Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I can see your point on 1v2, but in recent training exercises I've done it's been 2v2. And around 15nm we both launch an AMRAAM in HOJ mode. But the thing is maybe I'm just setting up this whole situation wrong, I'm trying to fine my skills when I get FC 2 in July, for my birthday:D. But maybe setting up 2 Eagles against 2 Mig 29Ss at 20 nm is not like what you'd expect in a LOMAC FC 2 mission since there you have AWACS and a lot more protection. Then again maybe I'm wrong? I just hope that after each engagement I'll get better and have good defensive skills to take down 2 opponents so i can play onmline as I have never gotten into LOMAC, cause Vista keeps crashing the original, but wanted to. So I believe when FC 2 comes I'll get better. -
Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for that didn't know I had that, but that essentially told me what I already knew and that is how to beam a missile. It didn't tell me how to counter 2 other missiles fired at you from a 3/9 position? -
Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I do try and engage but the 1st thing they do when I start the 1v2 is jam me. So I lose my radar immediately. The copy of LOMAC I have didn't come with a manual. Dony know why, but the FC2 manual will talk about this and defensive tactics right? I'm just still a noob, but if I ever got good I'd love your community:thumbup: -
I've finally learned how to succesfully beam a missle. But the one problem i run into is once I've beamed 1 missile and am still going away from it with it at my 3 or 9 o'clock 1 or more is shot at me from my 3 or 9 o'clock. So how can you counter act that, when you are beaming a missile and then another is fired? Should you break back into the fight after you see the missile isn't tracking any more, so that you can put your weapons on the enemy? And when you're in HOJ mode against Mig 29s is there a way to counteract their jamming or do you have to wait? Sorry but I'm still a noob to LOMAC :(

But they will help in BVR combat and Dogfights right? So they aren't always just average they can be higher skilled AI I hope?
-
Any improvement in the Eagle or Hog world?
-
IS the AI in FC 2 smarter than in LOMAC and FC 1.1 or 1.2? I mean in LOMAC your wingman would get shot down after just one missile hit, and there you would be w/ 8 missiles twice as many targets.
-
I can agree on that
-
Thanks for the link here's the site, http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?scr=products&end_pos=135 yeah it does seem odd they wouldn't be included.
-
I found on ED's site that the only way to get the FC 2 videos are by downloading the game, they don't come with the boxed version?
-
Is FC 2 easy to still use if you dont have track ir?
-
IS there a faster way to pan the view around the aircraft when looking externally? I mean pausing the game moving the view then unpausing is faster than the slow pan in game. Maybe I'm using the wrong controls.
-
Just out of curiosity, I remember not too far back running FC 1.1 and installing the patches and running FC with patch 1.1b and 1.12b installed. And sometimes even then as ED says it's compatible with Vista, http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1605&scr=default, it still crashed as did the original. So I'm just wondering is LOMAC FC 2 more stable with Vista because it was designed with Vista from the roots, and FC wasn't but just happened to have Vista added on as a patch and patches sometimes don't work? I've always been curious about this question.
-
Question would purchasing FC2 make the original LOMAC more stable so if I try to play older missions it wouldn't crash?
-
Well thats great news, finally Eagle Dynamics has made a stable LOMAC. Thanks for the help guys, and if I have a problem with FC 2 then I'll come back here and post it. IYO do you think it's better to get a disk and manual or just download? You run the risk of a pc crash if you download but can keep it with a disk?
-
Ok I believe I will. I guess the crashing is because I'm running the original LOMAC on Vista, and they don't like each other. But with a LOMAC compatible with Vista I think would work. And you don't need the first FC or BS to run FC2, you can run it from the original LOMAC right? Would you agree the reason for the crashing is that the first is an older program, but this is much much newer?:(
-
Well I own LOMAC and LOMAC Flaming Cliffs ,but not BS. So are you saying that FC 2 willl fix this crashing problem, or not since you say no compatibility mode. Can you be a little more specific?
-
Ever since getting LOMAC, the original, I've always had problems with the program crashing. So I'd like to know will LOMAC FC 2 allow the program to run in Vista without any problems since it'll be compatable with it? Or will i still have a crashing problem? I've used LOMAC in Win 98/ME compatability mode, and partially worked.
-
Well what should you do if you are within 1-3miles of the bandit? how should you avoid close in encounters? and when you say gentle vertical turns do you mean like a barrel roll or what? all the while keeping sight of the missile and your speed up right?
-
I have never gotten into LOMAC in depth before because it'd always crash when I played it on Vista. But after changing the compatibility and all that now it's set for Windows 98/ME and works. So now that I can practice more I have never been able to beam a missile on purpose, or if so I didn't know I did it. But I'm trying to understand when you put the missile at your 3 or 9 and pump ourt chaff/flares why is it whenever I do that the missile slams right into me? Do you not make the turn until just before it hits you? Or right after the launch warning? Also what are other ways to evade missiles? I know about Ironhand and his track but it never works on mine, so if somebody could give me a link or directions about how to evade missiles I'd love it .

I have posted on many forums that the version of LOMAC I have LOMAC GOLD (which is the original w/ FC) wasn't made by Ubisoft but by Evading games. I finally found that out after sending Ubisfot an email that it crashes and they said Evading games makes it. So i wonder after installing patch 1.12b changing the compatibility checking for updates for drivers and sound cards I guess that patch doesn't work on Evading games software. OS I bought LOMAC and FC separate again to see if it would quit crashing it hasn't arrived yet but I wonder if buying Ubiasoft products will help fix the problem since they'll be separate instead made by a company that doesn't make LOMAC patches. Does anybody know if this will work?

Problems with Beaming a missile

Well that did make the computer take control by letting it play the rack but all it does is take control and then crash the airplane into the ground? What's up with that? -

I downloaded that and still it doesn't work. But I have finally found it inside the game but when I lay the mission I'm in control of the aircraft and there is no audio instructions like I hear when i play them from the folder,. Is that the way the missions are supposed to be? The version i have is 1.02 -
