GGTharos, You keep missing the point mate. You shouldn't expect to win a war just by dropping bombs from 25000ft! You and others can carpet bomb like sissies all you want but in my book thats not called CAS. You actually have to get 'low and dirty' sometimes to finish the job...do you know what I mean?;)

I don't have .rar decoding software. Is their a zip version? Edit:I think WinAce will do the trick. Thanks -

</H1> What does this Ekran have in common with the Ekran in Lomac/Fc? -
warning light panel indicators
SoaringEagle74 replied to SoaringEagle74's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The english cockpit mod for the russian planes looks really good and will probably save me a lot of time trying to figure out what each indicator stands for. The download file has a '.rar' extension to it. I normally avoid using mods because it is hard to be sure of 100% compatibility but in this case I think I will make an exception. Tell me can I unzip this file with Winzip and how do I install. I don't have ModMan6 or any other mod utility. It says "The mod textures will be installed as a new CDDS file." Is this done automatically by an executable file or what? Many thanks Teka! -
Hi guys and gals. Where can I find an illustrative description of the warning light panel indicators for su-25 and su-25t? I don't think this stuff is covered in the manual or in any tuturial. Also, can someone tell me what the Ekran is for? Thanks.
-
Hreich, Despite what some people say I think the su-25t is one of hardest planes to fly. It requires excellent flying skills to begin with and some time to get used to its peculiraties. It is like flying a truck, especially when your used to flying high performance sports sedans such as a su-27 or su-33. My suggestion to you is learn to fly an a-10 or su-25 first so you can grab the basics of flying first then learn the t-frog. Off course, this is just my opinion. 159thViper, Welcome back. I have been looking for that graphics configuration file you told me to edit but I can't find it. No worries though because I am going to strip 1.12 and go to 1.11 where hopefully the tuturials will work correctly. I see no sense in trying to fly online with ace settings when I haven't even learned the theory properly and my computer routinely under performs in every department. Thanks for your help though. I can appreciate it!

Exactly. Now I agree 100%.:) They always try to eliminate ewr, sams, communication lines and all other vital threats asap before going cas. I'll see you later...going for dinner soon. By the way, are you greek or cypriot by any chance? Tharos is a greek word for courage.;) Giasou patrioti kai kalo kouragio.
-
Are you trying to confuse me?:D If not then you are contradicting yourself because early warning radar and sams are not shorad. However, manpads and flak(more correctly aaa) are!:P
-
Your right. Normally CAS and SEAD missions are performed by separate, specialized teams and not solo but its a game and I like to challenge myself a little.;) Thats probably because they had neutralized the ewr and sams so the only possible threat was from shorad. I am not pretending to be a general lol...all this stuff has been talked about in gulf war documentaries. I mostly agree with the above. It all depends on the mission at hand.
-
What is SHORAD and NOE? If you are trying to do a SEAD and CAS mission solo then flying low is the best option unless of course your flying stealth. If you think I am bs'ing you ask any trained real pilot. Fly at 4000 meters and a medium to high altitude sam will shread you to pieces. Fly at a medium-low altitude and aa or a manpad will get you. Remember the american u-2 spy plane shot down in russia...it was flying very high. Also, do you remember how the israeli af attacked egyptian airbases...they didn't do it by flying high! Cheers
-
An obvious reason to fly low would be to avoid being detected by sam radar and also to monitor enemy traffic while flying waypoints on a cas mission. Actually, the 1000 meter agl example I used above is a poor example because if your going to fly low then a 100m agl maximum celing would be advisable. The way I see it is ever go very low or very high. Anything in between is hot, aka "no mans land". Off course, a lot would depend on the actual mission at hand and since all sensable pilots read their briefing before take off they would know what course to follow before taking off. Also, I consider myself somewhat of a dare-devil.:D
-
Ok. Lets assume your flying at a reasonably low altitude of say 1000-1500 meters agl. Unless, that igla or stinger has been marked as a target by the mission creator(and a target marker is available in the hud) or ground labels are enabled how can you possibly see that insurgant "ant"(for lack of a better term) when your not even aware of his presence? And don't tell me I have to constantly switch between cockpit and map views because this is not very practical. The only real give away is when he shoots in front of you...right? Then if your paying close attention while flying the waypoints you bank hard left or hard right while incorporating a dive and hopefully you avoid getting rammed. By the way, in lock-on it seems they have an unlimited arsenal of missiles because when I was flying back to base after a successful mission I was fired upon again.

A few months ago I remember reading posts on other forumns to the effect that many militant groups, including militant arab groups, register through godaddy.com and that requests to have them removed from their server go largely unanswered. Don't ask me where I read it though because I really don't remember. Very sad people do this! I can see attacking conspiracy or government propaganda sites to some degree but why other sites? Does not make much sense. Seems like cyber warfare is continously getting out of control and nothing is being done about it. Thats why people and sites should always back up everything important as well as using latest av definitions, firewall, anti-spyware, etc.

