DCS:A10C - Question on external MFD's?
Ratcatcher replied to Ratcatcher's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks again! Its weird, after wrtiting this I went back again to try and run the 7" monitors from my main computer, and after a bit of faffing...it works! I hear what you say about the usb's though, I do however still have a triplehead2go. ( Stoped usuing it as it was such a nightmare setting the thing up. ) Thanks again for all your suggestions, I will get there!!! EDIT - Well my success was short lived, the 7" monitors work but even trying to use Leavu on them just doesn't work, so getting them to run the TVM has no chance. Bummer, looks like i've waisted a load of dosh on 2 displays that wont do what I want.( As there only usb ) This and Englands dismal performance yesterday leaves me feeling very deflated...I'm off to bed! -
DCS:A10C - Question on external MFD's?
Ratcatcher replied to Ratcatcher's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi Gadroc, many thanks for the reply. So, good and bad news for me, as I currently have my main computer running 3 screens with eyeinfinity (Crossfired), and have had no luck adding extra screens to the setup ( even the usb ones I’m using with Leavu ). So if anyone knows how this can be done, please let us know!!! From your explanation as to what they would have to do to get a Lan running I fully understand its going to be a low priority. - Quick edit - I had wondered if the pro version would have handled things differently, but thinking about it I'm sure they would'nt have to worry about doing eyeinfinity, and just get a big screen to begin with. ( Not an option for me though :( ) Either way, I'm still really looking forward to this baby shipping! -
Not sure if this has been asked before, if it has I cant find it. Are there plans to allow an external monitor to display the TVM display for the A10? ( Via a Lan connection ) I've just got the excellant software written by Yoda running on 2 external 7" monitors plus the TM MFD's. They work brilliantly, however I remember reading in the Leavu thread that it can't run the TVM. I also hope that the A10 module will keep the current ability to export the other MFD screens?

Thanks Schizwiz, much appreciated!

Help with keybinding to Cougar MFD I'm hoping someone can assist me with the final ( I hope ) peice of the jigsaw with getting this great program to run. I currently have LEAVU runnning on 2 computers networked. The info is displaying correctly and that part is fine. However Im struggling to get my head round the key binding side of things. I want to use the Cougar MFD's, and I would like to program them to work with Leavu. But I'm at a loss as to how this is done. I have looked at the key bindings files but cant understand how you program the MFD's using these files. I know it can be done becuase I have seen the video showing the mfd's in action in an earlier post. Any help greatlfully received! :helpsmilie:

Formation Takeoff and Landing Demo
Ratcatcher replied to Burnerski's topic in Screenshots and Videos
No luck with the bezel management, I had seen the utube clip, unfortunaltey that doesn't come up for me. I have even tried taking off Crossfire but no luck. It seems others have this issue and I've added my feedback to ATI over this issue. Strange that you have 2 differant types of monitor but still get the option? I think my lua is probably ok, as I messed about with someone else's the other week. I think its the bezel thats making things not as good as it could be. I'm currently running 1.4 and have already tried 1.3 but no luck. Cheers -
Formation Takeoff and Landing Demo
Ratcatcher replied to Burnerski's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Thanks for the reply, you may regret that last statement though :D *Edit* Ohhh I'm sooooo dumb sometimes...just realised the cheapo monitors turn into protrait as well! SORTED! I've just tried a quick flight in the F15, and I like it! My main problem now is trying to get the bezel management sorted, as its more obviously disjointed in portrait, as the instruments are now being spread across the 3 monitors. Your bezels seem spot on. If possible could you post your lua setting? I would like to pursue this a bit to see how far I can get. But I'm liking what I see so far! BTW, What fps are you getting, seemed to be running very smooth in the vid? Cheers -
Formation Takeoff and Landing Demo

Loved the video! I'm interested in your setup, I currently have 3x24" monitors, but in landscape. ( XF Ati 2x5870's ) What stand(s) do you use to arrange them in portrait? I would be interested in giving that setup a go. Do you use a custom view.lua as well? For other applications do you revert to landscape and is that a bit of a chew? Sorry for all the questions! Cheers -
Thanks for the quick response, and there I was getting all excited!

