Hey ED team, I'm in desperate need of help. My Hornet freezing is getting unplayable bad recently. Could you please help me to diagnose what my issues are related to? Today when flying a proper mission in the latest update for the first time I got really bad stutters/lag/freezing. Description: After selecting the Case I instant action and flying a few passes at the carrier (no issues there) - I loaded up a mission that I have been continually working on for the past while. It has a decent amount of units involved on the PG map. - Mission starts on Carrier cold/dark with only occasional short stutters. - As mission progresses, more pronounced stutter/pausing occurs especially when pressing F7 and asking AWACS for bogey dope. - When attacking a target near Bandar Abbas the pausing gets noticeably longer (more is happening in the Sim at this stage - getting locked by SAM radars, AAA firing etc) - Then after the initial attack run the pausing appears to recover somewhat. - After dropping all bombs, proceeded over the industrial area near Bandar Abbas and the pausing becomes unplayable along with terrain textures becoming blurrier (refer to pic). Required files attached. dcs.log file is in the .zip archive. TIA DxDiag.txt LastMissionTrack.trk dcs.zip

Thanks for the replies, Turns out it was related to UAC although it was already disabled - strange. Issue resolved though. @Clem Fandango: It's very simple, you open the .lua file with notepad and edit it just like a .txt file. Change the numbers that corresponds to the CMDS program you want to alter. For example, I like to run manual programs so that I can dispense single chaff and flares with each respective push of the FWD and AFT CMDS switch. This means changing programs 'MAN1' and 'MAN5' I've attached my file so you can open it and have a look. CMDS_ALE47.lua

Hi all, Up until the latest update (15 Aug) I have been editing the 'CMDS_ALE47'.lua file in 'C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\TEWS\device' in an effort to avoid having to program my desired CMDS programs each time I start the jet. With the latest update when I try to edit the .lua file I get an 'access denied' error. Any ideas to overcome this?

Great stuff! What MP servers do you typically fly on for combat Jabbers? -
Many thanks!

Nice post and vids! Would certainly be great to see AI logic improved in the future. Huge task though!

Just wanted to throw out there that the recent update to the Persian Gulf map is absolutely amazing. Not just the addition of two airbases much deeper into Iran but the road network and towns expansion hugely increases the ability to create interesting missions on this map. The terrain is stunning and so varied, I really appreciate the work and consideration put into the PG map. Cheers

Depends on what the individual user is after! The most immersive Combat simming I've ever done has been BMS dynamic campaign missions with a large MP strike package. No need for fancy movies or voice overs - all that is needed is a realistic and dynamic scenario that requires planning, communication and that immersive feel that you don't quite know what's coming. Sadly my experiance with DCS is that there are relatively few community missions that satisfy my personal desires for highly realistic scenarios where the mission isn't scripted to death. The most fun and immersive DCS missions I've played have had replay-ability built into them and just a genuinely good, realistic scenario. Finding a balance between a well structured mission and something that is not overbearing and leaves no room for thinking outside the box by the pilot who ultimately flies the mission. Some really good examples IMO were the Red Flag A-10 campaign and missions like Bactria by Habu23 and anything by Joyride! Less is more in my opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their preference and regardless of whether you think an Instrument approach is 'boring' or not - there are members of the community who enjoy flying missions in adverse weather conditions while using realistic and appropriate procedures to recover to an airfield. I for example enjoy simulating USMC and RAAF hornet ops so my squadron mates and I would appreciate the ability to shoot a pairs ILS approach in crappy weather. ILS approaches to land bases can be quite a challenge when executed in poor weather.

+1 I'm fairly frustrated by this. I know it's early access and all but jeez I'm itchy to be able to cold start on the carrier with at least 3 other MP clients simultaneously!

Same here, had a roughly 7GB update for Update 7 and now the Update 7 - HOTFIX is also 7GB. :helpsmilie:

The exact channel for the ICLS is set in the Mission Editor by whomever has created that mission. My suggestion is to check the briefing with each different mission to fly to find the correct frequency for the Carrier you are flying the approach to.
-
+1 Could also be handy for those with limited available switches on a HOTAS.

Great news, thank you for your bug report! Shame it didn't turn up when I searched the forums for similar issues

Hi, there is already a friendly AWACS in the mission within an appropriate range for the CAP station  They are already set to orbit within the search zone but thank you for the input.

Great vid! I'd never noticed the elevators lowering and aircraft able to taxi inside the hangar bay! -
I've just been having the same struggles with the ME and this problem. The AI role of CAP paired with 'Search then engage in zone' definitely seems bugged and give mind bogglingly dumb results in game. My easy workaround so far has been to set the AI role to 'Fighter Sweep' then delete the 'Fighter sweep' advanced waypoint action and add 'Search then Engage in Zone' and it has had much better results. Ive got an example in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216024

Okay so after further testing I have come to the conclusion that pairing the "Search and Engage in Zone" advanced action with the CAP tasking is bugged. In my last test with one AI CAP set to task: CAP advanced action: search then engage in zone - the F14s are very passive and only engage with AIM-9s AFTER they have been engaged by the enemy Mig29s - There is no other advanced waypoint action selected and no restrictive ROE. in the pic below you can see that the Migs have fired first with AA10s before the tomcats engage with AIM9s despite the fact that they have AIM54s/7Ms onboard and a friendly AWACS for support. I have had much better luck if I set the F14s to task: FIGHTER SWEEP with the advanced action, 'search then engage in zone' and it now appears to work as advertised. Mission attached showing the results if anyone is interested: If you run this mission you can observe Enfield11 which is set to CAP and the strange behaviour that ensues whereas Springfield11 is set to Fighter Sweep and they hold their cap station and engage hostile aircraft within the set zone MUCH better. Can i please get some help with the 'Search then Engage in Zone' logic? I am trying to set up a simple mission with two F-14A CAP stations where the F-14s only engage threats that enter into the prescribed zone but I am having a lot of trouble getting it to work as designed. Currently the Tomcats just stay in their orbit and do not engage hostile fighters that enter into their search zone. The aircraft have the mission or 'CAP' but i have removed the CAP option from the advanced waypoint actions and the 'search then engage in zone' is the only action. There is a friendly AWACS airborne that definitely detects the threat aircraft which adds to my confusion as to why the Tomcat's cannot/will not engage the aircraft that enter their search/engagement zone. I'm wondering if I need to add a specific ROE or additional action to achieve my goal. I have searched the forums for assistance but all i could find was this thread from 2014 where the conclusion is that it seems this advanced waypoint action is bugged. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123290&page=2 I have attached the mission and would appreciate if anyone could lend me assistance. Thanks for your reply Ian! Sadly I did fly another mission afterwards and I have no track file or TEMP file. I think I will have to accept that this mission is corrupted beyond repair. Thanks anyway.

I've been working on a mission for the past two days and just attempted to save the file. I then checked the 'Unit list' option and noticed that every unit had been renamed 'directkeyxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' or something along those lines. Then an error box came up and the mission editor closed. I not cannot re-open the file (it doesn't appear in the mission editor list) and it is now 1kb size on disc. I fear it has become corrupted and I have lost hours and hours of work. Can anyone assist me?

VMFA(AW)-242 has inherited some single seat Hornets over the years. Would be amazing if anyone could recreate this for the DCS lot20 Hornet.
