  1. Hi JEFX First, I think we should keep all further discussions confined to this post, my heads beginning to spin jumping from one to the other :megalol: ( Also the DCS thread is going way off topic ). OK onto your last question about 19" or 20". Thats a very good point, one that I had not even thought about. I simply went for 20" as they were bigger and just as cheap as a 19". Doh! Though to be honest the images look just fine on mine, I can't see any problem with using 20", but I'm certainly no expert. Ok, I have put the following together pretty quick and I hope it is all correct, apologies if I have missed something out or it isn't very clear. Any questions please feel free to ask away and I will do my best to answer, but again I must stress this isn't my work and others will have more knowledge than me. I'm using 3 DGM 20.1" Monitors, their max resolution is 1680x1050. After plugging in triplehead2go (digital) I set the Matrox GXM panel to... NUMBER OF MONITORS = 3 ASPECT RATIO = STANDARD This gives a resolution for each monitor of 1280x1024@60hz giving a combined resoluton of 3840x1024@60Hz. One thing I didn't grasp at first while using the matrox control panel. In order to get the adjusted resolutions to take you don't just select them in the "Edit Mode List", but you have to then go back into the "Change" menu and adjust the resolution there, then "apply" then "ok" then restart your machine. The following info has been gathered from the work of ggg87, so all credit to him, Joe and Teka Teka for what follows: OK first off you need to alter the config view.lua settings. (Lockon\Config\View\View.lua ) **The default values are 20.0,120.0** The second figure is changed, apparently you can not go any higher than 175 or it causes instability. I tried changing the view limits for the Su-25T but it doesn't seem to work. I've now gone onto flying the Su-33 in preparation for the Tomcat/ US Navy mod. I have not tested any other planes ( just the su-25 ) so mileage may vary as to how this looks in others, I think the SU33 looks stunning! The next thing to change is the "Camera Angle Limits" found in View\Server.lua **Default values 140, -80, 90 ** Finally change the "Graphics.cfg" found in Lockon\Config Here it is vital that you change all 3 resolutioms and also the aspect ratio ** default is 1.33333 ** I "Think" thats it! The problem with zooming in while using trackir has got me foxed. I tried following some of the instructions in altering the vlaues so you don't start off so zoomed in, but didn't have much success. I ended up disabling the "Z" axis in trackir, so when I go into a flight I just manually adjust the zoom with the "/" and "*" keys. One thing I have also noticed is that if I start off with the normal zoomed in view my fps is great, when I pull out the fps go way down. The movement also becomes jerky when I pan my head to the left and right. To get round this I just zoom all the way out, then tap the zoom in key a couple of times, I then see my fps jump back up and I leave it at that. And as posted earlier I am running this with trackir 3, virtual panel and touch buddy, with the last 2 running in client/server mode from my laptop. Everything works pretty spot on, though the only thing I couldn't add recently is the HDR mod, that just crashes the monitors. Hope this helps. quick edit! - Just thought, it's important to understand the resolution issue. My setup has a max resolution of 3840x1024, therefore that is the number that must be input in the Graphics.cfg. If your max resolution is something else, that is what you must input. To start with I didn't get that resolution come up ( I was using a 24" and 2 x 20" ) this just made the game crash on startup. Also another thing I just remembered!!! When you install the triplehead you can install game software that creates it's own shortcut, for Lockon don't use it, as Joe found out as well, this results in Lockon crashing. Just edit your original config's.
