  1. Appreciate your opinion on this, and I can see your point, God knows I've been guilty of that PC-procrastination before. I think one other reason is I'm quite comfortable with Win10 and I think this method allows me to maintain productivity while I mess about learning the nuances of Win11.
  2. I'm thinking (hope) for this to be a faster/easier transition by: a) getting DCS up & running and dialed in again on NewPC on Win11 boot b) having access to all my other business programs (VS, Adobe, etc), and data immediately available via Win10 boot without any re-configurations c) being able to decide which apps & User\AppData crap need to be migrated or installed to Win11 without rushing it. d) if/when everything complete to satisfaction...reformat Win10 drive No need for 'Windows Mixed Reality Headset' or VR stuff. Please feel free to punch a hole in my thinking here, appreciate a different perspective
  3. I'm curious about this from a slightly different angle. I'm about to buy an entirely new Win11 rig (big hardware upgrade) and was thinking about putting my old Win10 drive in as well to duel boot. DCS is on an entirely dedicated drive, except for \Saved Games\DCS\ folder, which I imagine I could simply copy to the new Win11 drive. I'll also move my other 2 drives into this new machine. This, I hope, gives me a lot more flexibility in making the transition as opposed to maintaining 2 separate machines for a while. Does this strategy make sense?
  4. I'm going to take your list below and work with one of my hardware guys to see what he can come up with. There are 'packaged' gaming PCs around but it's a matter of trusting the source. Sh#t...damn near everything is made here, but we (in CN) end up paying same or more than you folks do...insane! I'd almost consider going home to US and buy a rig while on holiday, if I even take one
  5. Excuse my ignorance...didn't know about that overlay. What do these tell you? How ph#ked am I? Both images below on new mission with no other A/C or statics involved 1st image - Cold & Dark 2nd image - Parked w engines running Also have this massive issue of USB devices not getting along nicely. Devices involved: Warthog Throttle - Warthog Stick (or WinWing Stick)- TrackIR - TPR Rudder Pedals ...all plugged into powered USB hubs. Almost like the old days IRQ conflicts But one thing at a time...
  6. Does this help? This is all running at 1920x1080
  7. Unplayable as in not being able to scan the cockpit while Free Flight - A-10C II - Caucasus, FPS bouncing between 5 to 112 while GPU was bouncing at 92 to 100%. Massive lag just watching cockpit gauges move
  8. That's a bit tougher here in Shanghai, China than normal because of current exchange rate, I'm probably looking at ¥18,000 but that doesn't really equal out in a US or EU market. It might be easier to start with a decent list for MOBO, CPU, RAM from your perspective...just a ballpark, then I can gather info and respond better. I really appreciate some assistance on this, I just went through my 1st Chinese New Year in 10 years WITHOUT DCS. It's the only activity that would keep me sane for 10 days
  9. Here is all logs from C:\Users\major\Desktop\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs, where would I find 'dxdiag'? DCS.Openbeta-Logs.rar
  10. I just went from a LG 27" running 2560x1440 to a (XiaoMi)Redmi Curved G34WQ 3440x1440 running off my now ancient NVidia GeForce GTX1070....it is totally unplayable now although all was good with the previous LG monitor. Is it just the resolution or is something else happening here? My system (specs below) is obviously old and I'm about to pull the trigger on a new rig, but would like to see updated specs so I don't under or OVER buy. Specs list on digitalcombatsimulator.com seems like they haven't been updated for a long time, especially in light of all the massive Dev that's occurred in the last 2-3 years.
  11. I'm confused now.
  12. I can't say that I found 'the solution' but it must be related to where each MFD was plugged into the powered USD hub, especially in relations to the other devices (Warthog HOTAS, etc) AND which USB port I was using on computer. I just kept swapping stuff around and finally it magically resolved itself. Sorry I can be more specific.
  13. I guess I'll wait until the Chinese New Year holiday is over next week and source again. Wish I could source from home (US) but difficult right now. It's amazing to me that 95%+ of the stuff is made right here but they screw the local consumer on PC parts and systems. Current machine specs below....don't laugh, it's served it purpose Any opinions, comments, suggestions on rolling it back for the time being?
