  1. Solved! Got a tips from @BR=55=Sevas to simply use LoGetVectorVelocity = {x,y,z}. Some simple Pythagoras and arctan and all done. Almost feel a bit embarrassed by this simple solution, not figuring it out myself.
  2. This works like a charm! :thumbup: But no need to calculate derivative between frames, it's a velocity vector so all information needed is there for each point. Just to use some Pythagoras and arctan to get the resultant lateral vector. Just gonna clean up the code and then I might share it. One can connect with either UDP or Bluetooth virtual serial port. I have a small annoying issue with the Bluetooth port though. When there is no one listening on it DCS freeze until something start to. Would like to find a way to handle that situation. Thanks again!
  3. God for practicing though ;-) Sounds like some sort of leftover from internal testing. Haven't updated to the latest OB yet, seems to be lost of quirks with it, so can't look into it myself. Sorry, wasn't more helpful than this.
  4. Also, to add to my post above, many aircrafts has their alternate static port inside the cockpit if not pressurised. The cockpit in most fighters, Viggen included, doesn't have pressurised cockpits. With this configuration the pressure altimeter will read a higher altitude at the same QFE/QNH compared to when using the main static port due to suction effects when up in speed. If the backup altimeter in the Viggen has its static source from inside the cockpit (or elsewhere inside the shell), that would fit the observation done here, with a higher reading on the backup altimeter due to speed (i.e. not realy due to altitude, even if the altitude might have an effect on size of the difference at the same speed).

Ony guessing here, but could it be that the static ports for the two are located at different places with the main one at the most beneficial place and the secondary at a more protected plase (more protected from weather/icing and hostile fire)? I guess the reserve gauge is basically only for getting a sufficiently good indication to bring the bird down safely at an landing site (airdrome or road base) with known QFE? Then if it shows same reading as the main one at low altitudes/ground it would be sufficient. Another thought regarding the possibility the main indicator being calibrated by the CK37. If so, it will give different readings than other aircrafts without the calibration, so to keep safe vertical separation, especially during peace time (Sweden have not been in combat on own soil for over 200 years), the pilot needs a dumb, purely pressure based indicator. Edit: Stupid me used "pitot probe" instead of "static port". Corrected.
  6. Works like a charm! Unfortunately to much of the second monitor gets wasted (small one). I really wish Sgt_Baker finds a way to make UltraMFCD work with DCS 2.5 and incorporated the NS430, not much hope though judging from some of his last posts... Thanks for helping though!

  8. Thanks, I do use RMC and GGA sentences and I know about the flat earth in DCS. But I didn't think of using LoGetVectorVelocity, will try it out. It's in meters right? I figure it out. Thanks again!
  9. Thanks! Will try it out. But I guess that area (800 wide in your example) isn't usable for placing other third-party apps over it? I'll see when I try it. But it's a little strange though, those in the other threads who claim it's just to drag to the other monitor does so without stating any need for any special display configurations. Maybe have it for other reasons and not thinking about it? Who knows.
  10. I've said it before, the Emirates has a lot of promotional capital, like Las Vegas in Nevada. If so time consuming and most likely expensive to develop a map for DCS, why put your valuable resources on a training area like the one in Nevada (iconic but still)? And added to that putting Las Vegas on the cover and in all promotional videos. Almost the same goes for the PG map. Maybe a much more authentic area for real conflicts, but with a modern day focus?? (Consider the Normandy, a map focused on a very specific time in history, not even possible to change the season to winter) And again, modern day Dubai on the cover and in all promotional videos. Now consider how much money is put on daring Read Bull stunt performances and the like in both Las Vegas and Dubai. Those places know how to catch the attention of the world, in sometimes very creative ways. I would not be the slightest surprised if ED have got some of that capital. Nothing wrong with it though. ED and DCS might represent a too small of a niche market to afford the development without some help. (a side note: Normandy is an outside project eventually taken under the care of ED, and by some considered not that very well done, maybe due to not getting enough attention from the developers. If above conspiracy theory is correct, that actually leaving us with only one genuine ED map, Caucasus)
  11. I know, this has been asked before, and according to some people it's just to grab it and move, even outside the DCS window. But I can't do that, like some others in those threads. But no answer has been given to us, not even any attempt of guessing. I have one display configured in DCS settings and a second display for third-party applications of various types. I see the top bar on the pop-up NS430 and I can move it around and resize, but if I try to move it to the second display the mouse pointer is visible there but not the NS430. Doesn't matter if in windowed mode or full-screen. Any advise? Thanks!
  12. Hi, I have tried to follow the manual on how to perform a Running nose wheel takeoff, page 272. There are some things I cant seem to get right though. Particularly this section: I do believe I understand what the "thumping noise" is, but not sure. If putting the cyclic forward/aft there is almost no change in sound in the beginning, but somewhere in the middle of the travel (counting from center) there is a kind-of-thumping noise starting. That's it? What is the activation of the roll-pitch channel supposed to do? I can't distinguish any difference with it on or off at any stage during this procedure. Pulling the cyclic to the aft limit and pressing the trim is supposed to do what? same as for the AP channel, can't distinguish anything. Is the trim supposed to be held down or clicked? should the cyclic be returned to center afterwards? doesn't seems so, why release the stick force in the aft position then? If I let it stay in the aft position the helicopter start to move backwards when releasing the brakes and increasing collective (quite expected if you ask me). Is this dependent on trimmer mode in the options? I have the "no spring and FFB" one, should I have "default" for this procedure to work? Then we have this: I never succeeded to lift the main landing gear by simply applying collective, if by "main landing gear" the two rear set of wheels are assumed. "1/2 to 2/3 stick travel", relative center or aft position as per above? This never happen to me: In what way do I misinterpret the instructions? I know there are other methods described here on the forum and in videos, more based on trial and error, but I would like to know if this official method do work if performed correctly and if someone has successfully done so? Thanks!