So what? Should I feel less of a man because I only have about 150 offline kills? Give me a break and don't be so rude and arrogant unless you like others to treat you the same way!;) Now your lying...to the point where its not even funny. Go ahead guys and taunt all you want. I really don't give a rat's cahout anymore!
-
Thanks. Thats what I plan on doing...in fact, thats what I have been doing for over a year. Unfortunately, I don't get to play as often as I would like due to other responsibilities but eventually I should get good at it.:) Yeah. I could definitely use a better graphics card and probably a better computer but in the meantime I am just going to edit the scenery files as others have suggested.
-
If I had more computer knowledge and a few spare bucks I would certainly create my own server rather than have to beg for the obvious! Thanks for your 2 cents though.
-
I am not telling anyone how they should play so don't put words in my mouth. All I am saying, and I believe I have made myself crystal clear, is that there should be servers catering to all skill levels and not just for the elite running with super fast computers.
-
No disrespect intended but if you guys wanna fly with graphics maxxed out and realistic settings maxxed out maybe you should have joined the air force academy and be flying for real rather than pretending to know everything and locking the rest of the paying lockon clients out. Seriously, this quite disrespectful and arrogant imho! No doubt, the people who pay for the servers can do as they please but in the long run the interest for fc will die away. Another thing that is lacking in my opinion is no central fc server such as ubi had with 1.02. I simply don't have the time or interest to adapate to others likings so I think I am going to stick to offline play for the near future where I can control how I play the game.
-
Are you talking about a2a or a2g? External views simply add to the functionality of the game and make it more appealing for everyone...thats why Ubisoft and ED incorporated these options into the game! Cheating is when someone has an unfair advantage(such as using a cheating mod) over their opponent but since everyone can use these built-in functions then its definetely not cheating! Some servers lack even in the briefing department but even if its thorough and people read it its still just a briefing. You can't relly solely on a briefing to successfully finish a mission...especially if its complicated as most online missions are. So from an "ace" perspective anyone who is not an ace is a noob? Let me inform you that I have read most of the manual and practiced almost all the tuturials..at least in regard to all the planes that interest me. I have also flown over a dozen offline missions...albeit mostly easy ones. The solution is rather simple...have servers specialize in difficulty/settings so that pilots according to their skill level can pick the right missions. When someone learns to swim they are not dropped in the middle of the english channel and told to find their way home...thats idiotic and dangerous. The same applies to flying!
-
I would rather have only one installation of any game...including lomac/fc. The reason is simple: takes less disk space!:D I am hoping the tuturial and demo videos that came with FC and currently are not compatible with 1.12a/b are fixed in the next and probably last patch. If not, then I guess two installations will be necessary because I always refer back to them when learning a new plane, etc.
-
Are you sure this is ok? I don't want to corrupt the game and have to reinstall everything.;) Maybe I should make a copy of medium and high settings?
-
That would be very nice and considerate! Can you elaborate on how I can edit fc so that only low graphics will load on all servers?
-
Realism is nice but not to the point where the game becomes unplayable for a large percentage of the fc community.
-
I think you mean the small minority that usually plays on any given day...usually between 50 to 100! Are those the only people that purchased lomac and fc simulator? I think not! I am not asking for servers to change their settings just for me. All I would like to see is some consideration given to lower end users that don't like or cannot fly with everything maxed out. Thats not really asking for much!

Hi. I have tried to play flaming cliffs(v1.12b) with various servers on hyperlobby but they all seem to be misconfigured in relation to the way I like to fly! For example: 1)medium to high graphical settings; anyone with a relatively old pc, such as mine, will get a very low and choppy frame rate. Also with these settings, missions take longer than usual to load. 2)all external views are disabled; when I asked people in hl as to why they simply stated "makes the simulation more interesting"...for the record I strongly disagree!....in fact, I think it severly cripples the game! They also stated that most servers are configured in this way. 3)All aircraft, ground and naval unit labels are disabled. Gosh, maybe we should fly with our eyes covered...that will make the game even more interesting.:music_whistling: 4)'Hud only view'...well you guessed right...disabled!!! 5)Give me a break with the stinger units...they can target us but we can't target them! More importantly how can people even see them unless you switch from cockpit to map view often?! I am sure other people have similar complaints and perhaps thats why so few people play on hl on any given day. I am sure that are thousands upon thousands of lomac/fc enthousiasts such as myself but with server settings that are so "realistic" and so tilted for silicon graphic computers a lot of people just don't wanna bother! Are there any servers for casual fliers with mild and user friendly settings? Would anybody be interested in creating user friendly servers? I certainly would but my computer knowledge is limited.
