyone else using the same isp will not be able to play on that server. I heard the best way to ban someone is to send a user rootkit that causes a dos attack but I think this is illegal. They actually did this to me at one site but I think it was cia sponsered/operated so they get away with it!
  5. So, is their anyway to control small caliber rocket salvos with the salvo knobs or they just for bombs in the inner pylons? For example, if I select a weapon quantity of 2 and a time delay interval of 2ms between successive weapon release what will happen in the case of a b-5, b-8 or b-13? Will 2 rockets fire from each pod, from one pod, or what???
  6. Unfortunately, I don't have WinRar or any other rar decoding/playback software installed on my system so I can't view the track...in fact I think its pay software! I believe you dude. It just seems strange something like this can be done with finger pressure(lol)...a bit unorthodox wouldn't you agree?:D I am looking for a more conventional solution such as adjusting salvo knobs as you would with bombs...more of a text book approach!:smilewink:
  7. As far as I know you can only drop single munitions from the four inner pylons of the plane to avoid excessively unbalancing the plane. What I still have not been able to figure out is how to control how many rockets get fired per salvo...I am talking about the smaller caliber rockets such as b-5's, b-8's and ub-13. Especially with the 5 ub-13 rockets per pod I would prefer to fire half in one pass and the rest in another pass but afaik they all fire at once?
  8. When your flying with a damaged wing, one engine or an unbalanced payload the plane usually is banked and yaws to the weak side. I don't know if it is possible to stay 'straight and level' under these circumstances even when using the auto-pilot. The autopilot usually cross controls the plane resulting in a slight drift to either side.
  9. Hi. I assume most people have had instances where either the aircraft weight was unbalanced due to a assymetrical weapon release or a partially damaged wing from combat. Whats the best way to counter-act the assymetrical forces(especially in slow flight) for each circumstance? Normally, I raise the lowered aileron but that usually causes the plane to yaw in the opposite direction somewhat. Would it be better to use more rudder trim than aileron trim? I have practiced this in MSFS to some degree but it seems tough.
  10. Your computer system is very good but regardless I wouldn't go higher than medium. This game, and most simulators, are usually built for the future...in other words you will get the best performance many years from now. I also believe some of the coding was rushed but again thats typical of most software manufacturers trying to beat the deadline.
  11. I wish I could jettison weapon pairs of my choice instead of from out-to-in. This added functionality would really improve the game. Unwittingly dropping the wrong weapon(and I have done this way too often) is beyond frustrating...its like commiting suicide!
  12. I believe a ton of ram combined with a great graphics card is more important than cpu power and/or operating system.
  13. Going "full stealth" involves much more than just giving it a radar absorbing coating. The geometry of the plane itself is very important so whatever radiation escapes absorption gets deflected away from the emitter rather than back to it. Other factors that make a plane(or whatever object) stealth are low sound emissions and a low infrared signature. Technically speaking when we say stealth we mean 'can only be detected at short range'...whatever that may be!
  14. Hmm. This is somewhat irrellevent but since the AO canister holds mines and the PTAB bomblets that means that they probably don't weigh the same in relation to each other and cause someone to fly unbalanced when used interchangeably. Is this true in FC? Also, does flying unbalanced have any effect on the weapons control system?
  15. Merry christmas and a happy 2008!
  16. A lot of details could be improved but most importantly fixing the tuturials after each patch release would really make my day. Yes, some or all of the tuturials have been converted to video format but they are so large that for dial up users its hopeless!
  17. I hope you don't expect to become a a2a ace just by reading the manual and practicing the tuturials. At most you will have good foundations but thats about it. The rest is practice! Once you feel comfortable consider joining an online squad where they get into the meat and potatoes of flying into complex threat enviroments. I flew a couple of missions with ai team members offline and usually most of them got killed in bvr stage just as you mentioned. A lot depends on how a mission is setup though. Generally speaking, maneuverability suffers quite a bit at high altitudes as does acceleration but you will however get a higher mach speed eventually. You will also get a higher maximum launch range on your missiles.
