  1. But can the a-10c home on an ndb, as far as I know that isn't implemented
  2. Thank you! I'm not looking to take anything away from any hardcover WWII simmers, I plan on doing more than enough WWII myself, just looking for any options for newer aircraft to get the most "bang for the buck" if I purchase this map.
  3. This is kinda getting off topic. It was stated by wags that modern aircraft will work in Normandy, so without going any further into"should" they be there, I'm only curious as too what capacity they will be able to navigate.
  4. Without the WWII asset pack what about the map is sooo unrealistic? Sure some buildings are older but I'm sure there are some parts of modern day Normandy with older architecture. Definitely good enough for a small scenario using the a10 or su25t on a dirt runway, just don't set up the mission to fly over a major city area.
  5. T/O and landing would be cool on an improvised or dirt runway, plus I only have 2.0 and would like a change of scenery from the desert.
  6. Probably too early to ask but I wonder if the divert menu would work then?
  7. Kinda takes away from the viability of using this aircraft in this map, no? I've seen all the videos of Matt flying around in more modern aircraft but not sure how combat effective they can be now with no form of tad or df ability?
  8. After reading mudspike's review I'm really interested in getting the Normandy map. I'll enjoy some WWII reenactments but will probably fly helicopters and the hog more than anything, but how can I navigate in the map once the cdu gets knocked out? Last I knew the df didn't work in the a-10 and I doubt the airfield will have tacan/ils. Am I missing something or is this just how it is?
  9. NWS is being switched off around 70knots as per the manual, is that wrong?
  10. Just an update guys: Firstly thanks for all the responses, I definitely wasn't expecting so much input lol! I went with the A-10c to train her on based on the many pro-hog responses and the fact that I already own and have a fairly good understanding of the module. Today was lesson 1 with flight fundamentals and avionics 101. She's pretty good at the startup checklist and taxing, but........ takeoff will need a little more work haha, after about 100' she tends to overcorrect on the rudder and "pirouette" on a wingtip. BTW I instead bought the sa342 for myself, love it! Took a little bit to get a feel for such a light copter after being used to the huey but I really like it, Highly recommend!
  11. Glad to hear! Does ED ever say what the problem was? Just curious
  12. I had thought of starting her on a fc3 aircraft as i, myself, started in the SU-25T. I know it's less complicated but I think there is extra value in a clickable cockpit, more "hands on" than just keybinds with the added benefit of recognizing certain switches/buttons in new aircraft and understand what they do to a degree (battery, apu, generators, etc. Am I correct in saying the general consensus is stick with the hawg? Do any of the trainer aircraft "feel" like flying a really fast cessna? Lol
  13. I kinda like the idea of having the TAD as a nav backup. I still only have one rig to fly on so 2-seat capability isn't necessary, I just assumed a trainer would be the easiest to, you know, train on? If that's not the case I'd just write up a few modified checklists that cut out all of the "fun" switches. But seeing as the sale is going on I might as well get something! I was slightly leaning towards the l-39 but now I don't know if the metric guages would get confusing?
  14. Hey all im wondering if anyone has any input for which trainer I should get with the Easter discount. My wife has an interest in taking part in my obsession but she has virtually no flying experience other than what I've talked about during chores. Eventually she'll be on the hawg but I'd like to train her on flight fundamentals in a less complicated aircraft. I'm not necessarily looking for the "best" aircraft but rather the best to teach in that mimics the a-10's characteristics to a point. Thanks for any input!
  15. I've had the same issue with a light loadout in ALT flying straight above 200knots.
  16. Just had a curious thought after not-so-voluntarily having to eject, what happens to the hog after pilot ejection irl? Anything? Nothing? Any systems attempt to take any sort of control or does she just fall from the sky? This is hypothetically assuming all systems are intact.
  17. What does the Aoa indicator have to do with the OP's question? He was right on or close to the target aoa in every landing.
  18. All aboard!
  19. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the explanation!
  20. Could someone explain to me the difference between the traditional preset IP method versus Keyhole method as it pertains to the JTAC/FAC's control of CAS?
  21. Lt. Snake, thanks I'll disable the option and see how that works. Thanks! mjolner, I'm checking the vids out now.
  22. My guess would be we won't have a static list until all airfield are added to NTTR
  23. As far as I know voice attack is not yet compatible with 2.0 due to there not being a static ATC menu yet. I'm also excited for this to be implemented soon, hopefully
  24. Almost 270 views and no other opinions? That's kind of a first for this community haha. Am I the only one with this issue?
  25. Do you mean turn off the radio in-cockpit or is there a away to actually disable DCS from using the strike force channel. I know that if I only turn off the radio on my end the program is still running the radio message script in the background, I just won't hear it. Same goes for AWACS if I shut off my AM radio completely.