  2. Hi JEFX Just replied to the other thread you were asking about triplehead, as I said in that thread, I'm no expert but am happy to share what I did to get mine running. I will sit down and right it out, just so I have it straight in my own head before I end up confusing you even more! As far as it running with touchbuddy, I run touchbuddy on a 7" touchscreen which connects to my laptop, this is then run in client / server mode. I have it running with no problems ( now ) as well as having the excellent virtual panel, which also runs on my laptop. Will get back to you asap with my scribblings, but might be tomorrow, just so I make sure I've got it straight. Cheers
  3. Hi JEFX I recently went to triplehead2go and really haven't looked back ( well I did when I applied the view settings ggg87 supplied! :D ) anyway I digress. I'm running just one graphics card ( ati 3870x2 ) and it runs fine with that. If you look back a few pages ggg87 did put all his setting, so I used that and Joe (simhq ) review to get mine sorted. http://www.simhq.com/_technology/technology_065a.html It did take some tweaking but I got there in the end. The biggest problem I had to start with was trying to use different types of monitor, I already had a Dell 24" but couldn't afford to get 2 more of those, so thought I would get 2 cheapo 20". Just didn't work as they had different resolutions. I ended up buying another 20". The results are impressive, even the wife ( who had initially thought I had finally lost it ) grudgingly admitted that it looked good. As for the zoom issue, again I adjusted my setting as per ggg87, I find that zooming out as far as I go does slow things right down ( also makes things very jumpy ), I have compromised and tend to zoom out all the way, then zoom back in a bit till I see my fps go up a few digits. Hope that helps, if you need more instructions I'm sure that ggg97 or Joe could help, I'd be happy to explain what I did but I'm no expert, and simply copied there examples. Cheers
  4. Thanks for the reply highwayman-ed, I guess I will just have to live without it, as I spent long enough getting the triple head to work as I wanted, I really want to get on and do some flying rather than this perpetual tinkering!
  5. Just tried to run this for the first time after reading about it over at Simhq, and am having some problems. I'm currently running FC with triplehead2go across 3 20" monitors at a combined resolution of 3840x1024. Having dropped the two files into my Lockon dir I boot the game, I see the text (top right) saying that the hdr mod is present, I then get the menu screen, if I then click on one of the quick flight options ( su33 ), I get the loading image then the middle and right monitors go off and the left monitor just has a totally distorted display with lots of zig zag lines across the display. Totally unreadable. I then have to reboot the computer to get back to normal. If I then remove the two files, everything is back to normal. Any ideas?
  6. Ah, that would explain it, thats a shame. thanks for the reply.
  7. Now you've got me misting up...group hug anyone? Not wishing to go too off topic...too late! the only thing that I'm currently unable to sort is the view angle of the 25T ( which I mostly fly ). I have been playing with the Su33, lovely plane but the fm is obviously somewhat lacking in comparison.
  8. Excellent news and thanks for the pic!
  9. I too have just jumped onto the triplehead2go bandwagon ( FC 1.12 ), and I must say...WOW. I'm running it with touchbuddy, tarckir and virtual panel. Looks amazing. Really pleased that ED are going to fully support it for BS. Wags, you say that you are working on solving the fov issue, does that mean for FC as well or just BS? Thanks. Finally, as I don't post much, ( but read the boards a lot! ) I would just like to say a great big thanks to ggg87 and Joe for their excellent work. Without you guys I would have been completely lost:thumbup:
  10. Hi TOMCATZ, firstly I'd just like to say what a great looking addon you guys are doing, keep up the good work! When you release ( soon I hope ) will it just be in German Luftwaffe livery? I ask as I would love to get an RAF version. If your not planning this I could have a go at it, with your permission. However I should say I have never done any skinning before and it would be a very steep learning curve for me no doubt. I do however have a fair bit of time on my hands presently as I'm off work following a small op on my wrist so would like to keep my self occupied! :joystick:
  11. Good to hear. Quick question for Mnemonic.... are you still working on the photo realistic instruments ? the one you posted looked stunning! cheers
  12. Hi Mistral, no probs for helping. I was in the same boat as you, and I know how frustrating it is. On what you've done, not sure if your doing the config bit right. In your lockon/config/export dir you should have two files the export.lua and the config.lua. Both these should have been copied across from the VP download, overwriting your existing ones. ( Backup your originals ). The only extra file I have in there now is the touch buddy one ( touchbuddy-exort.lua ). Good luck.