  14. Better late than never :smilewink: Seriously, thanks :thumbup:, always interesting to see how others solve problems. But both OP an I want to send NMEA sentences to whatever application/device that can handle them. You sends the coordinates straight to a self made app. And you also get the same location error as me, since we both uses the in game coordinates without any adjustments for the real world. All is working good for me except I cant get the ground speed and track direction (not heading or LoGetMagneticYaw you are using).
  15. Hi, I'm fiddling with a script to export NMEA (GPS) sentences (for my own aircraft) to any external application/device that can use them, like my android phone. All is working (coordinates doesn't really fit with real world though, can be more than 500m off), but I can't find how to get my ground speed and track direction right. Is there a way to export them? At the moment I'm using TAS and a calculated value for the track using my coordinates (formula is for real, spherical world and gives a couple of degrees off). Or as an alternative, is it possible to export data from the NS430? Note, when I say track direction, I mean the direction I'm actually traveling, not heading. Thanks!   16. First, the avaliable loadouts depends on what role you assigned to the helicopter ("no role" or whatever it's called gives you all loadouts avaliable). Second, you can create new loadouts. Buttons on the low left. Third, to add or change weapons on a hardpoint, right-click the little square below corresponding number. This goes for door gunners as well. Forth, it's a good idea to glance through the manual from time to time, the DCS GUI one in this case, not the Mi-8.
  17. Bugger, I somewhat hoped (a minor, minor hope) that the mission designers had a working solution for ground units lack of night vision (not eaten enough carrots?).
  18. I have a feeling all AI basically getting blind during night. How does ground units behave in the same mission? What mission is it? I have tried to adjust old BS1 missions where ground units are supposed to fire at you during night time, and they did in BS1 but not now. If ground units fire during night time when you fly I'm interested in examine it to see if they done something I can use in the BS1 missions. Sorry I didn't have anything to help you.
  19. @RagnarDa Found another side effect (see post #17 if you haven't already): In the kneeboard, take-off WP is denoted "M0" instead of "Take-Off". And landing points can not be placed other than on airdromes. Minor things but still.
  20. @RagnarDa, I found some side effects: When placing a Viggen on a road (I assume it's no difference if placed on other flat ground), the altitude in ME will always be 30m AGL or above and the heading will always point towards first WP. You can change them (alt <30m AGL), but they will always flip back to >=30m AGL and WP1 heading whenever you save the mission. With one exception. If you place it on an airdrome (Takeoff ...) and alt as "MSL", change it to "Takeoff from ground", move it to where you like to start and change the alt to anything below the ground elevation, the alt will flip to ground elevation and not 30m above. But if you in this case change from "MSL" to "AGL" it will become 30m above elevation with no possibility to change it back. Also, if first placing the Viggen on an airdrome then changing it to "Takeoff from ground", the altitude and heading are treated the same way as turning/fly over points, i.e. 2000m MSL and WP1 heading. But, even if the altitude is >30m AGL in ME, it will start on ground and not fall 30m nevertheless (but still WP1 heading). To me the altitude thing isn't that big issue, but I certainly would like to be able to set the heading without wasting a WP for the takeoff.