Looks very nice, one question though. The video shows a boxed BS with age certification ( 16+ ), does this mean imminent release? Or was it a mockup?

multi monitor picture request !
Ratcatcher replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I dont see why it wouldn't, I'm currently using tb with FC ( see above ). My current touch screen is only 7" but if BS will work I want to get a larger touch screen and use it as Urze is in his vids. Hopefully when the demo is released ( soon? ) we can get some firm answers to all our questions, as people get used to the setup of the sim. I really would like to hit the ground running when the full games released in the new year. -
multi monitor picture request !
Ratcatcher replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have another question regarding this, ( jumps on band wagon ! ) I currently use triplehead2go ( On Lockon FC ) along with TIR3 What I would like to know is... Is there a way to setup BS so that the 3 monitors display the cockpit and another monitor is used to display the Skhval and ABRIS. I am using only 1 graphics card, (ATI 3870 ) but have another available, but it wouldnt be crossfire. If this is possible an easy to understand explanation would be most gratefully received. :music_whistling: -
I believe a release of a demo or at the very least a date for the demo ( even an eta ) would over night pretty much kill all the wailing and gnasing of teeth with people screaming "can we get the Russian version???...Why not???...Rant...Throw's toys out of pram..." type behaviour. I think pretty much everyone waiting would clam down and happily await the western release in 09, using the demo to start getting upto speed for the full release. Which pretty much is what people wanted to use the Russian one for. I've been visiting this forum since Lock On first came out and haven't enjoyed the recent atmosphere here tbh. It would also allow ED to get back to what they do best, making bloody good flight sims! Just my 2 cents...

Will you buy the russian version of Black Shark?
Ratcatcher replied to Kenan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It would be nice to get some word on the ETA of the English language demo from ED. If they think it is "imminent" then I think the wisest choice is to hold off and make the most of the demo and manual in preparation for an early new year release. If the demo is months away, learnig russian begins to look a little more attractive! -
How to set-up TRIPLEHEAD2GO for Lockon Flamming cliffs
Ratcatcher replied to JEFX's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hi Mate Nice post, also hoping that BS resolve the issues. Has this been confirmed? Unfortunately I'm "grounded" at the moment having decided to upgrade my CPU/MB and one of them is FUBAR'd! Oh well, at least BS isn't out yet, ( Never thought I'd hear myself say that !!! ) - would have pushed me over the edge! :D -
Hey JEFX thats really great news! It takes a bit of work but results are worth it! I've just been watching the new BS vid on simhq and can't wait to try that baby with the triplehead. Keep us posted as I will be interested in seeing how the new graphics card fairs.

Glad to be of some help, though as I said it's really just a re hash of a couple other posts and a few personal observations. Glad to hear your joining the club! Looking forward to hear your thoughts on how it looks when your up and running! Cheers