  18. It's not really the processor speed that makes or breaks a game rather ram and graphics card. 1gb ram and a 256mb graphics card are almost mandatory. Anything less and you will get choppy/low quality graphics no matter what your settings are. If you recently installed the game give it about a week before deciding to reinstall it. Sometimes the game smoothes itself out by playing it again and again. If you don't notice any reasonable improvements start removing any mods you might have installed and play the game each time to see if that makes any difference. A lot of times mods do interfere with graphics and game performance. As a last resort remove everything and reinstall in the proper order: 1)Lomac cd 2)FC cd 3)patch to 1.12a/b...be careful you select the right patch because there are several versions P.S. I remember reading 'LOMAC gold' was defective and a lot of people returned the game for a refund or replacement!
  19. Sorry, I meant the Shikval targeting system...not tv monitor:doh:! Turn it on with O. Ctr-O is for LLTV and shift-O for laser rangefinder. These are the default keys so if you remapped any they would be different. I don't think its a bug because if it was everyone else would have the same problem. To be honest its hard to speculate what the problem may be but I would bet something is incompatible with something else. Either a partially faulty/corrupted installation where some aspects of the game are not working properly or you installed an add-on module which is not ultra "user friendly"...FYI I generally avoid installing mods for this reason!
  20. I don't really see any problem other then low quality graphics. Have you checked your graphical settings in the game? Its probably set to low or medium or perhaps a custom setup with water effects=low. In any case your flying relatively high so you should not expect crystal clear/high definition graphics at that altitude! By the way what are your system specs? A low end system might not be able to render high graphics even if that is what you choose.
  21. A trackir is not really necessary unless you specialize in a2a combat. I use my hat switch on the joystick and its ok. As far as hotas...well if you can afford it... good for you. From what I hear saitek is pretty good and costs a lot less.:smilewink: Just play around with your control inputs in options till you get it right. It shouldn't be too tough.
  22. The problem with kmgu submunitions is that unless your sure you won't get any return fire its a risky situation. True in lomac you know what to expect since everything is laid out in advance but in a real threat enviroment it could easily be a death drap. Even concentrated small arms fire can probably bring a plane down or at the very least cripple you to point where its rtb asap! Also, you can be sure that any tanks, apc's or other targets not destroyed will open fire like mad-men. I know bombers have some protection against small arms fire but I would prefer not to get fired at in the first place. Not to mention the stinger threat where you can get an ir missile up the tail pronto!:smilewink:
  23. Yeah it seems we have a few engineers in this forumn! What I cannot figure out however is why my rudder oscillates, or in laymen terms seldom returns to neutral, after any rudder input. In fact when I tested joystick inputs in options/input menu of the game both the rudder and throttle where oscillating somewhat by themselves...almost like ghost work! Maybe my controls are at fault...don't really know but it gets frustrating after a while...and yes I use linear input with a small dead zone.:joystick:
  24. I don't know about 'optimum maneuvering speeds for missile evasion' but too slow you stall during a high aoa turn and if your going too fast the rate of turn is usually not good enough. A lot of variables to consider but the primary are missile type(ir, sarh, arh), engagement aspect ratio and relative altitude between attacker and victim. If the missile was radar guided you will get a warning on the rwr. If it is ir you won't get any warning on rwr and unless you or someone else sees the launch your toast. Generally speaking never let the enemy sneak behind you. This is the worst that can happen in any a2a engagement and you will most definitely lose! Try to shoot down the enemy asap, preferably during bvr before the circling stunts begin. Even if you don't get a kill immediately the enemy will be on the defensive rather than the offensive...but don't maddog as some suggest. When all else fails pull the g's and take the appropriate countermeasures. A lot depends on the engagement itself. For example, it's much different on a 1 to 1 encounter from a complex multiple threat enviroment. Above all watch your rwr and get team or awacs updates if possible.
  25. I have a problem using the rudders during take off roll. As I get my speed up the su-25t has a tendency to drift from the centerline which leaves me the tendency to oversteer...sometimes to the point where I run off the runway and flip over.:( I remember reading in this forumn that the wheelbase is somewhat off-center but I didn't realise it was to this degree. Try taking off with a crosswind...a real nightmare!