  13. Hi Mistral If your only using the one computer + second screen you wont have to do any of the editing of the export.lua. Before trying my second computer running vp, I did try running vp on my main computer and dragging vp across to the second screen (laptop). This worked fine, but I remember sometimes getting the error messages. I think I re copied the export.lua back into the game directory. then started vp, then dragged it across to the second monitor, then started lockon. good luck. I've found flying with VP much easier than the old way, even though I use trackir as well. Having the quick reference vp gives is a real bonus.
  14. Hi Mistral I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I'm now trying to remember what I did to get round it.... Firstly, you say about it not being useful in Lomac because of the touch button function not being in, well thats were touch buddy comes in. If you have a touch screen you can have controls setup on your touch screen. It works brilliant! With your setup, are you using a separate monitor for virtual panel? If you are, have you changed the "localhost" ip to your Lan one? ( see my post above for how not to do it !!!! ). This is how I've done it Main comp runs lockon. Laptop runs touch body and virtual panel. touch screen runs off laptop. copied the two export files onto main comp into lockon/config/export folder. Opened export.lua in wordpad changed local host as below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- dofile "lua.lua" socket = require("socket") host = host or "192.168.0.2" port = port or 8080 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (192.168.0.2 is my laptop IP.) saved it, then made sure the config.lua had this... ----------------------------------- EnableExportScript = true ----------------------------------- I then run virtual panel on my laptop, then fire up lockon, on the virtual panel display you should see "disconnected" upper left of screen. When you go into a mission that changes to connected, when you are actually in the plane. That should be it, I haven't explained touch buddy ( for another day maybe ). With regard to the error boxes, if they still happen try deleting the files and re copy them onto your second computer. Hope this helps, and nice background btw
  15. hmmmm, yeah I'd looked at the ini file but couldn't see anything obvious. Though the author did mention it's possible. Oh well, I'm happy for the moment.
  16. JaBoG32_Pjotr Thanks for the help, I have tried that, so I'm stumped. I think it may be to do with my router, though have opened 8080, and even tried with all ports open. Restarted Router. Still no joy. EDIT - Ha, I'm soooooo dumb, I'd left out the quote marks on the localhost bit. Thanks again mate, seeing yours finally made the penny drop. Now I'm on a roll do you know how to change the background on the panel?
  17. Hi JaBoG32_Laud, thanks for helping. Ok, this is what I've done. My gaming IP is 192.168.0.136. The machine running VP is 192.168.0.2. Both local Ip's I've tried using both ip's in the export.lua. ie host = host or 192.168.0.2 host = host or 192.168.0.136. But neither get a "connect" I've simply replaced the original... host = host or "localhost" with that local IP, is this correct? I also opened my 8080 port. No joy.
  18. Bump...anybody???...Bueller....Anybody ???
  19. I do hope people are still reading this thread, cos I need some help too! First off, absolutely fantastic work by both Mnemonic and Zorlac, Gentlemen I salute you ! Now the problem. Unlike nobrot (great name ) I have installed vp onto my main computer and it runs fine, but I'm just plain confused with what I need to do to get it running on my second ( laptop ). I don't understand the readme that talks about... I thought it might mean change "localhost" to my main comp's IP ( which is running FC ) but when I try and launch VP it goes crazy with loads of red illegal operation boxes coming up. Could someone please explain what is needed to get this running? Many thanks. Oh, and while asking loads of questions.... how do you put a custom background on?
  20. Well to anyone interested.... Received my new activation code yesterday. Thank you ED !
  21. Well the site is up, I've sent an e-mail ( yesterday ) and still awaiting a response...here's hoping!
  22. Hi GS, yep, I've now bought 2 copies of FC over the past few years, and I'm not prepared to pay again for something I legally own but can not play just because I've upgraded my computer. It's VERY frustrating !
  23. Hi I am trying to get LOMAC FC running on my new system. I have tried the registry save, but starforce is coming up with error. please contact me on jez@brown722.ndo.co.uk
