  1. If I had to choose a nemesis for the Mig-21 it would have to be the English Electric Lightning. Can't wait to see the lightning in DCS and I would love to see Leatherneck sims to model it given the standard of the mig-21. Jacks

    I-16

After reading into the I-16, it appears to be slower in the cruise and dive when compared to the 109 but has a better climb rate at low altitudes and can out tun a 109. It is also a smaller target with similar firepower and a reliable power plant up front. So it may be able to give the 109 a run for its money. It sounds like a good turn fighter and if a pilot can drag the 109 down low and get into a turn fight then it may hold the upper hand. Looking forward to this aircraft.

    I-16

Looks great but will this aircraft stand a chance against the FW-190 or ME-109? Would love to see the AN-2 on their Facebook page introduced to DCS, would be great for field landings and resupplies or maybe for dropping paratroopers. Jacks
  4. The monitor itself is 60hz according to the manufacturer and I have it set at 60hz in asus you tweak. If I cap the dos to 50, I also change the refresh rate to 50hz. Jacks
  5. Bump? Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Jacks
  6. I tried returning the house to default settings but not change.
  7. My monitor has a refresh rate of 60.
  8. To be honest I am starting to prefer blender after Playing around with both. Jacks
  9. I would like to running an idea past the experts to check it viability. I would like to see a mod for a hand launcher mini UAV like the desert hawk. The UAV would be launched by a JTAC and then controlled using the F10 map to give it waypoint and an altitude to fly just like any other AI unit. The UAV would feed a camera picture back to the JTAC using either the A-10C's TGP feed or the Skhval feed to keep thing s simple. The JTAC would have this feed in the corner of his screen so he could continue to do JTACy things but he would be able to control the UAV's sensor, controlling the pan and zoom. The JTAC could also select a 'SPI' for to camera to look at. The UAV would also have an IR capability so it could operate at night and a laser designator. I think that a mini UAV would be a great tool for a JTAC and allow quick aerial recce close to battle. Does this sound like a viable and achievable mod?
  10. Devrim, I agree on reducing the scope so we can complete the mission. Maybe splitting the slicks into two flights with one dropping off while the other picks up. I think a commander is required to move the infantry and one or two jtacs to control air movement around the target and give fire missions to the gunships. I personally would also like to see a fixed wing asset with a good optical sensor that can sit high up in the overhead, locating targets and providing info to otherrs. Having tgp or skhval footage of targets being engaged and slicks landing on would look great on a video! That said, last weekend's mission was well planned and executed and a lot of fun!
  11. Yes the gpu is over locked to 1240hz on core clock, haven't touched the memory clock.
  12. I thought the grasshopper would be simpler as the canopying simpler and it does have leading edge slats. Plus there are plenty in the UK and I hoping to convert onto one so I can gain some experience of how it flies in real life. Also the grashopper was used in more roles including anti-tank. I am planning on using 3DS Max 2016, will this suffice or is there better software available? Jacks
  13. I am pretty new to modelling (a little pro engineer, autocad and sketchup experience) but would like to learn. I was thinking of modelling the Piper L-4 Grasshopper including a working cockpit. Is this a realistic goal for the average human? Are there any free sources of L-4 blueprint to use? Jacks
  14. Great video chuck! The Vietnam mod looks great. I think next time I will try the dessert mod. I wish I could have ran this with high shadows, heat blur and reflections but my pc would probably explode. How was this filmed? Was the track replayed later with the eye candy turned up? Jacks
  15. I5 3570k at 4.5GHz, GTX 770 2Gb, 8Gb 1600hz RAM, 240Gb SSD. Playing at good old 1920x1080. Although my system isn't the fastest, it should be capable of playing dcs at decent fps....... Jacks

    Carrier ops

for this mission I am trying to get the following to spawn on the two carriers: Russian Carrier: 4xMi-8s 2xKA-50s 2xSU-33s USN Carrier: 4xHuey Transports 2xHuey Gunships
  17. Is it possible to get more than one aircraft type to spawn on the carriers. Also what is the maximum number of aircraft that can spawn on the carriers? Also is there a way to edit exact where on the carrier the aircraft will spawn? Finally is there any way to get soldiers to spawn on the carrier decks so you can load the Huey transports? Thanks in advance, Jacks
  18. I run the Sim with application-controlled vsync on as I get tearing if I do not. For me adaptive vsync also causes tearing. I have already turned down some features so I only have 2x MsAA, no TSAA, no tree shadows, reflections mirrors, no,HDR etc. Most of my nvidia settings are application controlled and I have set maximum single monitor performance and max of 1 pre-rendered frame. If I disable trackir, with A fixed view, at 30fps the terrain stutters past the canopy and is jerky.i remember FSX being smoother at 25FPS. Jacks
  19. I have a 60Hz monitor but my rig struggles to run DCS at 60Fps and so I would like to set the max FPS to 30, half the display fresh rate. I have read several people on these forums describing 30fps as silky smooth. For me 30fps is choppy and riddled with micro-stutters which makes it unpleasant to look at and makes me feel queasy. All at 30fps, trackir is very jerky and I get ghosting when panning the view fast which I don't get at 60fps. A steady 60fps on my machine is a pleasure to watch. I assume that this is not normal since the human can only register about 25fps and so surely there should be no discernible difference between 60 and 30 FPS. I have found that when lowering the max FPS incrementally from 60 to 30, the jerkiness gets progressively worse. Can anyone think what might be causing this? Jacks
  20. I would love to replay this mission at night using nvgs!
  21. CH-53s look so imposing...... Unfortunately never been in the back of one as we Brits had to make do with chinooks. Blagged a ride in an osprey though and I can't wait to see it introduced to DCS in the future.
  22. I too found fps stayed around 30 for most of the mission (returned to 50 when looking away) and went down to 10-20 in the busy HLSs. I thought my 2Gb GTX 770 would be man enough but I guess this mission was too taxiing for it. I think an upgrade is required soon. Although 30fps is just about playable it certainly not buttery smooth and I find view panning with trackir5 very jerky. I would be interested to hear what fps others were getting and what their setup is to compare yo mine. Chuck, rgr ref Aries. It is a mod I have no experience of and so I bow down to your better knowledge and experience. Jacks
  23. Is it worth trialling Aries for these types of events. Haven't used it myself. Am I right in thinking that with Aries each group can communication on their own VHF net and then a UHF freq can be used for a command net. Did anyone capture any videos last night? Jacks
  24. A few screenies but no action shots as I was too busy focusing on my flying :). The first is us on the pan starting engines. The second is the slick hueys on the runway ready for the first insertion after loading up (shame I had heat blur turned off to save FPS :() The final image is the huey and mi-8 slicks holding short of the final HLS on the airfield, waiting for the gunships to do their thing. For me the only improvements would be a slightly earlier start time to encourage more European players, a dedicated commander controlling the action and directing the troops, a JTAC or two to control the gunships and insertions using a keypad system and finally an ISTAR capability for locating the INS and recceing possible HLSs. This could be done by a reaper or possibly an SU-25T. The weapon load outs should be selected to maximise FPS. The SOP of turning off all lights was good and should be used again. These are minor improve points and not a slur on last nights event which was fantastic!
  25. Thanks chuck for a great event and the calibre of flying was impressive! Looking forward to the next one . Jacks