Hi JEFX First, I think we should keep all further discussions confined to this post, my heads beginning to spin jumping from one to the other :megalol: ( Also the DCS thread is going way off topic ). OK onto your last question about 19" or 20". Thats a very good point, one that I had not even thought about. I simply went for 20" as they were bigger and just as cheap as a 19". Doh! Though to be honest the images look just fine on mine, I can't see any problem with using 20", but I'm certainly no expert. Ok, I have put the following together pretty quick and I hope it is all correct, apologies if I have missed something out or it isn't very clear. Any questions please feel free to ask away and I will do my best to answer, but again I must stress this isn't my work and others will have more knowledge than me. I'm using 3 DGM 20.1" Monitors, their max resolution is 1680x1050. After plugging in triplehead2go (digital) I set the Matrox GXM panel to... NUMBER OF MONITORS = 3 ASPECT RATIO = STANDARD This gives a resolution for each monitor of 1280x1024@60hz giving a combined resoluton of 3840x1024@60Hz. One thing I didn't grasp at first while using the matrox control panel. In order to get the adjusted resolutions to take you don't just select them in the "Edit Mode List", but you have to then go back into the "Change" menu and adjust the resolution there, then "apply" then "ok" then restart your machine. The following info has been gathered from the work of ggg87, so all credit to him, Joe and Teka Teka for what follows: OK first off you need to alter the config view.lua settings. (Lockon\Config\View\View.lua ) **The default values are 20.0,120.0** The second figure is changed, apparently you can not go any higher than 175 or it causes instability. I tried changing the view limits for the Su-25T but it doesn't seem to work. I've now gone onto flying the Su-33 in preparation for the Tomcat/ US Navy mod. I have not tested any other planes ( just the su-25 ) so mileage may vary as to how this looks in others, I think the SU33 looks stunning! The next thing to change is the "Camera Angle Limits" found in View\Server.lua **Default values 140, -80, 90 ** Finally change the "Graphics.cfg" found in Lockon\Config Here it is vital that you change all 3 resolutioms and also the aspect ratio ** default is 1.33333 ** I "Think" thats it! The problem with zooming in while using trackir has got me foxed. I tried following some of the instructions in altering the vlaues so you don't start off so zoomed in, but didn't have much success. I ended up disabling the "Z" axis in trackir, so when I go into a flight I just manually adjust the zoom with the "/" and "*" keys. One thing I have also noticed is that if I start off with the normal zoomed in view my fps is great, when I pull out the fps go way down. The movement also becomes jerky when I pan my head to the left and right. To get round this I just zoom all the way out, then tap the zoom in key a couple of times, I then see my fps jump back up and I leave it at that. And as posted earlier I am running this with trackir 3, virtual panel and touch buddy, with the last 2 running in client/server mode from my laptop. Everything works pretty spot on, though the only thing I couldn't add recently is the HDR mod, that just crashes the monitors. Hope this helps. quick edit! - Just thought, it's important to understand the resolution issue. My setup has a max resolution of 3840x1024, therefore that is the number that must be input in the Graphics.cfg. If your max resolution is something else, that is what you must input. To start with I didn't get that resolution come up ( I was using a 24" and 2 x 20" ) this just made the game crash on startup. Also another thing I just remembered!!! When you install the triplehead you can install game software that creates it's own shortcut, for Lockon don't use it, as Joe found out as well, this results in Lockon crashing. Just edit your original config's.

Hi JEFX Just replied to the other thread you were asking about triplehead, as I said in that thread, I'm no expert but am happy to share what I did to get mine running. I will sit down and right it out, just so I have it straight in my own head before I end up confusing you even more! As far as it running with touchbuddy, I run touchbuddy on a 7" touchscreen which connects to my laptop, this is then run in client / server mode. I have it running with no problems ( now ) as well as having the excellent virtual panel, which also runs on my laptop. Will get back to you asap with my scribblings, but might be tomorrow, just so I make sure I've got it straight. Cheers

Hi JEFX I recently went to triplehead2go and really haven't looked back ( well I did when I applied the view settings ggg87 supplied! :D ) anyway I digress. I'm running just one graphics card ( ati 3870x2 ) and it runs fine with that. If you look back a few pages ggg87 did put all his setting, so I used that and Joe (simhq ) review to get mine sorted. http://www.simhq.com/_technology/technology_065a.html It did take some tweaking but I got there in the end. The biggest problem I had to start with was trying to use different types of monitor, I already had a Dell 24" but couldn't afford to get 2 more of those, so thought I would get 2 cheapo 20". Just didn't work as they had different resolutions. I ended up buying another 20". The results are impressive, even the wife ( who had initially thought I had finally lost it ) grudgingly admitted that it looked good. As for the zoom issue, again I adjusted my setting as per ggg87, I find that zooming out as far as I go does slow things right down ( also makes things very jumpy ), I have compromised and tend to zoom out all the way, then zoom back in a bit till I see my fps go up a few digits. Hope that helps, if you need more instructions I'm sure that ggg97 or Joe could help, I'd be happy to explain what I did but I'm no expert, and simply copied there examples. Cheers

Thanks for the reply highwayman-ed, I guess I will just have to live without it, as I spent long enough getting the triple head to work as I wanted, I really want to get on and do some flying rather than this perpetual tinkering!

Just tried to run this for the first time after reading about it over at Simhq, and am having some problems. I'm currently running FC with triplehead2go across 3 20" monitors at a combined resolution of 3840x1024. Having dropped the two files into my Lockon dir I boot the game, I see the text (top right) saying that the hdr mod is present, I then get the menu screen, if I then click on one of the quick flight options ( su33 ), I get the loading image then the middle and right monitors go off and the left monitor just has a totally distorted display with lots of zig zag lines across the display. Totally unreadable. I then have to reboot the computer to get back to normal. If I then remove the two files, everything is back to normal. Any ideas?