  14. Appreciate the ideas guys, I switched back to a 1920 x 1080 res; no joy, still unplayable. GPU was bouncing at 92 to 100% while CPU racing as well on just loading a Free Flight - A-10C II above Caucasus at the lowest DCS graphic settings. I guess time to shop around for something new...quick question on that. Not sure where you guys are but I'm looking at about ¥30,000 for a mid-level rig here in Shanghai, that +/-$4,200USD. Overall, does that sound like a reasonable comparison to your locally sourced, mid-level machine? Can anybody send me some relative specs for a new machine...nothing too detailed...just a good solid gaming rig...I only fly DCS. Again, appreciate your help, hopefully back in the air soon,
  15. Haven't flown since early October when my monitor took a dump on me. Replaced with 3440x1440 (XiaoMi)Redmi G34WQ running off my now ancient NVidia GeForce GTX1070. Updated DCS the other night and it's unplayable with constant stuttering, freezing almost every second, and that is at Low Graphics settings. Can't even pan around cockpit while parked cold on tarmac....and that's with NO USB peripherals attached (TrackIR, Warthog HOTAS, etc). I think this machine has seen it's better days. Everything ran fine just prior to monitor dump so I'm wondering if & how I can easily rollback to an earlier version and try that out before I start shopping for a whole new machine. If this sounds feasible can someone direct me to any instructions on rolling back to ??? version era about Sept-Oct '24? Appreciate the help while I sort out a new purchase...need to fly as I'm sure you can understand.
  16. It is ONLY the Black Hawk airframe that does this, no unusual or new 'external heat/light sources', I've removed every keybind from every input device. It almost seems like Warthog Throttle slider is WAY out of calibration but it works fine for every other view, in every other airframe.
  17. Anybody know how to reset the view on TrackIR, It's zoomed in so far that all I can see is windshield. I had decent views before but can't seem to get them back on any of the MH-60 or the sub Mods. I can't make any significant changes with NumKeys; it like it's almost locked into some zoom. Below is my default view when starting and if I try to make any adjustment it reverts to this within a few seconds. Is there some file containing those settings for THIS AIRFRAME ONLY; all my other planes/helos are good & stable.
  18. Have we progressed any further on being able to create a static group of 6 statics like below, so we can drop them into any mission on any map?
  19. I have the Orion 2 stick with all the extra kit and now using it for rotary flight, keeping the Warthog for all other planes. I've pulled the springs and cams and immediately see/feel the benefits, there is still some light spring effect from the rubber boot. Now trying to figure out what/why the dampeners are being recommended. Can anyone explain what they do and why they would be beneficial for rotary flight control. Suggestions for any fine tuning would be greatly appreciated if relevant. Thanks in advance,
  20. So you've spent time setting up all your Options - Controls for the UH-60L (Throttle, Control Stick, Pedals, keyboard(s),etc) and you're satisfied and comfortable with your assignments. Your base UH-60 is complete. Now you go thru the tasks of adding the UH-60R mods but your Options - Controls aren't correct, or the same as your L model. Sh#t, here we go again...? Is there an easy way to copy all those setting from the L model to the R model? They're there probably going to be about 90%+ identical, depending whether you're flying for the Army, Navy, Airforce, Coast Guard, or Big Bob's Canyon Tours, etc. ***** Edit: 12hrs later.... I'm retracting this comment above after going thru the arduous tasks of recreating those key & control mappings for the R model to mirror the L model. It took a whopping 2 minutes with the provided methods of 'saving profiles' on each piece of hardware (as opposed to saving the entire profile). I see the Dev's logic and applaud them, please accept my apologies.
  21. I cannot get any pilot/co-pilot to show up in the UH-60L...with any 'paint scheme'. I know I had a USCG scheme 2 years ago with both correctly uniformed pilots. Additionally, both UH-60L Navy Chargers & Tridents aircraft have no textures I just finally got both the UH-60L & R models installed again after a hiatus from rotary aircraft but this is driving me nutz.
  22. Thank you Rotary Squadron Parking Chief Petty Officer for your help...worked as you suggested....with some interesting results. A Static on the bow forced my spawn at first empty port position, no matter which parking I assigned. More testing to go....
  23. Is there some logic for parking rotary on carriers? No matter where I assign 'Take Off from Parking' on the Tarawa I end up at the bow.
  24. @ColdFusion I got the F-16/A-10 kit several years ago and followed up shortly with extra cams, springs and dampeners. Since I live in Shanghai, delivery was quite rapid and affordable. I pulled out all springs and cams last night and like the feel, looking forward to wrecking my fleet of MH-60's tonight in Guam , then dial in for CH-47. Not very familiar with the dampeners so not sure what you mean when flying it with rotary. Could you shed some light on that or point me in a direction for more? I wish TM could build their pedals a little closer to the floor, and maybe design it to make the spring removal easier when swapping from fixed to rotary.
